Sounds more like a Metroid parody than a Mario parody.

The "8 Power Stars" and the "red coins" quote that the Professor says before you access Dragonfly Falls is an obvious Mario parody right there.

His name is a parody of Metroid but his apppearance is definitely spoofing Mario.

I noticed those jokes too. I went dying laughing since I hate Mario.

No offense to anyone who likes him.

But does anybody know what the Golden Tokens spoof was? I couldn't think of any games I played that had Golden Tokens in it.
