---------- ~ Chapter 1 ~ ------------

The night was young. The sky was clear and bright, filled with stars that shined like lit candles gleaming in the darkness. A full moon dazzled in the dark sky. The wind blew gently and quietly. In the distance, the hooting of an owl and the relentless chirping of tiny crickets could be barely heard. Cynder sat on top of a flat boulder at the peak of a hill overlooking the valley. She was gazing at the moon. Spyro sat by her side and said,
"It's so beautiful tonight!"
"I wish it was like this every night.", said Cynder quietly.
"Me too", Spyro said in reply.
"Spyro...." She puts her head down. "Do.. do you love me?"
"Of course I do! With all my heart! He puts his head on hers. She smiles and gazes up at him. As they snuggle closer, Cynder says,
"My life would never be complete without you. I've loved you since the day you first saved me."
Spyro licks her cheek.
"I will love you forever and ever until the day I die.", said Spyro happily.
Just when everything seems to be perfect, something happens. Black beads of rain begin to drizzle from the heavens. They start off falling slow, but then begin to pour down hard.
"What's happening?!?", said Cynder startled. She jumps up.
"I.... I don't know!! We better go tell the elders in Dragon City!", said Spyro.
"Okay! Let's go!!!" said Cynder. They prepare for flight. But, Cynder senses something directly behind her. Something powerful, like it was watching her, waiting for the right moment to strike. She turned around, but she sees nothing. She thinks, "I am just paranoid. That's all.".
Spyro leaps up into the air and swishes his wings gracefully into the air and thrusts himself into flight. Cynder, who is hesitating to tell Spyro about her weird feeling that she has, follows closely behind him. Suddenly, Cynder gets snatched out of flight by an invisible force. She screams
"Spyro!!!!!!!". Spyro turns around.
"Cynder?" said Spyro. But, Cynder was gone!
Now, massive puddles of black rain cover the valley. Smoke seams up from the puddles.

---------~ Chapter 2 ~--------

Hours later, Cynder wakes up in a large, crystal filled cave. The crystals are black, and black mist puffs out of them occasionally like the force of a geyser. As she stands up half dazed, she remembers what had happened before.
Then, a huge black figure appears before her. It was the shape of a dragon. A... familiar dragon that is. The beast was all Jet Black with red eyes. Black mist seeped up from it's body. It's talons were about 1 foot long, and it's fangs looked as if they could pierce the strongest armor.
"I thought I would never see you again.", he said. His voice is dark and rough, yet quiet and calm.
"Who are you?!?", said Cynder angrily.
He sits down.
"My name is Nithen, and I am the brother of the previous Dark Master, Malefor. And....you.... are my... daughter." He looks at her with fascination.
"What??!!?? I don't believe you!!", said Cynder in shock.
"It is true. You were born at the time of disaster. My brother wanted to destroy the world and own it. His powers got the best of him. He took you from me. He took you from your.... mother." He looks away from her in shame.
"My Mother? Where is she?"
"I am so very sorry Cynder. Your Mother, she.... she is no longer with us.
One day, about 7 days after your egg was laid, Malefor came by to our cave. He demanded that he got full claim of you after you hatched. Your Mom, she would have nothing of it. I tried to stop him. I did!" His eyes fill with tears.
"What happened?!?", said Cynder sadly. She tries to stop her tears from rolling down her cheeks.
"Malefor killed her in cold blood as she protected you from him. I watched her die! I couldn't stop him! He threatened to kill you! To make you his slave! She wanted me to tell you something. It was her last words to you.
- Cynder, even though I am not here with you, I am watching you. I am in your blood. I will always be there for you, even though you can't see me. Just know that whatever happens, do what your heart tells you. - ."
Cynder begins to cry.
"Dad, where have you been all of this time?", said Cynder.
"I have been locked away ever since Malefor took you. He locked me up in this very cave for all of that time. His death caused the great seal to break, which allowed me to escape."
A pitch black cloud-shaped figure appears. It heads straight for Nithen.
"NO! You can't do this now!!!! You can't take me too!!!", said Nithen in fear.
"Heheh! Our blood is linked forever, old brother. You thought you could live happily ever after did you not? Well, I can assure you that this world WILL see a painful and slow death.", said the figure. It goes up inside Nithen.
"RUN CYNDER! While you have time!!!", said Nithen angrily.
"DAD!"
Nithen turns half purple and half black. His eyes turn gold.
"Well, Cynder, we meet again. It's a pity you did what you did. I could have made you my little helper, again. No worry. It won't be hard to fix this problem.", said Nithen evilly.
"What did you do to my Father?", said Cynder enraged.
"I did what I had to do. Now, will we do this the easy way, or the hard way?", said Nithen.
"I will never let you get to me again!! You ruined my life!", said Cynder.
"Very well. I guess it is the hard way."
He grabs Cynder and throws her up into a crystal. It stabs through her body. Blood pours out of her. It turns black as it covers the cave wall. Her body begins to change. As she opens her eye, something happens.

-------~Chapter 3~--------

Meanwhile, Spyro was making an entrance into the Dragon City. All of a sudden, the Earth shook back and forth, and there was a massive fiery explosion miles away where something devastating was happening.
"Where are you Cynder? And what is happening?!?" said Spyro in fear. Volteer and Terrador came running out of the temple to see what the ruckus was.
"What was that???" said Terrador. Volteer looks up at the sky.
"It can't be..." said Volteer in shock.
"Can't be what?!?" said Spyro. Sparx came flying out of a small building with a garden around it.
"Alright! Seriously, come on! Can't I ever get some shut eye?" said Sparx sarcastically. Sparx looks up and sees the flaming sky and says "What the? Am I really seeing this, or did I choose the wrong butterfly to eat again?"
"It is really happening Sparx." said Spyro in an annoyed voice.
"AHEM! Sorry to interrupt this "touching" moment, but I would like to hear what Volteer has to say." said Terrador loudly.
"Thank you. Spyro, where is Cynder? It is very important that we keep her safe. Something is happening. I fear it is.... something to do with... the Dark Master....." said Volteer.
"She disappeared. She was flying right behind me, and then I heard her yell. I turned around only to find out that she had vanished. And, I thought Cynder and I had defeated Malefor?" said Spyro worryingly.
"I fear that he has taken her.... Spyro, you may have defeated his physical form, but his afterlife still lurks. His spirit must have taken over someone else's body...." said Volteer.
"But who?!?" said Spyro slightly surprised.
"I was just on the verge of accepting the she-dragon beasty too. Oh well!" said Sparx sarcastically.
"This still doesn't explain the fire and the black rain." said Terrador.
"We have to rescue Cynder! Before it is too late!" said Spyro ignoring Sparx's comment.
"But, for all we know, it might already be too late. I am afraid we should take safety first, before we get ourselves in over our heads." said Volteer seriously.
"It is our best option for now. We don't know what is out there." said Terrador adding to Volteer's suggestion.
"I agree with blathers. It is probably already too late. Let's just enjoy the good life while we still can!" said Sparx.
"I am going out there! I will find Cynder and stop this!" said Spyro ignoring Sparx's second comment.
"It is not a good idea, Spyro." said Terrador.
"I was born to be a hero, remember?" said Spyro happily.
"Why must I be the one with the fat purple super dragon brother? Why must I deserve this!?!" said Sparx dramatically.
"I will come back! I promise!" said Spyro.
"It's your choice, young dragon. May the ancestors watch over you." said Volteer with honor.
Spyro picks up his wing and thrusts them into the great night sky. He heads toward the flaming sky where Cynder is undergoing a drastic change.

While Spyro was preparing to leave Dragon City to embark on his quest to find out the truth, Cynder was changing, for the worse.
Nithen watched in pleasure as the once civilized and beautiful dragon, turns into a beast before him. He laughed at the thought.
Cynder, now the size of Nithen, was made of pure evil. Her body is as black as night. Her wings are massive and torn open. Her fangs look as if they could break steel. Her talons are like razors. Black splinters run down her neck down to her tail. Her body smokes from the purist of evil, and her eyes are gold. Her blood is black.
"I must say, I did well for myself." said Nithen happily.
"Oh, yes you did!" said Cynder.
"You are feisty. But, I can manage...." said Nithen.
Cynder giggles.
"Let's get to the point, who is Spyro?" said Nithen questioningly.
"It that your name?" said Cynder without a clue.
"Never mind!" said Nithen excitedly.
"The memory loss may not be permanent. I must get rid of those other pesky dragons, before she regains her memory." thought Nithen.
"So, who is this "Spyro"?" said Cynder.
"He wants to take over the world and you to be his slave." Nithen said.
Cynder laughs.
"Really? He thinks he is a match for us? Ha! I think not!" said Cynder sarcastically.
"Ha! You are right. We must defeat that puny little nothing as soon as possible!" said Nithen seriously.
"Yes." said Cynder in reply.

---------~ Chapter 5 ~---------

Spyro, deep inside, was scared for what he might find. He didn't know what to expect, and without Cynder by his side, sadness and fear filled through his heart like a raging river.
It was about noon now. The ponds of black mist had dried up from the sun's powerful rays of light, but the stains of blackness covered the ground like a distant evil lurking in the midsts of the unknown.
Spyro flew over the waterfall, and distant memories of him and Cynder's passionate love in Avalar hit him. He, deep inside, hoped she was okay. But, indeed, she was not.
Almost to the place were a great evil was lurking, he looked up at the sky. The area seemed uneasy.Spyro landed and walked up to the massive, black cave. It was too dark inside to see what was in it.
"Cynder?" said Spyro in a nervous voice.
She walked through the darkness and stood in front of him.
"Wha...what.... ha...happened to you?!?" said Spyro in shock.
"A little something called power. But, you wouldn't know about that would, you?" said Cynder in an evil voice.
"Who are you and who has done this?!?" said Spyro. He backed away from her.
"Haha! Your new master is wonderful to me. He treats me how a real lover should! But, poor Spyro! No love for you?!? Too bad!" said Cynder.
"New master? It.... it can't be! Don't do this Cynder! He has control of you! You don't know what your doing! Remember what you said? You said "I'm with you!". Please!......" said Spyro in desperation.
"I don't recall that in any matter. So, the great purple dragon is a baby? Haha! I wonder where you even got your reputation. You are a piece of worthless garbage. But, you will do me good as my personal slave!" said Cynder.
"Cynder..... Why are you dong this? Please!" said Spyro holding back tears.
"Well well, we have a baby in our midsts! Ha!. So, are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?" said Cynder sarcastically.
"Neither!" said Spyro.
"Very well." She grabs him by his throat and smashes him into a tree knocking him unconscious.

While a dooming hell unfolded for Spyro, things were happening elsewhere.
Ashes began to rain from the sky in Dragon City. They were thin and gray signalling the eruption of a volcano. They stained the clouds black, and began to pollute the air.
"What is happening?!? said Volteer.
"I can only expect the worse. The volcano must have erupted." Terrador stated.
"That must mean....." said Volteer unable to finish his sentence.
"The earth.....it must be shifting... but our earth hasn't done that in 2,000 years..." said Terrador.
"We must tell the others! Before we are all doomed for whatever is coming!" said Volteer in fear.
"But.... Spyro and Cynder?" said Terrador sadly.
"We...we can't help them now. It's too late!" said Volteer.
Terrador looks up at the ash-raining sky.
"Let them be safe.....Ignitus..." said Terrador feeling guilty.

The ground rumbled like the sound of thunder. Someone... or something was beneath the dragons' feet at that very moment.... listening to their voices and learning of their plans. But, what was it?

Meanwhile, Sparx was out with Cyril.
"I just took a bath!" said Sparx angrily. He rubs at the ashes on his wings.
"Maybe if you would go faster, we could get back to tell Volteer and the others about the situation!" said Cyril in an annoyed voice.
"Pardon me, dude!" said Sparx sarcastically.

The rumbling began to start up under Cyril's feet. Then, all of a sudden, the creature bursts up from the ground and shows it's almighty self. It scales were thick and the sunlight bounced from it's body. It had large, golden eyes and a long, forked tongue. It was, indeed, a serpent!

It opened it mouth and showed it's fangs at Sparx and Cyril.
