How old do you think Spyro and Sparx are in this game? I think they are 13 years old.

My default age for them has been six years old. I'm not sure where I got this idea, but I've been assuming that dragons take about twelve years to grow up and they don't really start growing until about ten years of age.

It's also possible that Spyro is only a year or two old, given how puppy-ish his walking is and how much smaller he is than the adult dragons.

I suppose his age really depends on what the dragon lifespan and life cycle is like in his world. I know Sparx has matured much faster than Spyro (they're the same age, but Sparx appears to be adult size, he's just lacking some of the more defining characteristics of a full-grown male dragonfly).

If you want to compare him to us, then I'd say his equivalent age is twelve or thirteen going on forty (he's been through enough trials to push him mentally and spiritually into the realm of an adult).

Oh Razz! Dragons are grown up at the age of 70! its in one of my books! The whole grown up at the age of twelve is a myth! spyros eight years old my book says dragons need to learn combat at the age of eight!

The great thing about dragons is that everything about them is different depending on what story it is, what mythology or franchise, and who's telling the story. Dragons in Chinese mythology were gods and hatched from their eggs full-grown. On Pern, a dragon is full grown at two years of age. In one of my stories, dragons don't reach maturity until they are one hundred, but in another story of mine, dragons ageless.

Unless the folks who make the games actually tell us, we don't know what the true age of these characters is, nor do we even know how they measure age. Maybe every season is counted and Spyro is eight-five by now, or the dragonflies don't number their years and no one knows how old he is. For all we know, the measure age by days. That's what's fun about dragons, though. They are only limited by your imagination. smilie

^Meh, I could care less 'bout Dragonology. On topic; Elijahs, what? 25? Given that, I'd say 13-17, but I'm basing this on human age. But what can ya' do? I don't think the biological aging of dragons was exactly on the minds of Krome.

The Dragonology series is cute, but it makes me sad. It's literally just one person's idea of what dragons are. If you want some real stuff, try reading up on actual dragon mythology around the world. Now that is fun (and more bizarre than most people would figure).

^ I know. I've read alot of strange stuff about dragons, unfortunately I can't remember any at the moment though. My beef about Dragonology is that it relies too much on magic and not enough on actual science. And that they dismiss the existence of dinosaurs. I know it's faux and all, but could they at least use actual science based hypotheses that don't fall back on magic and such. Were going off topic aren't we?

Yes, but OT is fun. smilie

I don't have that much against using magic instead of science, but I think the best way to work is to mix them both. I remember the Animal Planet "documentary" about dragons and it was too much science (and too much total crap; I hated that documentary, and for a die-hard nerd like me, that says a lot). If you can mix the fictional physics and workings of magic into the science of your world setting, then you get something that's all sorts of fun.

Yes OT is fun! smilie It may have been crap, but the special effects were AWESOME. I agree with you, although magic should be second to the science. ON Topic: I based my ages on their voice actors. Wood's is like,25, so , considering Spyro's size, I place their ages at somewhere between 13-17.

Because I'm a total nerd, I based their ages off the stage of development they appear to be at (with the assumption that Sparx is physiologically older than Spyro because of his species). Ergo, Spyro can't too old if he still hasn't fully mastered walking and still has that much baby fat. smilie

This may be so, but I'm disinclined to believe something a friend (or, in this case, a friend of an acquaintance smilie) said. If it's officially announced from the game developers, that's when I'll believe it.
