It was good but I still like the original series better. I think ANB's to dark and mysterious when the original series was a nice, light-hearted platformer game.

I liked it for having more story than the previous games I'd played. Also, it is full of bright colors and enemies that make entertaining noises. And dragons! I loved the character and environment designs and the music...oh gosh, the music! And I can't not love a game that makes me laugh so much (it tries so hard to be so serious that it makes me laugh).

It rekindled my likings for the series, so I have to say yes My reasoning on this is that the direction was made to be completely fresh in comparison to the watering formulae of the previous few titles released, and even the story was a little more advanced than what I have witnessed in a typical Spyro title. The titular main character is a lot more approachable than the Hero's Tail incarnation in spite of his lack of confidence at some scenes and the music and environments are all a wonder to witness, so that would make us feel more at ease than the usual. I just wish it wasn't that short though, lol.

Spyro is so much more relatable in the new series. He may lack confidence, but that's something we all go through. We get to see him grow up, which brings him closer to us because we know what that's like.

Yes, I enjoyed the DS game. I think it was very 'legendary' and I just loved it. Maybe a bit too much fighting baboons non-stop that it became a bit of a bore tho. I must say 'yes'.

I borrowed the PS2 game and I thought it was very dull and boring! I played until Dante's Freezer then got sick of it.

I hated it. It didn't follow the original badboy self Spyro was. Spyro isn't supposed to be a legend. He's supposed to be a normal dragon who played hookie one day and got in trouble for it and got an adventure out of it.

And they put graphics before fun. Just stupid.

Myself, I replayed all of the serie's games recently... and I have to say one thing about this one.

This game is not your old-school Spyro. Does it means it's bad? Not at all. In fact, despite being not like the old Spyro games, the game still feel like a Spyro game.

Why so? Because the premise remain the same. You're still a seemingly ordinary little purple dragon hatchling that end up embarking on a much greater journey than expected at first, travelling through surreal stages, going through a lot of platforming and getting rid of hordes of foes that get in your way.

Sure, the game now has more advanced combat and the levels are now linear, based on surviving through rather than finding hidden collectibles to progress.

Yes, there are less foe types than before and not as many stages but the foes now do more than just stand there and wait for you to get close.

Sure, one could regret that there aren't more enemy stages and that the game isn't longer but if you stop whining about it being different from the past games and actually give it a chance, you will find it to be greatly enjoyable.

Sure, it's not the best in the serie (Year of the Dragon, A Hero's Tail, and more recently, The Eternal Night are better contenders) but is it really important?

We play games because they're fun, not to brag that you own the OMGEST game of the century, after all.

So, sit back and enjoy the game for what it is.

My own overall opinion?

It's fun. I like fun games. Thus, I liked this game.

I recommend you try this game. You might find it fun too.

i love the enhanced story line. before it was like theres a bad guy, doin' bad crap. Now for some reason, you need to travel through all of the little worlds to get to the bad dude and torch him. that was about it

I do too, and that is one of my other reasons why I liked the game too. A newly introduced dragon character which plays an important role.

yeah, i was glad to see a girl dragon in AHT, but she was just to kid-like Cynder is a much more complex character that has a deeper level of meaning residing in spyros affections

Well I love this game but it reminds me alot of the LOTR games (the fury bar really reminds me of those games). But the game is really fun I loved it.

I like it because it expands on the dragons that are out there aside from Spyro. Some of the environments are really fantastic. I kinda got tired of fighting babboons over and over and over. I'd like to see a different kind of enemy pop up for "stock torching".

The original games where OK but a little too mini-game based. Althoe thats what Spyro was. A "Mario Party" sort of game. The new games are sleitly better as a game but they aren't REALLY Spyro games. If you took the Spyro-Theme out then it would be a completely diferant game. If you did the same with the other ones they'd still be Spyro games.

One of the Big reasons that I DIDN'T like this one was that I'm used to bosses with weaknesses, like the second boss. The bosses in NewBegining, apart from the 2nd, had no weaknesses so they were really hard.

But the main reason it wasn't that grouse was that death had no consequence, it completely obliterated the challenge.

and yeah i liked it. The storyline was largely enhanced. The game could've been a bit more harder,but the gameplay was very addicting....

unlike the other games i've played this game makes itself truly a legend.
although i still say the first 3 spyros are the greater legends! >;O

I thought this game was so-so. Here's why:

Ok, I liked it cuz the graphics were REALLY good, the story lines were long, but VERY interesting and had me REALLY paying attention to it, Sparx can finally talk..., there are really good guardians on this game, the main badguy is awesomeness, the game is tougher than the old ones, and there are melee attacks that Spyro can use to kick them badguy butt!

Now, the reason why I didn't like it much is cuz it was WAAAAAAAAAAY too short! A waste of paying $40.00 on a game that took me only 5 hrs to beat it! *sighs* Plus, the game is too easy, even though I may die a lot on certain places, it's still easy! Sheesh!

i like it. but it's not my fave game out of the spyro games. the breath type are cool and the bosses are awesome. but i guess i'm into the classics. lol.

like everyone said, stronger story, little bit more challenging to me, graphics are good for ps2, and to top it off Spyro can fight!!! LOL I just flat out enjoye it.

I enjoy CERTAIN parts in this game. I only play it if I'm in the mood. (I do the same with PS1 games ) But the second part (TEN) I enjoyed it A LOT! It's so awesome!

the bit that kinda annoys me is the REALLY long cut-scenes. like when he first meets ignitus. it took forever to me... lol.

This game is just... superb, the story is really great.
