i am new and i see on my profile that you can collect gems. where do you get them and what do you do with them?

You get given a random amount of gems between about 7 and 17 gems every sunday. The amonut of gems you receive each sunday depends on how much you've been visiting and posting on the site.

It's up to 16 and I think you get 1 gem for every day that you visit the site and the other 9 gems have to do with how often, big, not-on-Spam-Central and helpful/detailed you post.

The actual number of gems you get is random, between certain points of course, so as to give some variety.
