Chapter 1
Won't you let me stay?
I slithered wearily up to the cave entrance, a clump of rock wedged in my way. There were sparkling jewles rigged up and pinned to the craggy walls, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and ampathysts glinting in the rays of the silver moon. I could smell rich meat roasting on the crackling fire inside the cave, my mouth watered as I curled my claws and rapped hard on the orange rock.
A black dragon opened the door, her cherry-red eyes prised into a scowl. She had two marble white fangs curling halfway down her chin. The flaps of skin on her wings were a deep bloody scarlet. She had six milky-white horns and silver cuff on each bony wrist, on her tail and a spiked one round her slim neck.
I stared at this dragon. I am an earth dragon so therefor am a deep mud-brown and glinting emerald green.
I realised she was the worst dragon to meet, even if Malefor himself had clicked the hatch on the Chest of Spirits and come to haunt me.
She was a fear dragon.
Fear dragons are created when something really awful happens to them, they are never born like that. It is said to be a torturing element forcing you to go slightly mad, living your worst experiances again. Fear dragons are really fierce and sensetive, the most likely to kill others because they are haunted by their past. If they have to relive what happened to make them like that they die.
But there were no other dragons and I knew I couldn't survive the night without shelter.
"Can you let me stay? Just for tonight, I need food, I haven't eaten for days," I pleaded.
She hesitated. I just wished she was the jolliest of the dragons, an electric.
"No," she said simply, pushing the clump of rock back.
I sighed, then saw something amazing, a savior. I climbed over to it and sunk my teeth into it, blood oozing over my fangs. I could survive now.
A dead deer.
