Well, back when I was at "spyro the dragon Forums." I read something that in 2008 there's going to be a movie called Spyro legacy of ages. I'm not sure if thats true but, will have to wait till next year to know for sure.

Spyro: Legacy of Ages is not official, and personally I doubt it will even get made.

A movie based on a videogame is rarely ever done right. I think the first Tomb Raider movie might be an exception but outside from that the quality of them means that they could dampen the franchise's reputation to some degree. Not even Mario had a decent movie smilie

I agree. It's creepy, that was my first thought on the whole project. Great minds think alike, I guess.

It could be a cool idea and all but I too am thinking on the same boat. A movie would be so hard to put together unless ideas are really shaped up together. On top of that the basic outline I've seen of it is that the writer detested the reboot to the point to continue the post-Shadow-Legacy arc herself and that she decided to use Cynder in spite of none of us knowing much about what will happen to her next. I'm just concerned if it will end up being your typical Spyro fanfic with graphics (though I do assure you, she's one of the better writers on there).

If you go onto the Spyro the Dragon forums there is a board dedicated to the movie.

When I first heard rumour of the movie I thought that it would've been made with the same animation as seen at the very beginning and end of ANB. A movie would be strange, though, because I doubt many people would want to see it in theatres.

A fan movie is being made, yes (I think we've covered that smilie).

When it comes to games being made into actual films, I don't think it's a good idea. Not because they aren't fun (I personally like the Mario brothers movie and the Tomb Raider movies), but because video games (especially modern ones) are designed to be interactive. A movie is a passive experience. You sit down and the screen tells you mostly what you are going to experience, leaving little to you the viewer. Games, on the other hand, are made in such a way that you are literally part of the story, you get to be a character and you get to interpret the story more freely.

Turning a game into a movie takes a lot away from the story experience, at least for me. So I like to watch movies, but I don't count them as part of the game's story canon and see them as an entirely different experience.
