Chapter one part 1
Holy Garden


“Take this, haaa!” Alph shouted clashing swords with his brother’s at such a force that it knocked it clean out of his hands. “Whaa!” Theo shouted.
Alph and Theo are brothers both orphans living with their friends at the Ever Garden and together known as the Garden Children. All of their friends where orphans at the Ever Garden, a beautiful sanctuary guarded by the church. The Garden Children where taught to fight by a knight at the Ever Garden.
“Okay, that’s enough, you two. Alph is the winner.” Said Leon, one of Alph’s older friends at the Ever Garden, a skilled swordsman in the making. “Haha...Yes!” Alph shouted punching his fist in the air. “Yeah, I’m no match for you at sword fighting. But I’m sure I could beat you in an archery battle!” Theo said readying his trusted bow.
“So, you’re more confident with your bow, huh? Okay, let’s do it!”
“Hay, you two. You should really let your wounds heal first.” Cecille said, Cecille was a priestess and was like a mother to Alph and Theo. Cecille isn’t a skilled fighter but is useful for healing injuries whilst the two boys trained.
“Eh, I’m not wounded. This is nothing!” Alph said picking up a spare bow.
“I’m okay, too!” Theo added.
“Ready? Go!” Alph shouted letting his arrow fly towards a scarecrow with a target on it. Alph’s arrow only just hit the edge of the target whilst Theo’s hit the dead centre of the target.
“Come on, you guys!” Cecille said starting to get annoyed at the boys ignoring her.
“How come those two never get tired of training?” Leon added with a sigh.
“I think it’s more that you just get bored easily. You’ll never be able to defeat Witches and monsters without proper training.”
“Man, I’m a genius. Why waste time trying to improve perfection?”
“Sir Heath isn’t going to be happy if he hears you say that again.”
“Sir Heath went to the Holy Capital because the Cardinal called for him. I figure I’ve got all day to
Just relax and enjoy your company...”
“Oh! It’s Sir Heath!” Theo shouted pointing to a figure coming over the hill.
“WH-What?” Leon said in deep alarm and standing bolt upright.
“Welcome back, Sir Heath!” Cecille said.
“Thanks. It looks like you’ve been training hard while I was gone.” Sir Heath’s voice was calm and seemed to reflect that among the Garden Children.
“Of course!” Alph said enthusiastically.
“N-No doubt about it!” Leon spluttered.
“Is something wrong, Leon? You’re acting awfully strange.” Sir Heath questioned.
“N-Nothing! Just tired from all the training I’ve been doing!” Leon said looking guilty, as if hoping Sir Heath would buy his excuse.
Cecille burst out laughing.
“So, Sir Heath, what did the Cardinal want to speak to you about?” Alph asked.
“About that.....Cardinal Kingston summoned me to assign me a very important mission. I’m to condemn any and all Witches I can find.” Sir Heath explained.
“So the rumour about the Witches appearing is...?” Alph asked already knowing the answer.
“Yes, it’s true. The Holy Capital was in an uproar over the news.” Sir Heath answered.
“What? Witches have appeared?” Theo asked only just over hearing the conversation from the distance he was at.

Chapter one part 2
Holy Garden

“The day has finally come!” Leon said clenching his fists.
“Yes. It is time to use the skills you have gained to serve our God.” Sir Heath agreed.”You must be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. The darkness never rests....”
“Sir Heath! I beg you, please help us!” a woman came running over the hill towards the Garden Children.
“You’re from Carwee Town...What happened?” Sir Heath asked the woman.
“Monsters have appeared in the plains to the northeast!” the woman replied pointing to a small town.
“What!?” Sir Heath shouted in alarm.
“Some of us who went out to harvest herbs didn’t escape in time...Please! Please help us!” the woman pleaded.
“That was just about a moment’s notice...” Leon added.
“Finally...A chance to fight Monsters!” Alph said clenching his fists on the hilt of his sword.
“Let’s show them what we can do!” Leon added, pulling his broad, one sided sword out of its scabbard on his back.
“Yeah!” Alph added.
“Mmm...” Theo mumbled.
“Theo! What’s wrong!?” Sir Heath asked with concern.
“Huh? ...It’s nothing. Let’s go!”
“One last lesson for all of you: a knight must not flee when others are in peril! Let’s head to the plains in the north east where the monsters appeared! Cecille, I’m leaving you in charge while we’re out.” Sir Heath said to every one.
“Yes, Sir.” Cecille replied. “Be careful, all of you. Protect the light. Condemn the Dark!”
Sir Heath and the Garden Children followed the woman to where she said the monsters where, weaving in and out of people running in the opposite direction. “Are the monsters further ahead?” Alph asked whilst running at full pelt.
“Everyone, be on your guard.” Sir Heath ordered.
“Monsters have really appeared, huh...?” Theo mumbled.
“Theo? Are you scared?” Alph asked.
“I-I’m not scared!” Theo shouted.
“Don’t worry.” Alph said trying to calm down Theo.
“...I’m not Worried...”
“Actually, I’m a little nervous, too.” Alph replied.
“You’re nervous, Big Brother? You’re lying, right?” Theo said in shock.
“This is going to be my first time fighting monsters, too. So of course, I’m nervous. But, you see, we’ve been training very hard for this day. Believe in yourself, Theo, and just do what we’ve been practicing. Let’s go over what we learned...”
“Okay!” Theo replied obviously feeling more confident now.
After a long time of continuous running Theo said “Alph! I hear voices from over there.”
“What?” Alph replied. Alph hears a scream from further ahead.
“There they are! Over there! Monsters are going after them!” Leon shouted as a large dog with three heads ran past.
“Oh, it’s a real monster!” Theo said staring at one of the dog’s heads.
“We’re moving in!” Sir Heath shouted. “Every one, dispatch those monsters! Show them the results of your training!”
The monsters all came to battle the Garden Children and their master, some where some sort of goblin that was tall even though it was almost bent double, it had a large mace made from a tree branch with jagged pieces of mettle sticking out of it.
Their was also a few giant birds that looked like it had a lions body and birds head and wings.
And also the three headed dog Cerberus seemed to be their leader.
The Garden Children fought bravely striking in with blows when they could eventually killing the last one brought them victory and although they had a few cuts and bruises they escaped serious injury. “Sweet!” Alph shouted panting for breath.
“Did you get a good look at the power of Leon, the young lion king?” Leon shouted holding his one edged sword in the air.
“We...We won...! We did it!”Theo said stowing his bow back in his quaver.
“Whoa! They defeated the monsters! ...They’re amazing!” Alph heard a civilian say somewhere.
“Are you all right?” Sir Heath asked a man that had been attacked by a monster.
“Y-Yes! Thank you very much! Who are you people?”
“We are from the Ever Garden.”Sir Heath explained.
“The Ever Garden...Then...That means you’re the Arc Knight! You’re Sir Heath!”
“That’s right. He’s our master. And he’s famous!” Theo said with a bit of pride in his voice.
“Yeah, you’ve got the right man. That’s Sir Heath.” Alph added.
“Thank you very much, Sir Heath...and everybody else from the Ever Garden!”
“Leon, take these people back to their homes.” Sir Heath ordered
“Yes, Sir! All right! Let’s move it, you guys!” Leon shouted.
“Huh? Oh...” A woman mumbled.
“You’re not supposed to be giving them orders, Leon. They’re civilians.” Theo said.
“Haha. Even Theo’s telling you to mind your manners, Leon.” Alph said laughing.
“Sh-Shut up...” Leon retorted.
“That’ll be okay. We can go back by ourselves.” The woman replied. “Thank you very much for saving us. I will never forget your kindness.”
“So...Mission complete?” Alph asked.
“I must say, we did pretty well for our first battle, no?” Leon said placing both hands behind his head.
“I’m flattered after being thanked so many times.” Theo added.
“We should also head home, as well. Back to the Ever Garden...”

Chapter two part1
Girl in white


“We’re home!” Theo shouted so every one in the Ever Garden could hear.
“We defeated those monsters today, thanks to God’s divine protection. Don’t forget to thank him. Protect the light, condemn the Dark.” Sir Heath told all the Garden Children.
“Protect the light...” Alph chanted.
“Condemn the Dark!” Theo finished.
“Hmm...” A girl dressed in pale yellow dress and white apron was standing by the dorm door.
“Huh? Who’s that in front of the dorm?” Theo asked.
“I have no idea...” Alph answered giving Theo no use full information.
“Yowza! What a cutie.” Leon added. “Hay, baby! Why’d an angel like you leave your pinhead to come here?”
“Hmm...” She muttered again looking quite cross.
“What’s your name?” Leon said, walking towards her.
“Hmm...You smell sweaty.” She replied.
“What, huh?” Leon said in shock.
“Hurry up and bathe. And don’t forget to cleanse the weapons you used against the monsters.”
“H-Huh? Who do you think YOU are...?” Alph shouted in outrage.
“Welcome home, everyone.” Cecille stepped in to keep the peace.
“Cecille!” Theo said happy to see her again.
“I’m glad everyone’s safe.” Cecille replied.
“Monster hunting is a piece of cake!” Leon added full of confidence.
“I’m still nervous, though...” Theo muttered.
“Well, let’s go inside. You guys must be tired.” Cecille said.
“Hay, what should I be doing? How long do I have to stand here?” the girl asked.
“Uh, Cecille. Who is this girl?” Alph asked with a sigh.
“Starting today, she’ll be the Ever Garden’s maid. She comes as a recommendation from the Millennial Sisterhood Committee.” Sir Heath explained to the Garden Children.
“A maid?” Leon asked.
“Why do we need a maid?” Alph asked.
“So we can focus on Witch hunting. You need to be ready at any time, so...She will be taking care of everything at the Ever Garden from now on: Cooking, Cleaning, Laundry and keeping you healthy...Her name is...” Sir Heath explained.
“Lucia. Nice to meet you.” The maid finished.
“Nice to meet you, too.” Theo said politely.
“What do you need me to do?” Lucia asked.
“Hmm...Let’s see... You can start by washing the dishes.” Sir Heath told Lucia. “Alph! Show her where the kitchen is.” Sir Heath ordered Alph.
“Huh? Why me?”
“It was your turn to wash the dishes today, right? So it is your responsibility to train your replacement.”
“Tch, what a pain...”
“Alph, this is one time I will gladly wash dishes for you.” Leon offered.
Lucia slapped Leon hard across the face. “Ow! What the hell was hat for?”
“Pervert!”
“Ugh...On second thought, it is your turn, Alph. Rules are rules, you know.”
“I don’t want to deal with a brat like her. You should do it, Cecille.”
“I-It’s time for me to go pray now...”
“Oh, come on. Please...”
Alph! I told you to do it. So follow your orders.” Sir Heath said with alarming anger.
“Yes, Sir...Ugh...”
“Very well. I will go and report to the Holy Congress’ eastern headquarters. Take care.”
“Well, it’s time for me to pray.” Cecille said whilst walking towards the church.
“My heart’s been crushed. I need to heal my wounded heart in town. See ya!” Leon said whilst heading towards town.
“I need to... repair my bow.” Theo said while he was walking towards the shed.
“Hay, Come on, you guys! Don’t leave me here alone!” Alph pleaded desperately.
“Hay, you!”
“What?!”
“I don’t do dishes.”
“Wh-what did you say?”
“It’ll dry out my hands. So, I don’t like doing it.”
“What kind of maid are you?”
“I choose my own job as a maid.”
“Grr...! Fine, then start cleaning. Go sweep the floors in the dorm.”
“Oh, okay. I’m fine with sweeping. Bring me a broom.”
“It’s right over there. Go get it yourself!”
“Bring me a broom!”
“Argh...” Alph went and got the broom and handed it to Lucia. “Here!”
“Oh, not bad. The engraving on the handle is very nice. The grip is excellent, and it’s well balanced...Very easy to use...And the weaving of the broom head is just superb!”
“...Why are you grinning at the broom?”
“Oh, n-nothing.”
“O-Kay, whatever...Just sweep up around here.”
“Hold on...”
“What is it now?”
“You really need to bathe. You smell really awful right now. Don’t forget to clean all the monster blood off your weapon!”
“Yeah, yeah...” Alph said starting to walk away, in his mind (What is up with this girl...?)
A little while later...”I’m done sweeping the dorm.”
“Wow that was quick.”
“Well, I’m good with brooms.”
“I see.”
“What should I do next?”
“Hmm...I guess I’ll give you a tour of our quarters. Come with me.”
“Okay”

So after taking Lucia around the quarters this happened. Alph yawned and stretched his arms in the air.
“You look like a fool with your mouth wide open. Don’t do that in public! Aren’t you supposed to be a knight!?”
“Shut up. Here’s your room. Why do you wanna stay out here? There’s room at the dorm, you know.”
“I don’t want to sleep in the same building as you and Leon.”
“Uh, okay, I guess.”
“I don’t want you wandering around here. Stay in your dorm.”
“I wouldn’t come here even if you asked me to!”
Later in Alph and Theo’s room they had a conversation. “Hey...Hey, big brother.”
“What? You can’t sleep?”
“Yeah, I’m still worked up...Today’s battle was crazy. We really whupped those monsters good!”
“Yeah, you did great out there, bro!”
“Do you think we’re gonna have to fight more of ‘em?”
“Well, Witches have reappeared...So, there will probably be more monsters.”
“Hmm...I’m a little worried, brother...”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be fighting, too. Get some sleep now, Theo. You need to rest so your body heals up, ok?”
“Okay, good night, Alph.” Theo said while yawning.
“Good night...I guess I’ll go to sleep too...”Alph replied yawning.
Inside of Alph’s dream... There was a female voice that sounded distant yet familiar...
(...1 broom, 2 brooms, 3 brooms...)
(...Huh?)
(Ooh, a golden broom! Wonderful...Mmm...)
(Who is this...?)
(Huh...What is this feeling...? Oh no...! Someone’s inside my dream...!)
(Huh...?)
(Is this...Alph...!? I can’t believe HE’S a Rym!)
(Is this... the voice of that weird maid?)
(Uh...I can hear you! And where do you get off calling ME weird!?)
(Witches created those monsters to destroy our peace, right? Our mission is to fight these Witches and the monsters!)
(Wow, you’re even dumber than I thought!)
(What?)
(I see there’s no point in talking to you any more. Just get out of my dream!)
(You...! Hey!!) Alph jolted awake after that and said to himself. “...That voice I heard in my dream... Was that Lucia...?”
Alph got up and ran to Lucia’s dorm out by the woods. “Hay! Get up!”
Lucia came to the door and yawned covering her mouth.
“What did you do to me?!” Alph shouted.
“...What are you doing here in the middle of the night?”
“You were the strange voice that was in my dream, weren’t you!?”
“...Huh”
“Hey!”
“What? Are you still half-asleep or something?”
“No! I WAS asleep until I heard your voice in my dream!”
“Well, EXCUSE ME! You’re the one that just came barging into MY dream!”
“What!?”
There was rustling be hind the trees around them and a deep low pitched growl... Three Cerberus came walking out of the woods surrounding Alph and Lucia. There was one that came charging in and stopped just between Alph and Lucia, this one looked entirely different from the Cerberus, it was larger and had one massive head with two long horns coming down over its blood shot eyes. This monster would be a tough battle for Alph to face alone...
“Whoa...”
“What are you doing!? Do you WANT to die here?”
“Wh-What is this creature!? This isn’t like the other monsters?”
“It’s a Behemoth, this thing is more powerful than the othe-. Let me guess. You didn’t cleanse your weapon like I told you to, did you?”
“Huh?”
“The scent of monster blood attracts other monsters! I can’t believe you don’t know that! Some knight you are.”
One of the Cerberus leaped out at Alph. Alph drawing his sword said. “Stay back, Lucia! I’ll handle this!” Alph bringing the sword up under the monster’s stomach, his sword did no damage and the monster landed in front of Alph and head-butted him ageist a tree behind him.
“Ugh, I can’t watch this!” Lucia started giving of a pale white light. “Move! You’re in my way!” Lucia now with a spear drove it into the monster’s back. Then said “Shine!” The monster started to glow then it vanished into the darkness of the night sky.
“What the...? That... Is that...?”
“What are you doing? Don’t just stand there! You need to focus and work with me if you want to live!”
“Shut up! Don’t tell me what to do!”
With a few bright bursts of light the monsters had all disappeared, the monsters where no where to be seen Alph and Lucia where safe.
“Phew. Finally!” Lucia said with a sigh of relief.
“You...Did you just use a spell?”
“Yes, I did.”
“You know an awful lot about monsters and...You...You’re a...You’re a Witch, aren’t you!?”
“Wow, you figured it out.”
“Huh?”
“Why the surprise? I know about monsters. I can use magic...Yes, I’m a Witch.”
“Um...” Alph was thinking at the same time. (Witches...They’re the ones who create monsters and destroy the peace. The teachings of the Luminous Verses say I must condemn Witches...) “Are you really...a Witch?”
“I just answered that. You’re really annoying.”
“Well then, I have to condemn you!”
“Condemn? You’re gonna kill me? Because I’m a Witch? Are you dumb?”
“Quiet! I will condemn Witches and bring peace back to the world. That’s what the Garden Children were assembled for! Prepare yourself, you Witch!”
“You think you can kill me? You couldn’t even defeat those weak monsters by yourself! What in the world makes you think that you can beat me!?”
“Ugh...”
“Besides, aren’t you forgetting something important?”
“Something important?”
“I just saved your life, you ingrate. If I wasn’t there, you would’ve been a monster’s dinner by now. So that means that I’m your savoir. Right?”
“W-Well... I guess that’s true...”
“So don’t tell the others about this! I still have many things that I need to take care of. This is an order from your savoir!”
“H-Hmm...”
“Do you understand?”
“...A knight never forgets a favour. I’ll keep quiet about your identity... But just for this one time! If you ever use your spell again, I’ll definitely condemn you next time!”
“Hmph...”
A little while later Leon came looking for Alph. “Alph. Where are you?”
“Leon! I’m right here! What’s up?”
“Hey...what are you doing here? Just you and Lucia alone, huh?”
“I-I was just taking a walk and I happened to run into her!”
“Oh really? Or...Are you guys...No, no, a man doesn’t kiss and tell. That’s not important now, anyway. We have an order to move out!”
“What?”
“They found the hideout of one of the Witches!”
“What!?”
“A Witch?” Lucia repeated.
“We’re heading out now. Prepare yourselves.”
“Okay!”
