The Legend of Fireburn, Spyro's Brother vol. One: A Hero Rises

Chapter One
The Seperation

No one knows this, but Spyro had four brothers. An electricity dragon named Electricshock, an ice dragon named Icefrost, an earth dragon named Earthtremble, and finally the youngest - a fire dragon named Fireburn. One day, while they were all playing, Gaul came and captured them. Only Spyro managed to escape, and soon forgot about his brothers. The four scared, young dragons were kept in one big cage. One day, Gaul and Malefor were talking.

Malefor: We only need the fire one..... Kill the others.

Gaul: Yes, Master.

Gaul opened the cage, but as soon as he did, everyone ran out.

Fireburn: Everyone! Come on!

Gaul grabs Electricshock and carries him away.

Electricshock: Help me! Someone!

Fireburn turned around to help his brother, but a rock wall seperated them. Moments later, while Fireburn was trying to break through, he heard Electricshock yelp and the sound of blood gushing. They all knew Electricshock was dead.

Chapter Two
An Evil Plan Unfolds

Five years later, Fireburn, Icefrost, and Earthtremble were invited to stay at a Temple. It was planned that Icefrost, would be prince because he was the oldest with Electricshock gone. But Earthtremble wanted to be prince. So he decided to kill his brother.

That night, Icefrost was by a cliff, looking into a deep river.

Earthtremble got a wolf and made it make paw tracks in the mud leading to Icefrost. Then the wolf left.

With a quick snap of his tail, faster than the eye could follow, Earthtremble hit Icefrost off the cliff, sending him to his doom.

"Fireburn! Come quickly!" he yelled. "A big mean wolf pushed Icefrost off this cliff!"

Fireburn couldn't believe it.

Now Earthtremble was going to be prince.

But Fireburn would always say, "No! Icefrost should be prince! If we replaced him, it would make his spirit very upset!"

But Earthtremble would always just order the guards to kick him out.

Chapter Three
Kicked Out

Ten years later, Earthtremble decided that Fireburn had to die.

One night, Fireburn was praying for his deceased brothers at the cliff edge.

Earthtremble came and pushed Fireburn so that he was hanging over the edge.

Then Earthtremble told Fireburn the last words Fireburn would ever hear, "I killed Icefrost, not the wolf. The wolf tracks were only there for proof. And now, now that you'll be gone, no one will stop me from being the prince of the Temple. And soon, the prince of every Temple. Then, I will rule the world!"

Fireburn cried. "Earthtremble..... How could you? I thought you were my brother....."

Just then, Earthtremble sent Fireburn to his doom, too.

Or so he thought.

Chapter Four
Reunion

!5 years later.....

Volteer joins the other Guardians, Spyro, Cynder and Sparx at the Pool of Visions.

"What's this about, Volteer?" Spyro asked.

"I have a secret," Volteer answered.

"A secret?" Cynder asked. "What kind of secret?"

"I was keeping him hidden because I didn't know what you all would think, but," Volteer said avoiding eye contact and keeping his head low and voice just loud enough for them to hear him. "I think it's time to show you."

"Show us what?" Sparx asked. "A cookie? I could go for a cookie."

Spyro shot Sparx a mean look.

Volteer went out the door for a moment. Then he came back with a nervous red dragon the same age as Spyro.

"Who's this?" Cyril asked.

"This is Fireburn," Volteer answered.

"Fireburn..... not a bad name. I'm Terrador," Terrador said.

Cynder, Sparx, and Cyril all introduced themselves.

Except Spyro.

Spyro walked up to the new dragon carefully.

"I feel like I've seen you before.....," he said. "...... What's your name, again?"

"Fireburn," the nervous new-comer said.

"Fireburn," Spyro answered. "That sounds familiar..... I'm Spyro."

"SPYRO?!?!?!" Fireburn exclaimed. "I thought Gaul killed you! I'm so happy you're alive, brother!"

"WHAT?!?!" Cynder said, shocked. "BROTHER?!"

"I..... I.....," Spyro stammered. "Yeah..... yeah, I know! I remember! You are my brother! Fireburn!"

"Yeah! You remember!" Fireburn said excitedly. "Our brothers are Electricshock, Icefrost, and Earthtremble. Gaul killed Electricshock, Earthtremble killed Icefrost, and tried to kill me, but failed. Hey..... where's dad?"

"Dad?" Spyro asked. "I..... we...... have a dad?"

"Of course, silly!" Fireburn laughed. "His name's Malefor, remember?"

There was a long silence. Spyro's smile disappeared.

"What?" Fireburn asked nervously. "What did I say? I just said Malefor is mine and Spyro's dad, that's all!"

"Fireburn.....," Spyro said as comforting as he could. "Malefor..... dad..... was possessed."

".....No.....," Fireburn said crying. "No! No! No! NO!!!!!"

He ran out the door, tears streaking down his damp face.

"Fireburn! Wait!" Spyro yelled running after him. "Come back! I'm sorry!"

Fireburn heard the sound of metal clanking, and tripped.

He got up quickly. His leg was caught in a hunter's trap.

"NO! NO! NO!" Fireburn cried. "Let me go!"

Spyro just arrived when he saw a horrible sight.

A mysterious black snake slithered up Fireburn's leg...... on his back..... down his shoulder..... onto his chest..... and into his heart......

The chain vanished.

Fireburn turned black. His eyes glowed white.

He stared at Spyro.

And tail whipped him.

Then Spyro realized what happened.

His own brother, right before his eyes, was possessed.

Now, let me explain something to you before I continue. Fireburn's mind is being pushed away. The black snake is in control of him now. Fireburn cannot control what he is doing, and can only watch helplessly. If you read the Animorph books, it's a little like a Yeerk. You'll see everyhting as Fireburn sees it.

Chapter Five
Possessed

I watched as Spyro cried. I watched as Cynder came running to help. I watched as the black snake took control. I watched as I fought my brother.....

The pain was unbearable. Not physical pain, like when you break a leg.

Mental pain.

Like you want everything to stop so you can just sit down and think about what's going on.

But you can't.

I just wanted my mind back. I wanted to move my legs and flap my wings...... To swish my tail and look around..... To tell Spyro I'm sorry.....

But I couldn't.....

Spyro scratched me.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you," he whispered. "I'm trying to help. Forgive me, please."

I dearly wanted to tell him it's okay. But, again, I couldn't.

Cynder hesitated, then charged.

I easily jumped to the left and out of the way.

I bit Spyro's leg.

He yelled in pain as his leg bled.

I wanted to cry. Really, really, bad. I wanted it all to stop. NOW!!!!!!!

Spyro jumped on me, trying to get me on the ground. I shook him off.

Cynder tackled me, too, but I didn't see her coming, and I fell.

"Argh!" I hissed. "Get off of me you twits!"

Spyro and Cyynder used a special power I didn't recognize.

I could move my own limbs again! I was in control!

I saw the black snake curse as it slithered away.

"Spyro! Cynder!" I cried. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"

"It's okay, we forgive you," Cynder said.

Later, at the Temple, Cynder explained what happened while Hunter helped Spyro to the Sleeping Quarters.

Everything seemed better, much better.

Until I remembered Earthtremble.

Okay, back to the way it was before.

Chapter Six
Planning

Fireburn had asked everyone to gather for a meeting.

"We have to stop Earthtremble," Fireburn encouraged. "When I was with him, I overheard him saying something about partnering up with Gaul."

"But Gaul is dead," Spyro said.

"No, he's alive," Fireburn said. "And we have to stop them both."

"Okay," Cynder agreed. "Me, you, and Spyro will go."

"Hey!" Sparx yelled. "What about me?!"

"Sparx..... you can't come," Spyro said.

"Oh, sure. Leave me out," Sparx complained. "Just like the Burned Lands."

"Do you know where he lives?" Spyro asked Fireburn.

"Yeah," Fireburn answered. "Up the river, up the cliff - we'll fly, of course - and through a little forest."

"Good," Cynder said. "Let's go."

Chapter Seven
Cronfrontation

Two hours later, Fireburn, Spyro, and Cynder arrived at Earthtremble's Temple.

When they burst through the door, Earthtremble and Gaul were planning an assualt on Dragon City.

"Party's over!" Fireburn threatened.

"Ha!" Earthtremble laughed. "Gaul? Go for it."

I'm really sorry the last chapter was so short! I'm trying to spread it out to ten chapters (somehow.....).

No prob, i like the story!

Chapter Eight
Versing Gaul

"Okay," Fireburn said. "I'll attack head on. Spyro? Attack from the air. And Cynder will try to disarm him, okay?"

"Got it," Spyro answered as he flew for Gaul.

"I'm on it," Cynder agreed as she joined Spyro.

Two hours later.....

Spyro examined his broken leg.

Cynder examined her broken wing.

Fireburn stared at Earthtremble.

Earthtremble stared back.

And flew away.

"Hey!" Fireburn yelled. "Get back here!"

"No," Spyro said. "Not now."

"But......" Fireburn protested.

"Spyro is right," Cynder said. We're beat up after that fight with Gaul. Another time."

Fireburn sighed.

"Alright....."

They all headed home.

That night, Fireburn walked out in the forest, looking up at the stars.

Although Earthtremble had escaped, Frieburn flet proud of their victory.

It was the shape of good things to come.
