my mom was talking about these guys today to me, i hate hypebeast get rich quick culture so much. i just want to buy pokemon cards

its very intresting how influential tiktok is as a tool for marketing, like the rise of labubus and dubai chocolate. it's very very very similar to youtube channels like ryan's toy reviews where kids watch another kid play with mysrtery suprise eggs which in proxy makes them want to buy the mystery suprise egg, however now its kids, teens, and adults wanting the latest craze. pokemon cards for example use to be very easy to get. but now with the rise of social media and logan paul's influence they are seen as get rich quicks so now people buy them in bulks or beat up children at their local walmarts to get a card of umbreon.

this doesn't just end with consumable products either. tiktok and other social medias are an easy way to influce people to thinking in certain ways without them noticing. for example, recently the singer benson boone has been said to be the musical equivalent to white bread, with a lot of memes repeating the same thing. eventually these memes will become the average opinion so now listening to benson boone makes you a boring person with no taste.
