Hey guys, not sure if anyone here will remember me, but I've decided to do a quick return and dip after making a large post elsewhere. I remembered the forums and the impact it used to have and went down a bittersweet memory lane today.

I can't remember the year I joined but I remember joining before Dawn of the Dragon came out which was 2008 release I think??? I just turned 28 recently now anyway How is everyone else doing and where has life taken you after all these years?
For me I ended up going into a lighting for VFX/animation career pathway and in 2021 I worked interstate (for me Queensland Australia) for a year, and have been remoting for the same company back in my hometown ever since. There may be potentially plans next year to move again interstate this time for NSW if I can get a position with a different company. But yeah currently trying to get a job elsewhere.
Oh and getting a late diagnosis of ADD was fun to happen this year lmao, explains a lot though.

Hello! You seem vaguely familiar? Welcome back! That sounds like such a cool career path omg. How are you enjoying it?

I was still in grade school when I was most active here haha. Now I'm turning 25 in a week or so. I've graduated college and am getting my PhD, both in biochemistry! I get to work with oxygen-sensing proteins and bacteria and it's v fun! Also wound up moving to a different state and live with my girlfriend and two cats. These days I'm super into tabletop and board gaming, and still do a bit of writing!

I remember you and I'm glad to hear that things are going well for you. It's great that you were able to pursue the career path you wanted. Welcome back, even if only for a short time!

Welcome back! I remembre seeing you around. Things have been quiet since the forum's regs are closed, but I've had job and creative works so I'm alright.

Oh wow yeah I see some familiar faces here which is lovely to see! Yeah Im back for a short time to check in how people are going, but yeah I'm then out of here haha. I do have Instagram and Facebook messager if people still wish to stay in touch though, happy to give it out in DM :)

Some cool jobs happening too which is nice! And yeah VFX is cool, but does have a ton of downs in the case of instability, and I gotta move interstate for it really until I get a lot higher in the ranks. It has a lot of issues with only wanting seniors too. But made it in finally and secured a job for 3 years, and work seems to be kicking up more next year. I wouldn't recommend it if you can't do contract jobs with instability lol. I'm having a backup plan by studying programming slowly.

Spyroboy I remember you were going through some tough times before I left, I hope things are better now, even just a bit? ;;

Honestly, the only answer I can accurately give is that I'm hanging in there. I'm trying to be okay but I really am not.


However, with the encouragement of Iceclaw, Bifrost, and ThunderEgg, I've started drawing again, so that's a positive.

Omg yeah 2015 that's so long ago, the year I officially finished with school, 10 years ago. that's great though you thought I was cool haha! And HeyItsHotDog I remember you!! All I can really say is to try your best and that there will always be light at the end of the tunnel ;; that's amazing you got into a passion though. Focusing on that will definitely help.

I definitely remember your username (and a few others on this thread, especially Spyroboy), though I'm not sure that we ever interacted. This month marks my 17-year anniversary of joining this site, and I'll be 28 this year, myself. My career path isn't half so exciting--I finally went back to finish college with a humble accounting degree just to get me the hell out of retail.

I guess I came back here seeking the same little dopamine rush I used to get, though I know those days are long gone. Still, it's good to see y'all are still truckin'.
