twitter is always exploding

youtube walkthroughs are ok but with copyright stuff who knows when something will change and they'll get taken down

discord servers ARE more convenient but they're not always easy to find and the information on them is locked behind closed doors

reddit is... reddit. also there's usually a lot of really redundant posts on there

Reddit is the closest to a forum but it is mostly teenagers or losers

I legitimately used the walkthrough on this site a few months ago while trying to help a friend beat The Eternal Night so I would be inclined to agree. I do not care if I could find the same walkthrough on GameFAQs, this site is more homegrown.

if this website disappeared it would legit send me through the 5 stages of grief. as sad as it sounds its like a Core Part of my childhood. i spent a lottt of time on here

I've been using this site for 11 years I hope it doesn't ever die.

i would volunteer to just host it but i dont have the time money and tech skills it takes to wrangle a community like this

websites like darkspyro is the best and its also a historic place. you can easily find info about the games, and useful game info from users about the games. this place can not be replaced, so i hope it stays alive for years to come. places like twitter, reddit or discord can never replace website and forums.

i think it is telling that dark continues to develop walkthroughs for new releases as recent as last year on sites like darkbricks and stuff. it mostly seems like a passion project for the guy. people have asked about hosting before i believe but it never went anywhere from what i remember. he might have not even responded.

I already watched DisneyInfinityFans die...be sad to see this one go to. But unlike DisneyInfinityFans this site had a long history from well before the TTL craze, so it would be even sadder.

darkspyro shouldnt close until i finish reading every funny post on the website.
i must say though it is depressing to come to the understanding that the site that shaped part of my psyche as a teenager is ultimately just an afterthought of a man who loves writing text walkthroughs. but i suppose every day people around the world have that type of revelation about their parents.

almost every forum or board i knew from back then is closed or completely done now it is so weird to me that out of them all this one is the one still there

The only alive forums I can find are like those Neocities throwback ones but they all have a bunch of drama which I guess is authentic to the forum experience but it's less funny when it's not about a niche subject like Spyro and everyone is above the age of 25 with the power to find your home address and the funny numbers on your credit card because you didn't like their furry candy gore art.

oh discord had a thing where they're changing the way your username works. so instead of Username#1234 you have to pick and @ sort of like twitter

oh for real i did not know i have not used the app in forever now sounds weird and possibly bad

yeah there's people worried about usernames getting stolen and stuff

i think when i think about it from a logical and technical perspective darkspyro should not stick around but because i do not want to do that and i just want fun i think fun is the reason why it should stay
