i used to be afraid of furries all i heard was the horror stories and had bad examples of people i knew IRL who were kind of furries but eventually i kind of came to realize grew up in that sense that they just have a particular interest in something that i at first didnt get but i have weird interests too and i dont see how its different so no i dont think furries deserve at all to be shamed no one does for liking whatever it is that they like at long as its not harmful content or hurting anyone in anyway same argument i make for K-Pop fans they have a bad rap because of media over exaggerating or cherry picking what they tell you and blowing it out of proportion and because its "weird" and "different" already to begin with people latch onto to that and view an entire community as just crazy weird freaky people and the same thing can apply to furries and other communities like that so i went from one side to the other wen i just sat there and realized.................hey theres no difference just an interest and hobby of people that other people like to shame more then others and i hate that so NO FURRIES DO NOT DESERVE TO BE SHAMED

They are just people vibing, embracing their interests and being who they really are.

I have made some friends on here long ago that were (are...?) furries, and they were some of the kindest and most down to earth people I have met.

Now, if I saw someone in a fursuit in real life, I may get startled, but if one thinks of it like a Halloween costume, it really is not that bad. Or...like a mascot costume!

I do not believe they should be shunned or shamed, but I can understand why people would be scared of them. Nonetheless, that is not a reason to make fun of anyone's hobbies. As long as they aren't hurting anyone, why should it matter what others do?

Only if they are of the following 3 degens:
-Zoophiles
-Pedophiles
-Necrophiles

If they are neither of those, leave them be generally speaking. Though that applies to people not in the furry fandom.

Actually something that bothers me is that in these debates is there's always an inevitable "only some furries are into the weird sex stuff not me" posts, but like dude if someone is judging your fandom on such a shallow level then you don't want them to join. Is there a tonne of weird content in the furry fandom? yes, is that actually a good thing? yes, furries have historically been one of the few welcoming communities to lgbt folk on the internet thanks to their openness. Leave the furries alone.
*This obviously doesn't include irl illegal content

Furry subculture is kinda cringe imo, but it's not worth shaming them over it. Although, depending on how much it defines them, I'd just wonder whether I'd actually wanna stick around with them tbh.

There was this guy I befriended at an arts festival just over a year ago, and at first he did fantasy-themed art, which I admired. But soon after we met, he became obsessed with furries, to the point where he'd barely draw anything else anymore. He even thought he'd have a shot at selling that kind of art, while apparently having no clue what Deviant Art was (or even any place for posting art besides Instagram). When I mentioned it to him, he assumed it just meant stuff like furry porn... which it turned out he also did. Seeing as he was also a little too immature and oversensitive for me to give my honest opinion without hurting his feelings, at that point I was like, oookay, not sure I like where this is going... and unfriended him.

Not saying that's all furries for you, but I wouldn't think that's just a rare example either.

I say to let people like what they like, as long as
they don't indulge in/like bestiality or something.
