i had an opportunity to go on an international trip several years ago bc one of my schools was working with a program that would make it super cheap. and i have to say. public transportation in countries outside of the usa can be really good

what gets me in my area is how slow it is compared to other countries. and unreliable it is. one the local transportation hubs was run down and breaking for years. it's walls were all rusted and falling apart, pretty dangerous. there's very few places to sit for if youre an elderly person or disabled. no public bathrooms either. and that thing is important to me bc i live with someone who always has to be aware of that sort of thing

i live in a small town far from public transportation. basically if you can't drive you are screwed unless you hitch a ride with someone. i wish we had some form of public transpo for people that don't have their license or can't afford a car etc. i knew a few people in school that weren't able to get rides to work and couldn't get their license because their parents didn't gaf about them. i had this problem with my mom but thankfully my boyfriend taught me how to drive. not everyone here has someone though (and it wasn't legal anyway bc your "guardian" has to be 21 and he was like 17). now that i'm of legal guardianship age i can legally help my friends get their license
in conclusion small towns needs better public transportation and a way to get kids licenses when they don't have anybody to help them

this is also awful my goodness... i lived somewhere like that once when i was younger and didnt drive it was like that always had to have someone else take me somewhere because there were no busses or trains around for the most part... that really sucks
