I've been thinking about this game a lot recently, it's mid in a lot of ways but I always come back to it. The transition from the tutorial cave area to Twilight Falls is high tier.

Anyway to keep this non Spyro related here's some goblins:

is because i knew what dotd was i played it when it came out like when i waaaaas what 15 and for what it was i enjoyed it especially because i was able to play 2 player with danny its the only game i would consider from this series to play at this point for the laugh and i think that all of the hate on it and mostly the people who liked it was some seriously over the top stuff like the later sky lander haters

so do i like it

i dont like video games im general and i dont really like spyro either but… i guess it was better than the other ones yeah why not plus the music was done by becky and gabe from twinsanity so yeah

I like DotD. I just like the other two Legend of Spyro games a whole lot more.

for what it is, dotd is pretty good imo. it's not a fantastic story, but it's an action-adventure game, not a jrpg, not a movie, so it's not gonna be a masterpiece of storytelling, and that's fine. fwiw, there is a good amount of interesting and creative plot points in there.

the game play is... tbh, there are only a few games where i think the game play is actually enjoyable, and this genre is not it, but it's not the worst, and if you're playing with the crappy wii controls, it's hysterical (that's a good thing). on ps3, the graphics were pretty, for it's time at least.

plus some great performances from great actors.

all the hate is kinda unnecessary and silly imo. you don't have to love it, i could see some people seeing it as a disappointing ending, sure (not really sure what you were expecting though), but i don't see what's worth hating like some people do. i think there was just a hate hype train that everyone wanted to be on (as is usually the case when things end. always, basically) and now it would be embarrassing to get off.

yes but i havent played it in a looong time. i know i can still say i like it because it's like this core memory from my childhood. i was so obsessed with this game.
but i know the story is disappointing, too short and pretty edgy lol. i remember when i first got the game, i didn't have a memory card so i would beat it in one sitting. the game was that short. i remember one run getting to burned lands and then the power went out. boom. GONE. i miss those days

it's interesting that you bring this up, because i was just thinking about dotd yesterday.

as something that was a comfort for me in my childhood, i like dotd. i used to distract myself from really tough things by imagining playing the game flying around the valley of avalar and twilight falls. but this isn't unique to dotd for me. i sort of did that with all of the spyro games i ended up playing at the time

as a game that's part of tlos, i don't like the shift in mechanics, artstyle and gameplay. whether or not they improved the experience, they're so drastic that it makes the tlos series feel inconsistent and rushed. which it is. i also understand why these shifts happened
