****sob story music play***** so Lindsey grew up with no friends in fact human contact was abnormal to begin with to this day Lindsey still has no friends and i do mean that my contacts are Danny.... and Erika when she doesnt have me blocked it seems at the moment SO i ask you darkspyro what defines a friendship to you like what makes someone your friend? is it someone you hang out with? does it matter if you get along? does someone have to get something out of it? does it matter if they cut their sandwiches in squares or triangles????

ds community apparently doesn't have friends

if i can really vibe with someone and can easily talk to them for hours, i consider them a friend. most of my friends i don't hang out with just because i'm not one to make plans. but basically just somebody i regularly talk to or can randomly hit up without it being weird.

sorry lindsey i accidentally saved your topic from the axe...

but, uh... this probably sounds overly literal, but if you look at the etymology of the word friend, it basically means love, or beloved. and i honestly think that's the best way of looking at it—your friends are the people you love. the people who you hold dear to you. and i don't think there are any rules involved in deciding that.

your friend could be someone who completely understands you and has all the same interests as you. your friend could be someone who's completely different from you but who always makes you feel happy to be around. you could love both of these people all the same.

i think it's okay if the "qualifications" for what makes someone your friend is something you decide on a case by case basis, because i don't think anyone should be allowed to tell you who you can love. i think that's for each person to decide for themselves. or rather, i'm not sure that you really decide it. i think it kind of just happens.

thank you, i appreciate you saying so. it took some time for me to put it into words, but those are my honest thoughts on it. it feels good—even a little funny—to hear someone describe my thoughts as nice.
