It’s alright; no matter how vaguely I’ll describe the situation, you could easily figure out where I am.

I was pretty pleased with how the pandemic was handled for the first two years. We haven’t even reached 100K total cases yet. Now however, it feels like the pandemic is finally here. The borders were closed for almost two years but we still tested consistently for it. Working on the same thing for two years is exhausting, as a result, I’m burnt out.

Traveling to a remote town breaks the monotony and is a huge relief.

There’s the remnants of a crocodile park just 200 meters down the road from where I’m staying. Apparently there are a few crocodiles still there, but I’m fine if I decide to not jump the fence. smilie

I’m not as excited nor as stressed as I was when I came here a month ago. I’m used to this now and the workload has significantly decreased. I may not be as excited, but I’m still very happy to be here. Beats working in the toxic workplace back in the city.

My DSLR camera. The landscape is gorgeous here and I like to have control over my photos. My iPhone camera and digital camera don’t let me play around with the shutter speed and aperture size/f stops.

It’s remote in the sense that the nearest major city is almost 1700 kilometers away. The town itself isn’t a dingy little backwater with no facilities. There’s an airport, shopping center and police station here. I’m working at the hospital, so if anything goes wrong, help isn’t far at all.

I wasn’t really sick, but the symptoms lasted longer than any colds or flu I’ve ever had. My salivary glands were frequently blocked and inflamed, my throat was sore, my sinuses were blocked, I experienced frequent headaches and I was restless.
