It's back! But is it really better than ever? Details (AND DOOOOOOOOOOM) at 11!
Welcome, welcome, one and all, to darkSpyro's year-end achievement awards: The Darkies! This is the second installment, coming hot of the heels of a first season plagued by production issues. Namely, the host was in Australia with limited internet access. I blame my assistant, Greg. Now then, before we detail the awards, let's go over a few ground rules and answer some questions.

Have you gone mad? What is this nonsense?
Well, we are in Stuff & Nonsense! And I can assure you that I'm QUITE crazy. But that doesn't matter. Having been here for nigh on eight years, I've seen my fair share of "User of the Year" award topics. And they all turned into popularity contests. So, naturally, the only scientific thing to do was to parody these topics. Hence, the Darkies were born.

How does the process work?
We have a series of different awards encompassing a variety of different aspects of the site and its user base. For each award given, there are two Darkies. The first is a reader's choice, where you guys vote on who you think deserves the award. The second is the editor's choice... which is moi, of course. Why do I pick my own? Uh... SCIENCE! Next question, please...

What do the awards look like?
Well, Greg has just informed me that, legally speaking, I cannot promise you anything if you win. I will however, write blurbs about all the nominees, and then make additional blurbs for the winners. You are more that welcome to save your winner's blurb in your Guestbook or something, because my lawyers are terrible and I can't claim copyright on any of this!

Can I nominate myself or my topic for a Darky?
Sure you can! ...Except for the awards that don't let you. Of course, I will not hesitate to call you out on this in your blurb. If you are uncomfortable with other members seeing your nominations, you may PM them to me instead of posting them here.

I want to write a blurb!
I'm flattered. Really. But this isn't something I'm really up for collaborating on. I do accept user ideas for awards though. In fact, a couple may have found their ways into this year's ceremony. If you can spot them, give yourself 3 sP points!

Why are you starting this so early? There are still six weeks left in the year!
In order to avoid the same *cough* production issues *louder cough* that filled last year's awards. I should start the actual awards around Thanksgiving. Unlike last year, however, I will have all the awards announced at the beginning. So hey, I'm improving at this! ...Right?

I am extremely offended by this and demand this topic be deleted right away! You're a mod, you should know better.
Well, that's not technically a question. *glares at Greg* Nonetheless, if you truly do not want to be included in the awards, I will respect your wish and leave you out of them. No questions asked.

The Lady Gaga Award
For the user who changes his or her avatar so often they may as well not have one!

The Janet Jackson Wardrobe Malfunction Award
Given to a user who makes the worst avatar change of the year.

The Comeback Kid Award
Given to recognize the return of a user who was gone for quite a long time.

The David Copperfield Award
For the user who disappeared so suddenly and/or spectacularly, it MUST have been magic!

The Dick Dasterdly Award
For the best topic-derailing user on the site.

The WALUIGI Award
Granted to the most random, unpredictable member on the site. Who knows what they might do next? Not me, that’s why I’m trying to find out who it is!

The Eon Duo Award
darkSpyro’s perennial “Cutest Couple” or BFF (if you’re not into the lovey-dovey stuff) category! Awarded to a pair of users who are so close, you find yourself wondering if they’re actually adoring brother and sister.

The Activity Level = Richard Simmons Award
Given to the most active member of the site for this year.

The Snake? Snaaaake? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE! Award
Given to a user whose activity level plummeted so low this year, you suspect they were constantly lurking around in a cardboard box.

The Yoshi Award
Given to the cheeriest, most upbeat member of the forum. (Caution: Experts agree thinking too hard about this award will increase your risk of developing diabetes.)

The Metal Baby Pink Gold Tanooki Rosalina Award
For the best alternate account made this year. Alex and test52 are ineligible, sadly.

The Nercomancer Award
Given to recognize a user’s outstanding achievements in dead topic revivals.

The Rule 63 Award (Created by Dragons-go-hrr)
Recognizes a member’s stunning achievements in constantly being mistaken for the wrong gender. It’s only a matter of time before we see the fan art…

The “It’s a @#%$ing Number Sign!” Award
For the worst Stuff & Nonsense trend of the year.

The Skylanders Award
Formerly “The Sonic Lost World Award.” Given to the gimmickiest user on the site this past year. A gimmick could be posting with certain quirks (like smileys in every post), RPing your posts as a character, an obsession with a certain work of fiction, or anything else you can think of to fit the mold.

The KARAOKE SUPERSTAR Award
Warm up your vocal cords, because this award goes to the FABULOUS user who can’t stop posting song lyrics.

The Unsung User Award
Given to a user who, although not very active, makes great contributions to the forum.

The Suggestion Box Superhero Award
Recognizes a user for coming up with the best ideas in Site Help & Suggestions. Bonus points if dark52 actually went through with it.

The Golly Gee Award
Recognizes the most polite user on the site.

The Gold Star Award
Recognizes the user who most improved his or her conduct on the forum this year.

The Brutal Honesty Award (Created by BrutalBash101)
In recognition of the brave user who stands by his or her opinion regardless of how controversial it is.

The Platinum Joystick Award
For your most enjoyable topic made this year in the Video Gaming board.

The “Remember the 90s!” Award
In the spirit of nostalgic, rose-colored glasses, we dedicate this award to the most enjoyable topic made in one of the Spyro Game Boards this year.

The Equal Representation Award
Because our lawyers strongly encouraged it to avoid a lawsuit from angry fans, we give this one to everyone’s favorite topic of the year from the Skylanders boards. …I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

The Party Like It’s 2008 Award
For your favorite topic made this year in General or Idle Chatter.

The “Level 60 Wizard, WITH MELEE ABILITY!” Award
In the spirit of personas, let us celebrate everyone’s favorite Role Play created this year. The RP can be an update of an older RP that ran out of topic pages, or something like that.

The Carpal Tunnel Award
For the most-enjoyed Forum Game made this year. The game needs to have been made this year. 2021 seasons of Survivor and Werewolf are eligible because otherwise most of the nominations would be “Something about the avatar above you”. And THAT’S NO GOOD.

The Achievements in Creative Commons
If you’d like, you may select a piece of Fan Art or Fan Fiction submitted to the Fandom boards this year (THAT ARE NOT YOURS) to receive a short blurb of recognition from the host. Wait, I didn’t agree to this? GREG, YOU TRICKED ME AGAIN, DIDN’T YOU?

In Memoriam
If you’d like, you may select a user who departed the site this year. The host will say a few words in remembrance of their time on the site.
