who's up for some workplace anecdotes? i work customer service/technical support for a tax company, and while that can be as boring as it sounds, it does now and then provide gems like this one...
so today this clown calls in. and i'm not just saying that, he was a literal clown. a cpa with a side gig as a circus clown.
these calls usually range between 15-20 minutes, but more complicated issues can really drag out, and this one was complex enough that i had plenty of time to learn way more than i needed to know about this guy.
he randomly volunteered this information, and at first i thought he might be joking, but he was quick to assure me that he meant it when he said that he was indeed a clown, and went on to explain that he used to perform in the circus on a unicycle. he continues to crack jokes and make puns throughout the duration of this call, but the clown topic passes.
then, all of a sudden, as i'm researching his issue for him, he tells me he needs to take a quick "juggle break." now, this one i was sure was a joke--surely he needs to step away for another reason and just made the juggle comment as a reference to the previous topic--until i hear it. i can actually hear the sounds of him throwing items into the air and catching them, all the while saying things like "oh yeah" and "whoo!" after a minute or two of this, i can hear him exhale as he sits back into his chair, exclaiming "that felt good."
honestly, i was stunned. this was out of the ordinary to say the least.
he goes on to tell me that, despite being older now, he still performs, now in smaller venues like bars and clubs, juggling, and that the patrons "love it."
may i remind you that this man was a certified public accountant.
i just thought some of you might find this interesting, so i thought I'd share it.
