no! they have clasps. the blue, red, silver and green pieces have a grab side, the yellow pieces were just ball pieces and the blue, yellow and silver pieces have an indent on the side to connect to each other.

they fit perfectly together smilie however, the green pieces could get too stretched if used a lot smilie

pieces look like this, you can see how they fit together like puzzle pieces

Huh... Okay. I'm sorry, K'NEX and Bionicle gave me trust issues, lmao...

They seem to generally be between $20-40 on both Amazon and eBay, for some big sets, too, so that's not half bad.

i remember i had bionicle, like some red and silver dude. i was interested but i liked zoobs more. just so much more freedom to make what i wanted instead of putting together a guy.

i remember i would make really long creatures like dragons without wings. i'd spend hours playing with these, zoobs are great smilie
