Welcome to The Intriguing Trivia Thread, where you post factual but interesting trivia that you know of. The only thing I ask is if the trivia you post is truthful.

Let us begin.

-Sea otters have "pouches" on their forelegs, to bring food up to the surface and their favorite rock for cracking clams and oysters open.

-The Voice Actor for Sir Daniel Fortesque (of MediEvil) actually wears a bucket on his head to record Dan's lines.

-Syrian hamsters are also known as "Teddy bear hamsters"

-Syrian hamsters are the largest hamster species as well as the most common in pet shops

-In the game Okami, it was intended to have a realistic style, but Clover Studios settled for a Japanese folklore style to avoid contest with other games with that style at the time.

finally a topic for me

if horses that are dominant in the OLW gene with another dominant OLW horse can produce an off spring with OLW/OLW and will not survive. this is called lethal white syndrome. (the wiki page for it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lethal_white_syndrome.)

a horse's heart is so large that when it is compressed fully, it will barely fit inside a 5 gallon bucket. a person can also fit their entire fist into the pulmonary artery. (artery that goes to the lungs). (wiki page of the circulatory system of a horse: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...em_of_the_horse contains actual image of a horse's heart.)

horses that bleed during running, e.g thoroughbreds, are given a specific drug called lasix. it causes the bleeding to not be as bad. what happens is the pulmonary capillaries that are in a horse's lungs get too high of a pressure, those capillaries burst and when the horse exhales, the blood comes out. they are known as bleeders. (heres the wiki page on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...nary_hemorrhage. it really is interesting.)

horses also can't vomit.

-Anteaters can't produce stomach acid. They use the formic acid of their prey as a replacement.

-There's a gene called Sonic hedgehog.

-Legends claim that a zoophyte (animal visually resembling a plant) called the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary grew sheep as its fruit.

-Animals could be tried in the medieval court system. Pigs were most common. Sometimes they'd even be dressed in clothes and given a human mask. It sounds silly indeed, but animals were sentenced to death for ludicrous reasons, like the cases of a rooster that laid an egg or a sow that apparently strangled a child.

-Neither can rats or rabbits!

-Koalas have two sets of vocal cords.

-Some of the roaring sounds in the original Lion King are done by Frank Welker. He used a trashcan to give them some more oomph.

Andrew Jackson loved cheese, and the people loved him. On his Inauguration Day, he was delivered a massive wheel of cheese, but it was so big they couldn't put it anywhere other than the main entrance to the White House. So, since one president can't eat that much cheese, he held a big party. Everyone went crazy for it, and the cheese ended up everywhere, including ground into the carpet. As you can imagine, cheese in your carpet for years on end, and a rumor went around that the White House entrance smelled awful in the summer. One day, a future first lady decided she'd have it recarpeted, and when she looked in the White House work order log, there was one from Jackson's presidency to recarpet the entrance to get rid of the cheese, but it was never done.
