It’s a crocodile. I love this stuff. It’s like a game of telephone, just going off of the tall tale observations of others. They don’t usually all look the same.



Yum. This is also where the term crocodile tears comes from, since these creatures would cry after eating a hearty meal of humans.

I love Catoblepas because how no one had any ****ing idea how to draw a gnu/wildebeest and it turned into... this

The catoblepas has pretty much turned into its own thing, included in monster manuals and video games, which is cool. I guess people don’t care for the classics like the Bonnacon.



Just can’t wait to be king! This a bit of a tamer lion depiction; there’s some real strange ones out there.

On the flip side, here’s a hyena with a human head in its mouth. They scavenged cemeteries apparently.
