Ok, so the other day I was playing DOTD on my Wii and I had been using fire for quite a while constantly (I had all the magic crytals) and then the game started freezing for a few seconds and then starting again and it kept doing this until I stopped using fire and switched to another breath. I've tryed the same thing on the PS2 in the same level but nothing happened so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Also before you ask I've cheaked the disk, there are no scratches on it or anything like that so I know its not due to that.

I don't really know what does it. Some days the Wii just runs slow. I had alot of problems between DotD, Acme Arsonal, and NFS Carbon. It goes finiky and stalls out with a buzz alarm. None of the buttons work, not even the reset. I usually disconnect the power then. It happens periodically.

I havn't had that problem that you said, but now I think of it I did used to get another problem with when I went into fury mode I couldn't use my fury attack, melle attacks or changed character, and even when I went out of fury mode I couldn't do anything so what I had to do was go into 2 player by using the other remote and then go out of two player and it would work again.

Well, the Wii is heavily based on the Gamecube (Hence why there's and emulator already), so it it's quite likley to happen.

No offence but.... What relevance does that have?

Well, im talking about your problem. The gamecube had issues of slowing down. It had the problem of overheating at times. And the Wii is heavily based on the gamecube. So, i dont find this surprising.

I just wonder if it is affected by heat. It says in the manuel to keep it away from heat sources. Computer chips behave diffrently @ different temps. My uncle has a liquid cooled computer. A 2000 model I think.

Well, it's true. Heating up is bad, it causes things to act slower. My pc stops if it has too much going on. It stops, then after 5 seconds, goes back to normal.

What? So basicly the Wii thinks that using the Fire breath on the game will heat up the console and then cause it to freeze? Is it me or is that major irony smilie

#10 Posted: 01:28:51 21/02/2009
No. But maybe DotD is giving the PowerPc (it's proccessor) to much towork at and has to slow down to proccess it all. After all, if it's the same PowerPC, it'll only be 64-bit

No, what I'm saying is that the Wii console itself generates heat and if it is in an enclosed space the heat dosen't escape and warms it up. So like when you play it for a couple of hours this happens, not right away when you start.

I know what you meant I just thought it was funny that it was heating up the time I was using the fire breath smilie. But yeah I can see why it would heat up and stuff I had been on it all day smilie

Maybe it is due to the screen being red and yellow, the Wii must be scared for it's life so it freezes. smilie

Still I'm telling you it must be due to the flame. Or for the amount of work that it must do in order to make all those polygons for the fire.

Yeah I say that fire is a lot of work to master, especially due to all those fireballs.

That happened to me on the Warfang Ruins level.

Seriously, instead of freezing, it crashed, something like that. The first time any of my Wii games even crashed! Man, a screech came and I had to shut down my Wii without saving progress smilie

I was downright mad on that time.

Maybe the Wii doesn't have the capacity to handle something like that for long periods of time? My friend's Wii has been known to shut down randomly after a few hours of playing, and she keeps hers in open space, so it's not overheating. I don't know, just a guess.

Could be the CPU throttling (automatically slowing down) so that it won't overheat and burn out?

I was talking about 2 1/2 hours (that's what it took for my friend's Wii)

The case itself retains heat. At my house more than just myself play it. This thing could be on over 12 hours a day. If you put wour hand on top of it you can feel the heat.
