Ha, well, not ruined exactly, but she's going to have a lot of responsibility for the next 25-ish years.

Yeah, I had a friend in high school who got his girlfriend pregnant. He didn't graduate. He has no social life and doesn't talk to or see anyone besides me. His life IS ruined because of the child.

Lesson learned kids, be prepared to for the consequences of your actions.

Oh, we've been out of high school for a year now. She's got a lovely boyfriend (the father) who is very supportive and is very likely to stick with the family. They rent a granny flat and seem pretty stable, actually.

I just meant that it's a lot of pressure to be responsible for a child's wellbeing, and I would personally never want to put myself in that situation.

I definitely would not want to have kids, even if I was... physically capable of doing so... smilie
Taking care of children is just so much responsibility and so expensive and I wouldn't want a child to have to grow up under the care of someone as incompetent as I would be as a parent.

I don't think I want to be a father. I don't like tons of responsibility and that's the largest responsibility one can take on. Plus from spending time with cousins I find children to be extremely annoying and obnoxious.

Hopefully I can one day find someone who agrees with me.

Three of my exes got pregnant.

One kept the kid and didn't finish school as a result. She's currently married to a lower enlisted USAF dude. In other words, she's sucking his benefits dry and he's raising a kid that's not his.

The other two went with adoption and are leading relatively normal lives now.

The first one is out of my life completely, but I'm on Christmas card terms with the latter two.

EDIT: In case it wasn't clear, none of these kids are mine. And that being said, I do have several friends who had kids young and everything's going fine with them.

^ Yeah, glad you made that edit because I would have thought you were the father!
I think it just depends on the situation, really. There are two people I know of who actually did have children during high school and had to drop out as a result. One of them is doing completely fine, and I often see her around working at a local tobacconist. Have no idea about the other though.

Kind of on topic, but I was talking about a similar subject with my ceramics teacher and she thinks I'd make a good mother. >\\\\\<
However, it's way too much pressure and responsibility for me. It's one of those choices you need to be 100% sure about because you can never back out of it, and I don't think i can ever be able to make that decision. And yes, as Shibaru said, they are a huge expense. That puts me off greatly as well.

If it was her plan all along and can provide. Congrats.

I don't plan to have children myself. My siblings robbed me dry of any kid patience in my body.
