As the title says, talk about heckin obscure af animals that you don't see a lot of art, info, or even a lot of people talk about.

--

This is a Bilby (Also known as the Rabbit Bandicoot). It is a native of Australia (only makes sense), it hops about like a rabbit, and it's endangered thanks to people bringing invasive species of animals. I think they're adorable and deserve more attention.

Also they look like opossums when they scream like this

I don't know why, but I used to really like frilled neck lizards.

I never expected them to get Pokemon based on them (Helioptile and Heliolisk).

On mobile so no pictures, but Cassowaries are great.
They're like displaced dinosaurs, on top of a fluffy Emu body, or like a Turkey mega evolution. They have crazy screeches. They kick snakes to death. They also try to kick people to death, which isn't as cool. But they're very scary for such a goofy animal and I love em.

You guys are fools. All these Australian animals you guys are posting are all very much well known to us haha. I'm surprised the rest of the world doesn't know about them?

Fun fact: We kinda have an Easter Bilby here as a lesser known alternative to the Easter Bunny.

I think you'd be surprised at how many animals people outside of Australia do not know. Like I knew quite a few animals because of media over here going "LOOK AT THESE KANGAROOS" and really pick the more popular animals.
Hell some people in the US don't exactly know what an otter is and assumes it's a fancy beaver.

Also I love that fun fact.

Cool! I never thought I'd meet someone that knew about caecilians either!

Anyway, guess I'll post another obscure animal. Meet the binturong, or bearcat:

And no, it's not related to bears or cats.

For one of the book series I'm writing, I needed a main character who was an amphibian, so I did some digging around, discovered caecilians, and made my character a caecilian. I'm probably the only person ever to write about one in a fictional fantasy setting, but there you go. smilie

many of these aren't obscure animals, they're convincing, constructed fakes designed by the shadow organizations that control our world's governments and civilizations by will of the devil himself (much like dinosaurs, apes/monkeys, and little people)

> implying im not real

I can agree to this.
