idk why but it seems like nowadays a lot of movies and tv shows portray serial killers as sexy misunderstood awkward geeks that make the girls go crazy for them? see my friend dahmer for example. the original novel had really quirky art that made the book scary and surreal but the movie adaptation made him a disney star. then look at elliot rogers, an incel who got women chasing after him when he murdered people. what is it with people being attracted to serial killers?

There's an entire True Crime community on Tumblr that is exactly this and it's really gross. They like ship them with each other and talk about how troubled and misunderstood they are. uwu sweet muwder babies jus needing wuv.

A lot of people think the attraction comes from like "Well I understand this person, so they would've saved me" or thinking that they could've been the person to change them. It's weird.

lets just get one thing straight here, being a social outcast =/= serial killer. we good? good.

in a way, serial killers are misunderstood. most male serial killers are men who've been abused by their mothers and made to hate a women. however, hollywood doesn't understand that their hatred for women is so deep that they would consider killing one. rather the media believes that they're just kids who are edgy and were bullied in high school or something. i hate how hollywood glamorizes serial killers


now, there are some serial killers who were born psychopaths, like dahmer. he came from a middle class family, and some sources say that he was either doted upon or ignored. one thing is certain is that his mother was a very anxious personality, i guess i can see how there might have been some neglect, i'm not too certain. dahmer was seen as a social outcast by his peers, and i think thats what hollywood latches themselves onto. they dont understand the mental issues that dahmer had, nor do they care. if they can sell it to an edgy teenage girl, they can and will.

as dirtprincess said, the people who are attracted to serial killers think that if they understand the serial killer, then they will be spared. if this is true, i cordially invite them to take a joyride with the green river killer and see how it turns out.

I think many were known for their charisma, which they'd use to lure in victims. Attractive actors convey this best

i've noticed a trend that if the killer in question is hot they get popular despite all the **** they do, and if they're not then they're hated. so i guess hollywood wants the killer to not be hated and hence makes them hot, since the 'badass' persona is a popular thing. i think it's really stupid myself and just.... no. :\
