Today, we lost a valued and loved franchise: Skylanders. While hated by some, if not many, it was a strong series that was admired and praised around the world. It wowed, inspired and amused us with it's colorful world, full of fun, humor, imagination, and passion. The world that was made was full of untapped potential, and it saddens me to see that, at least for now, we will not see that potential at it's fullest. We can be sad that it is gone, but at the same time, we should smile because it happened. I know many of us here owe much to this series, including myself.

And for that, I thank Spyro, Grill Grunt, all the Skylanders, and of course, TfB and VV. Those two game studios are the ones who made the series what it was: a wonderfully Fun Experience. Such variety, creativity, love, effort, and more put into the series. We all thank you, so, so, so much for what you've given us. I'll never forget the adventures I had in Skylands and will cherish these memories forever.

Again, thank you, Skylanders and the Portal Masters of TfB and VV. Thank you for so much.

Here's some music to go with it. Maybe a bit up beat, but it's still very emotional.

Amen to that.

Skylanders is honestly such an important franchise to me for understanding a lot of my current character design philosophies and aesthetics. I wouldn’t be half the creative force I am today without such unique characters and gameplay to attach myself to and try to imitate. I haven’t played a Skylanders game in forever, but man do I love the franchise so much.

It’s not perfect, and I get that. At the end of the day, it was a big marketing ploy to sell plastic figurines to idiots like me, but those plastic figurines looked good to me, damnit!

Oh, was it finally confirmed as dead today? Thought things were looking that way for like the last year now.

Was what got me to join the site, but I just couldn't keep up with the costs and fell out after Swap Force. Still, it's a neat game I enjoy and I still like some of the characters like Chop-Chop and Stealth Elf.

"Goodbye my lover, sayonara".....

I wasn't with you from the beginning but you became a series I loved. You entered me into a world of wonder and adventure that simply cannot be replicated. Such a huge variety of characters.

You had your highs and lows but even during your lows you had a charm to you.

It was a series that me and my Grandmother could really bond over, we loved the strange and unusual creatures.

May you be able to pass on in peace. Nothing will ever be able to give me the same feeling as you have.

It's weird to say, but what a bummer. Skylanders was the reason I joined here and also was what reinvigorated my love of Spyro. I stopped after Swap Force, but I still have happy memories with the games, especially Spyro's Adventure.

RIP.

Every one was in denial of the series ending, not about you being right.

Does everyone have some favorite memories of the series? I'll post mine a bit later.

While it sounds cliche, my favourite moment was the first time summoning a character in the first game. It was such a magical experience for my then 10 year old mind ( Holy **** that was 7 years ago, I feel old af ;____; ).

EDIT: Another moment was finally getting Wham-Shell, the last figure I needed back in the day of the first game. God that was a hard figure to find.

I couldn't find Cynder anywhere Wham-Shell was one of my first Skylanders iirc (I probably wrong but Cynder was so hard to find)
My favourite memory with Skylanders was probably Sunburn I love that boi
Also I used to think Sunburn was a girl and when I learned he wasn't I was shook
Also Skylanders was my first experience with shipping and writing fanfiction so without that I would be a very different person today

Sad to see it go but I was getting tired of it. I still haven't played the adventure pack levels in Imaginators. Plus I'm completely out of shelf space now lol.

Just get them on a drawer, they fit just fine. I don't have any other figures that aren't my custom stuff on the shelves so mine will be Skylanders for the foreseeable future, but I might store some to make space for kirby and spyro merch.

One thing I didn't like is that with all of the characters, barely anyone got characterization.

But that's what fanfiction is for, I guess.

I heard about this last night and I’m still shook. On one hand, Skylanders has been around longer than I thought it would (I legit thought Trap Team would be the last game tbh), but on the other hand, I was literally just thinking about Skylanders a few nights ago and almost sat down to play Imaginators, then the series was officially canned less than a week later. This was inevitable, that’s obvious. Sales for Skylanders have been plummeting with each new game that came out iirc. All the other toys to life games seem to be dead as well (is amiibo still a thing?). But that doesn’t make it less sad. Skylanders has always been a series that feels very, well, magical. Sure sure, magic doesn’t really exist, but back in the day, every time I’d play Skylanders, it almost felt like it was. Just for a bit.
It’s sad that it’s gone forever now. There’s still so much that could’ve been done with Skylanders, if you ask me. But TTL is dead, Academy is ending after season 3, and I’ve no idea what happened with the comics. Sure there’s all the old games, there’s still the old comics, and there’s still the final season of Academy, but the thrill of those will eventually die for me, as they might’ve already for everyone else.

This happened

Basically, Acti didn't include Skylanders in their slides for their recent conference call a.k.a they don't consider it a major asset anymore. Also Skyalnders Academy is ending with S3 so yeah.

Note that the Academy thing is just speculation.

But still, the fact that Activision said nothing about Skylanders, including the mobile game that'll release in a month or two, is not a good sign.

I’d like to share some! ^~^
One memory that stands out was realizing that Whirlwind (one of my first non-starter pack Skylanders) wasn’t as lame as I thought she was. When I couldn’t beat Drill-X and all my other Skylanders died in the battle, she was the only one who managed to beat him.
I also used to play the games with my younger cousin, but most of my favorite memories of those times are the ones where we played with the figures, not the games. We had the Skylanders go on all sorts of adventures in a lego world, I look back on those days with so much nostalgia.
