It depends on context. In the 1978 video game, Spyro -22: Spyro does his Tax Returns, Shmoobyblob Josephine was a well loved character but progressive movements criticised the name because it had negative connotations that needed to be ousted. Since then, there's been debate as to whether or not the game should have it. In 1978.5 it was announced Spyro -22, as well as other games before what so-called fans call "the original trilogy" would be remastered in 2018. There's apparently going to be two versions - a Shmooblyblobishous version, which will contain Shmooblyblob Josephine, and the Director's Cut version which will call the character Josephine. So long as the game discloses that this is how things were at the time, Shmooblyblob Josephine - as well as any of the other ideas of the time - should be kept in-tact. I would however allow the DC version to have all kinds of modern ideas and gameplay choices.

Little known fact: Shmooblyblob Josaphette appears in the bootleg game Spyro -6: Big Trouble in Little Metropolis. It did however inspire a game in the Johnbonne & Spyro series, which is considered to be closer to the original canon than the again so-called "original trilogy".
