The Portrait of Markov

1:The Long Lost Sister

Well, that escalated quickly.
Just a few days ago, my parents had sat me down on the couch of our dying home, where everything looked as if it were taking its last breath, I was sitting on the couch, which squeaked with pain as usual. When my parents surprised me by telling me that they had found my long-lost sister. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it, in fact, I didn’t believe it, until I got the call from her a week ago, where she had told me that our parents had planned me to move in with her, and go to her school. For a while, I wasn’t too excited, until I considered the new experiences I would have with her, and with her new school.
Finally, I would leave our dying house, and it’s cries of pain. My parents also planned on leaving our house to die peacefully in 2 weeks, as they are planning to start a new life, so, that’s nice. On Monday, I hopped in a car, and planned to drive down to the city my sister lives in, apparently, she lives in a small town in Illinois, so It’s definitely a long drive from my home in Michigan. It’s friday now, so we should be their soon. I’m honestly very excited, although it’s been a very long trip, and at that, a very tiring one. We are getting close to our destination, which is apparently called Garrotsville, quite the strange name if you ask me.
We enter the town, thanks to the help of the wooden sign that says, “Welcome to Garrotsville,” and I begin to look around. Although I’m only given a few seconds to look due to my parent’s method of driving, which is make sure you go the fastest you can go, which here, is 50. I do see plenty of things along the way. Including this strange looking building. How do I describe it, the building is huge, and is covered in these weird amount of grey bricks, at least around the top, as the bottom is swallowed by trees. It also is giant, the second floor seems to cover a long way, I couldn’t tell you how long it actually was, but just imagine putting your middle finger in front of your face, then pushing it back really far away. I hope that helps. But aside from that one place that looks like a Serial Killer’s Hideout, the rest of the town is pretty normal. I didn’t really see anything mind-blowing, or anything that looked out of place.
Well, until my mother said, “We’re here!” I looked over, and looked at my sister’s place, I was decently surprise. It was a two-story house, that was covered in red bricks, the bricks were arranged in a strange way, the darkest red bricks were laid at the bottom, and the lightest red were laid at the top, it looked slightly artistic. The outer-rims of the windows were lime green, and to be honest, they did not fit with the rest of the house. Then, I got to the door. The outer-rim of the door was also a lime green, but it was slightly darker, almost as if a slight bit of shadow was on the rim. The door itself was a dark blue, with a few scratches on the front door. Clearly my sister didn’t care much for the look of her house. But I think it looks good enough. My parents ushered me out of the car, and we walked up to her front door. “Go on,” My father says, as if he were walking me down the aisle to get married, “knock on the door.” I slowly walk up the stairs, taking a step every second, before I end up at the door. I take a quick breath, “I’m going to meet my long lost sister, I’ve never met her before, but I’m excited.” I trail on that thought, pushing out any negative thoughts, and push the doorbell. I know my father said to knock on the door, but I wanted him to know I’m still the little rebel he knows I am. I hear the doorbell go off inside the house. And I wait outside, waiting for my sister to open the door. I hear footsteps, not walking slowly, for some kind of dramatic reveal, but as if she was really excited to see someone, to see me, her long-lost sister, who will be living here for the next couple of years, until we part our separate ways. I take on last deep breath, waiting for her to open the door. The anticipation welling up inside me, like a balloon about to pop. The door suddenly swings open.
“Hi Kara,” My sister says in an excited tone, “Come on in.”

2:Meeting Monika
My sister had let us in, and we went into her place. I was slightly confused, I didn’t even know that she was allowed to have her own place, rather, I didn’t know anyone allowed to have their own place. She had sat us down on her couch, which did not scream in pain and agony when I sat on it, and went off to get some tea for us.
I took this time to look around her place, it seems as if my sister was as much of a color freak inside as outside. Her ceiling was a deep reddish, orangish color, her walls were a bright yellow green with a deep black zig-zag, separating the yellow green with an ocean-like blue. The couches were covered with a very light purple, and the floor was basically a flat tree. I could tell my sister had her own vision about the mixing of colors.
“She’s great,” my mother says to me, noticing I’m not really paying attention.
I continue to stare at the wall, “Maybe, maybe not,” I tell her, “It’s all a matter of opinion.”
“Well,” My mother replies, looking for something positive to say about her, I can tell because of the way she looks around, and the small pauses she has, over time, you see things and learn what they mean, “She has very nice, decorations.” It seems as if she had the same thoughts about her choice of colors as me.
My father was simply waiting for my sister to return, and was looking in the direction she went to get the tea. My mom and I had a short discussion about the look of the place, while my dad was just looking in that same direction. Until my sister came back with two mugs of tea, setting them down on the glass coffee table, in front of me and my mother.
“I’ll be right back, just need to grab the tea for dad and I,” My sister said, before rushing back to her kitchen. I could tell she was really excited, and I understand why, I mean, if you learned that you have had a long lost sister for your entire life, and you just found out, and she came to visit and live with you. Then, you would be excited too, wouldn’t you?
My mug was a unique one. It was the blue of a robin’s egg, and it looked like a frog, part of it’s back was caved in for the mug, to fill it with, whatever drinkable liquid you want. It looked a little strange, considering the lack of handle to pick it up with. I didn’t even look at my mother’s mug, I just took my frog mug, and took a sip, of the light brown tea. It tasted pretty normal. A mix of hot and cold, blended to make a warm, bitter drink. Although I don’t usually like anything bitter, tea is usually an exception. My sister came back in, with both my dad’s mug, and hers. She set a mug in front of my dad, it was normal looking, it was a dark green mug on the outside, and a bright white on the inside. While my sister took a mug, that looked like a section of a tree, or at least the bark of it, as the inside was caved in. It was dark brown, and bumpy, basically just imagine the bottom section of a tree with a handle on the side with a similar look, my sister then sat down on another couch, it looked exactly like the one we were sitting on, a very light purple.
“It’s really great to meet you guys,” my sister says, in her usual, excited tone, “I didn’t even know that we were related, hell, that you guys even existed until the match came up.”
“Well, it’s possible we might be related because of your father’s past life,” my mother said to her, my father has a look of disappointment on his face, and looks down at the ground in shame, “it was very, tropical, to say the least”
I know what my mother was talking about, and why my father was so in shame. My father used to live a very promiscuous lifestyle, full of drinks, one-night stands, and hook-ups. That all changed when he found my mother. And he swore, that if they got together, he would stop his old lifestyle, and he upheld his promise. My father has never gone on a night of fun ever since they began dating. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was from one of his many nights.
My sister giggled, “Sounds fun, I mean, it’s pretty normal for people in my school, getting, “funky”,” putting the emphasis on the word funky.
“I don’t believe I’ve actually introduced myself, my name is Monika,” my sister says. So her name is Monika, huh? A pretty strange name, but not very far from normal. She has white skin, as well as green eyes which are a mix between light and dark. She is wearing a lightish grey shirt, and a small skirt, which kind of worries me, wondering if she is just a promiscuous as my dad’s past. But, it could just be normal wears for her. She has lightish brown hair, and two long ponytails.
“You seem to have an, interesting taste in colors,” I say, my tone is kind of backwards, almost negative.
“I don’t know,” Monika says, “I think they look nice.”
“Oh, well, uhm, sorry,” I say, I often say sorry for things I shouldn’t really be sorry for, but I always feel guilty, like I should be saying sorry.
“No, it’s fine, it really is fine, I take a lot of suggestions, it’s how I ended up with this,” Monika says.
The conversation continues on, with each of us trading questions and background information, I can already tell I going to like my new sister, and I’m going to love living with her. But soon, my parents begin to walk over towards the door, and I realize what they are doing. I walk over to them, and begin my small goodbye speech.
“Listen, mom, dad,” I say, with tear beginning to well up in my eyes, and my voice becoming slightly higher, “I would just like to thank you, for taking care of me every single day of your life, I would like to thank you for working hard for both my needs and wants, I would like to thank you for loving me for over 17 years, and I’d just like to say that I love you guys, and I’m going to miss you.”
My parents both look at me, I can tell that my parents are starting to well up as well, they both look at me, and at the same time, they say, “We love you too, and are going to miss you very very much.” We begin to embrace, one final hug, before my parents disappear to a new life forever.
After that, my parents open the door, and I mutter one last, “I love you,” before my mother says, “I love you too,” followed by dad, before they disappear into the dark, to leave me forever.
“They seem nice,” Monika says breaking the silence.
“Yes,” I tell her, tears streaming down my face, and my voice becoming a leaking tea kettle, “Yes they were.”

It’s been a week since I moved in with my sister, and I’ve learned so many things about her since. First of all, she likes to write short stories. And she writes a new one every week, she doesn’t even type them out on a computer, she takes a pencil and paper and writes them. I’ve read some of them, and she has a split between good and bad. For example, my favorite story is one she calls, “The Bandit”, it’s about this criminal, who falls for a police officer, and tries to continue his crime spree, and keep his identity a secret from the officer. It’s a really great story, and I read it multiple times throughout the week. She tends to write 1 new story every week, although some stories can take 2 weeks. This week, she’s writing a story called, “Together Again.” It takes place during the cold war, and has a young boy, who lives in East Berlin, as the star character. They live in loneliness and seclusion, before the wall is broken down, and he finally meets his family. But he becomes suspicious that his family isn’t his actual family, and thus conducts his own investigation. That’s according to Monika of course, and I really can’t wait to read it. It’s the day before school begins again, and I’m very excited, yet very nervous at the same time, then again, that’s pretty normal for the first time at a new school.
For the the entire week, Monika and I have been rushing around to get school supplies for me. It was pretty stressful, for the first two days, which is when we got everything I needed. So, it’s been pretty relaxing nowadays, we are just kind of waiting for this next school year to begin.
This morning I woke up on the second floor, I had become used to the deep red ceiling, the lime green walls covered in the occasional bumps, the darkly colored wooden floors, probably covered in stain. I had seen it on the first night there and was slightly weirded out by them, but by now, I had grown used to it. I walked down the steps, with every 2nd step making a creaking noise.
“Good morning, Kara,” Monika says to me, it seems as if she’s been cooking breakfast for a while, “want some breaky?”
Breaky, strange way of saying breakfast, but I’ll live.
“Sure,” I reply, hearing the sleep in my own voice, “what is it?” I continue over to the kitchen. She has two plates, they have two toasted english muffins, both cut in two, each topped with a fried egg, and two pieces of bacon. Very fatty breakfast indeed. The smell is unique, almost like grilled meat from a barbecue. She also has our two glasses from all the previous days, all filled with the same light brown tea, as always.
“It’s simple, doesn’t really have a name to call it, but what does,” Monika tells me.
I nod, showing that I understand what she is saying before I take one of the plates, where the bacon is set in the formation of an X. I set it down at the breakfast table, which is a mix between very light and very dark wood. I head back to the counter to grab my frog mug, and take it back to my table. I take a seat, and begin to eat my breakfast. I use my my fork and knife, to cut into the egg, as the dark yellow yolk spills out all over my plate, I take the bite of the egg, it tastes warm, and has a nice meaty flavor. I also take of one piece of the bacon, and begin to eat it. I don’t really think that you need a fork and knife to eat a piece of bacon. I think bacon tastes nice and meaty, despite being a slice of burning pig flesh. Monika grabs her mug and plate and sits down as well. She takes a quick sip of her tea and sets it down. I begin to notice she moves her tea mug up to her lips and down to the table pretty darn slowly, but not so slow that’s it extremely noticeable. It’s possibly a nervous reaction, or it’s just something she does naturally.
“So, how are you this fine morning,” Monika asks me, she says this quite confidently, considering for the past couple of days, she would usually stammer when talking to me, she probably feels more confidence, since I’ve been living with her for almost a week.
“Well, I’m doing just fine,” I reply, “I guess I woke up a little bit late, didn’t I?
“Yeah, It’s 8:30,” Monika says to me.
“8:30,” I say loudly, but not loud enough to where I’m yelling, “that’s wow, I don’t even know, maybe my alarm malfunctioned or something.”
“Yeah, it was strange, thought you were dead, or that you disappeared or something,” Monika tells me, with a smirk on her face.
I let out a small, “heh” before Monika says, “So, you excited about school starting up again.
“I’m both excited and nervous,” I say.
“Well, that’s normal,” Monika says, averting her eyes to the right for a second before looking back at me, “getting into a new school is a unique and terrifying experience.”
“Yeah, I just, oh my god, I don’t know how to describe it. I mean, is there an cool things at this school,” I ask Monika.
“I mean, if you’re really interested, there’s the anime club, who’s led by Matthew Brown,” Monika says looking upward.
“Sounds neat,” I say, “I don’t really watch anime, so I wouldn’t know a damn thing about it.”
“You might want to be careful with that language,” Monika says, “Mr. Alec doesn’t like a potty mouth.”
“Oh come on, damn isn’t a bad word,” I say, in a sort of complainy way, complainy, is that even a word, I ask myself this in my head.
“Well, how about, we finish our breakfast, and then we can spend the rest of our day looking around the town,” Monika suggests, once again supporting that smirk.
“Sure, that sounds like a good idea,” I say.
I don’t know why, but something about that smirk, makes me feel a little uneasy about Monika, but maybe it’s just my nerves getting the better of me.
Or maybe, it does mean something more.

Awwww, I was liking The Sound of Thunder.

But, I'll tell you, I think I like this story even more, and the way that you put it together (writing-wise) is actually quite the improvement over the last story. Very impressed.

I hope you keep going with this one, I really enjoy it, quite honestly.

I'm also very curious about the name. Should I wait and see?

Monika, like Doki Doki Literature Club? X3

For whoever keeps reporting these kinda story topics: if it isn't fanfiction it doesn't belong in the non-Spyro fanfiction board. As far as I'm concerned Stuff and Nonsense is the best place to post them.

Idle Chatter counts as well, but then it just depends on KPK's target audience - people who he hangs out at in Random Topic or whoever stumbles upon that slow section.

It's not my cup of tea but keep on writing man, don't let your stories stay in your head alone.

I’m gonna be honest, when I first saw the town, I wasn’t thinking of it being New York City, with all of these cool monuments, and great stores, and big businesses. But I also wasn’t expecting this. Most small towns usually have something, anything that means a lot to that town, or something that is a part of only that town, something special. But this town is a bit ridiculous. The only places that you could probably find anywhere else in the world, or at least in America that are this town are the bank and a Family Video, but aside from that, every business is family owned, even the movie theater, which not only somehow gets almost every new movie, but also shows films that people in the community make. Of course, my sister mentioned that people sneak alcohol into the theatre sometimes, as it being a family-owned business comes with its prices. So we decided that going to a movie theatre with the possibility of a bunch of drunk teens following us in was not the best way to go through our day before school. Instead we just went to one of the three restaurants in the town, which was a nice place called “The Grilled Tomato” not the fanciest name in the book, but definitely a nice place to go. It was a vegan restaurant, but unfortunately, there were no grilled tomatoes, so that was disappointing. But they did have a bunch of nice dishes, like an lunch wrap which was freaking delicious by the way. So, that was pretty nice, after our little “adventure” it was around like 7:00, I mean, yeah there wasn’t that much, but what was there took most of our time. So Monika had the idea to just sit down and watch this series on Netflix. It was called Fallen Kingdom, it was about a scientist who is able to miraculously create dinosaurs and puts them secretly on an island, trying to keep them a secret from civilization, fearing they will destroy his creation. He soon begins to go crazy, fearing people are watching him, and putting almost all of his time into his work. We watched the first three episodes, and wow, it definitely was something neat. I mean, the Jurassic Park science is pretty fake, but it’s still a neat show nonetheless. During the third episode, during a boring part where the main character, who’s name is Derrick by the way, is sciencing the heck out of everything, and being a little bit preachy, I decide to strike up a small conversation with Monika.
“So, how’s you’re story going,” I ask her.
“Which one,” she asks back, I can tell she knows what I’m talking about, but is just trying to keep it ambiguous, which is definitely a bit weird.
“Together Again,” I say, in the tone you use when reminding someone of something, “the one with the family who is reunited.”
“Oh, well, uhm, I’m not gonna be able to finish it this week, but I think it will be done by next week,” Monika says, from her tone alone I can tell that something is wrong.
“Is there anything wrong,” I ask her, I’m definitely worried, as I haven’t seen this kind of weird panicked yet calm look on her face, granted I’ve only been with her for a week, but it’s something that kind of disturbs me.
“Oh, uhm, uh, nothing, nothing is wrong at all,” Monika says in a haste, she appears to be acting, with a really wide smile on her face, eyes widen, and small beads of sweat dripping down every few seconds. It’s pretty obvious nothing was alright.
“No, nothing is alright, it’s written all over your face,” I say to her, the concern obvious in my voice, “I promise I won’t tell anyone.”
“I mean, it’s not a huge secret or anything,” Monika says, “most people know it, I just, don’t know if I should tell you, it might change your opinions on me.” I can tell she feels calmer now.
“It’s ok, you can tell me, it’s fine,” I say, “Unless you’re a child rapist of course.” Just to lighten the mood a little bit.
Monika giggles lightly before taking a deep breath.
“Ok, uhm, well, to put this simply,” Monika says, “I have a girlfriend.” Monika lets out a sigh of relief, must have been good to get that off his chest.
“Doesn’t everyone,” I say jokingly. We both laugh a bit at my statement. After we are done laughing, I say, “But seriously, people don’t judge you for this.”
“What, do you not like that,” Monika says, with a little bit of disappointment.
“No, no it’s fine,” I say, “I just want to make sure no one is being a crap head to you about it.”
“Oh plenty of people give me crap about it, you just sounded kind of weird,” Monika said. I realized that my phrase sounded disappointed when she said that she was gay.
“Oh, well, sorry,” I say to her, feeling guilty about what I said, “I mean like, I’m completely fine with it, just wondering if people don’t like the fact that you’re gay.”
“Yeah, there are a few crazy people who preach to me and Yuri about how we should burn in hell, but that’s pretty darn vocal minority,” Monika says.
“Yuri is her name, eh,” I say, in the tone you tease someone for announcing who their girl/boyfriend’s name.
“Heh, stop it,” Monika is blushing bright red now, “I mean, yeah, but, uhm.” Monika clearly doesn’t know what to say next.
We just spend the rest of the night making silly compliments, and talking about Monika’s girlfriend Yuri.
I can tell I’m gonna like this life.

“Rise and Shine Sleepyhead,” a voice said, “it’s the first day at your new school.” The voice sounded commanding, yet sweet. I groan, I understand that it’s my first school day, but does my first day at school have to be when I’m extremely comfortable. Hell, this always seems to happen on school days, where you don’t want to get up, not because you don’t want to go to school, but because you are so comfortable in your bed, you don’t want to get up. I groan again, and get up. The whole getting up for school process is something so simple, I shouldn’t even have to explain it at this point. Eat breakfast, check, get dressed, check, brush my teeth, check. All simple, and something that is almost impossible to get out of your head, mainly because it’s something you do everyday of what type of day it is, but still.
Once I’m done with everything, I grab my backpack, which is filled with about 10 notebooks, 10 folders, 5 binders, and like 15 packs of mechanical pencils. This may sound like a bit too much, but I don’t want to run out of stuff in the middle of the year and have to go get more of it. My backpack is a color I chose, a dark purple, with small stripes of white streaking across it, it reminded me of a storm, in fact I think that’s what it’s supposed to represent. But what do I know, in today’s age a number represents someone’s, “luck.”
It seems like Monika is already ready, as she is sitting down on the couch, next to her backpack, covered in deep black and light blue stripes. Wearing her same skirt and shirt from the day they first met, it seemed as if she had a lot of versions of this clothing, either that or she wears the same thing almost every day. Which would be a bit weird.
“Are you ready yet,” Monika asks with a smile, “I’ve been waiting here forever.”
“Yeah, I’m ready now,” I say. The excitement is kind of welling up inside me, I’m gonna be able to meet Yuri, my sister’s girlfriend, and I’m going to make a ton of new friends. Or I could not, I mean, that worked well enough at my old school.
“Come on then,” Monika says excitedly, she gets up and slings her backpack onto her back, “let’s head on to school.”
We head out the front door, and take out first few steps out on the gravel sidewalk. I am slightly confused, we aren’t going to any sort of car, so I ask.
“Aren’t we driving their, or do we not have to walk that far,” I ask.
“Oh, don’t worry,” Monika says, “the school is right there,” she points, I turn to look at what she is pointing at, a giant building, covered in red bricks and white pillars, how did I not even notice this.
“But, where are all the students,” I ask, I don’t believe this is actually the school, at least for now.
“We are just early, school starts at 8:00,” Monika says in a monotone voice, “currently it’s 7:32.”
Well, I didn’t think it would take that little to convince me, but, I guess she’s right, so I follow her to the building. Once we get there, I begin to see small groups of students gathering and talking. Suddenly, Monika yells out, “Yuri, Matt, over here!” Two kids, who were talking to each other look over to us, the female student, who I assume is Yuri, runs over to us, while the other student, who I assume is Matt walks over. Monika and Yuri embrace, as Matt walks over, he begins to talk.
“Monika, I assume this is your sister you mentioned a couple of weeks ago,” Matt says he sounds a little strange, as if he was slightly unhappy with the fact I’m her sister.
“Yep, this is Kara, my slightly older sister,” Monika says, in the tone you introduce something to someone.
“That’s great,” Yuri says, “I’m really happy you found out!”
“Same here,” Monika says in a sweet voice, “Hey, do you guys want to come over to my place tonight, maybe celebrate our first day back at school.” Both Yuri and Matt say yes.
“But, just uh,” Matt says in a slightly concerned yet jokey matter, “maybe try to keep it, a little quieter this time?” Yuri and Monika both giggle, and now I know why Monika dresses like that, it’s to match Yuri’s outfit, they are both wearing the same thing.
“Okay,” Monika and Yuri say at the same time.
In just a couple of minutes, students begin to pile into the front of the school, and before I know it, it’s 8:00, and the bell has run.
With butterflies and moths, and like any bug with wings flying around in my stomach, I slowly tell myself.
This is the start of something new, a new school a new life, a new start.

We walk down the halls of the school, which look very normal, the floor is white tiles with slight green and orange imperfections of them, the walls are just as barron, with the imperfections being scratches on the wall, little cuts and bruises. The ceiling is surprisingly colorful, compared to it’s barren white brothers, or sisters I guess, it’s the school’s main colors. You know how High schools usually combine two colors, yeah, the ceiling is a dark green and a dark orange, not the best color choice, but it’s better than vomit green.
The place seems like just a maze of halls, I have no clue what I’m doing or where I am going, all I know is that Monika, Yuri, Matt, and I are all in the same homeroom. So I’m basically just following wherever they go. As we walk by there is also the normal groups of students, grouping up like flocks of birds. But some of these groups are a lot bigger than I expected, I even saw a group of 20 people, all of which were friends. Despite the barren, nonexistent scenery, the halls felt alive with the speeches of nearby students, all saying hello and asking what they did over the summer. Of course, for me, I don’t have any questions to ask, we aside from where the heck am I going, but I don’t bother to ask that.
Finally, after taking about 3 turns, walking across several groups of students, and passing a surprising amount of vending machines, which I was not used to. Our group finally makes a turn into a room. The room is labeled as Room 123, we walk in, and the room is surprisingly barren of students, or a teacher for that matter. We just kind of waltz on in. The room is pretty similar to the outdoors, the same colored ceilings, and the same paper-white walls and floors, with a few imperfections to spice things up. Yeah, right. There are also a ton of math posters on the wall, they aren’t those weird childish posters that people will put up on the wall, like 100 square feet, or something like that. They all relate to math subjects, like multiplication tables, algebra, and Geometry. I could tell that this was the math room.
“Is Mr. Richardson even here today,” Matthew says out of literally nowhere. I guess Mr. Richardson is our homeroom teacher, and obviously the math teacher as well.
“There’s no way a teacher would miss the first day back at school,” Yuri replies, “I mean, unless they are dead.”
“Yeah, unless someone hired a hitman against him, the old man is likely still alive,” Matt says in a sarcastic tone. I take a look at the desk in the room, it’s a normal looking desk, the wood used is a regular shade of brown with the usual darker hole-like imperfections covering it. There is also a computer, a mac, like the ones you would use in elementary schools. It has the same silver back and the iconic apple icon sitting in the middle. The chair was your usual swivel chair, it had a dark blue wooly coating, with small bits of fuzz sticking out.
“Well, how about we sit down, and wait for them, I mean, technically homeroom actually starts in 5 minutes,” Monika suggests.
Matt nods in agreement, and Yuri makes a sound that is basically the noise version of a shrug. I silently agree with Monika, and sit down. We decide that we should sit down in a way where we can all easily talk to each other. The position has Monika, Yuri, and I in the front seat, and Matt right behind us, so we can turn around and talk. We begin a small chat.
“So, uh, where do you think everyone else is,” Yuri asks, I can tell she is slightly nervous about this, which makes sense, it’s the first day at school, but it could be about something else entirely.
“Probably like, making out in the bathroom,” Matt suggests, “I wouldn’t exactly put it past them, after all they claim they do it every day.”
“I mean, you wouldn’t be wrong, but what would keep them this long.”
Matt coughs twice, and I think we all know what he’s suggesting, really bad diarrhea.
5 minutes later, a person walks in, he appears older, definitely mid-40’s, he is wearing a bright red shirt, and blue jeans, that a wrinkled with age. He is wearing some deep black tennis shoes with white laces. He is obviously Mr. Richardson.
“Well, I guess no one else is here besides you four,” Mr. Richardson says in a disappointed voice, “I told them having all of the bad kids in the same class wouldn’t be a good idea, but I guess they didn’t listen.” I guess the rest of our class were trouble makers, so yeah.
“So, welcome to my class,” Mr. Richardson says to us, “considering the rest of our class doesn’t feel like being in school today, I guess I’ll start off.”
We all look at him, expecting some sort of first day of school speech.
“Honestly, school is not my favorite thing in the world, and I’m sure that it’s not yours either,” Mr. Richardson says, “But, it is necessary, so I will try to make sure that you can get through this year without wanting to die.” Honestly, I am surprised at least, I don’t know if everyone else is. I don’t usually expect teachers to say things like that.
“So, I will be teaching you,” Mr. Richardson says but I will try to make sure that I don’t teach you in a monotone voice like right now.” Honestly I think I’m gonna like this teacher.
“So, let’s make sure that this year is as not boring as we can make it,” Mr. Richardson.
In my head, I cheer, “yeah”, and I think everyone else does too.

After 15 million years, chapter 7 is here

7
The school day goes by pretty fast, after our very unique homeroom. The rest of the classes are just the same speech with slightly different wording, I’m sure we are all used to that now. But anyway, after the first day of school, people are acting like it’s the last day of school, so many people are excited to get out, pushing their way through people, grabbing their things, and booking it for the front door. I find it quite confusing, it’s the first day back at school, what’s so exciting that almost everyone is booking it out. Our small group saunters to our lockers, when we get their, there is this couple, who are making out in front of our lockers, blocking them so we can’t get to them. Great, that’s just wonderful, I mean really, who just thinks, “Oh hey, I have an idea, let’s make out in front of some random kid’s lockers.” Regardless, Matt steps forward, I guess he wants to take care of it himself.
“Hey, uh, it’s great that you are a couple now and all,” Matt says, “but do you think you could make out somewhere else.”
Both of the kids stop, and turn to Matt, the male kid walks up to him, with an expression that shows calm, but is actually massive, uncontrollable anger. The boy has brown hair, that’s cut pretty short, he’s wearing a black T-shirt, with the phrase “I’m your man” plastered in red. He is wearing jeans, and has unties shoelaces on his deep red shoes.
“What do you want fatso,” the boy says, he seems like a jock, full of muscle, and has a very deep voice, obviously goes to the gym a lot. I can see it all over his face.
“Wow, very creative insult,” Matt says sarcastically, “I mean, making fun of someone’s weight is very creative and totally hasn’t been done like a hundred times over.”
“Cut the chit-chat” the Jock says quickly, “What do you want.” Matt stares at him like he is an idiot for about 4 seconds before responding.
“I mean, we need to get to our lockers, and you two don’t seem to be using yours, you could always have smoochy-smooch time in front of your own lockers,” Matt suggests, in a tone you would use when suggesting something. The Jock begins to look increasingly angry, before looking down.
“Fine,” The Jock says, “But this is the only time this will happen.”
“Nope,” Matt says, The Jock glares and growls before walking away with his girlfriend. We all look towards Matt as he beams with pride from the, not-so brave act he just pulled off.
We take our first few steps down the gravel sidewalk, the sounds of our shoes making short little claps on the ground.
“So uh, what are you guys watching tonight,” Matt asks Monika and Yuri.
“Well, we were planning on continuing to watch Fallen Kingdom,” Monika says, “Kara has seen up to episode 3, so she’s already caught up.”
“Oh, really,” Matt says with a grin, “well, just keep it down this time, I want to actually focus on finishing my story tonight.” So it seems as if Matt is working on a story of some kind, that’s pretty neat. We continue to walk down the sidewalk until we reach our house. We head inside, and immediately, Yuri races over to the couch and takes a seat, Monika and I follow in suit soon, while goes into the kitchen, presumably to work on his story.
“Hey, do you still have that popcorn,” Matt asks us as Monika flips screen after screen to find the show.
“No,” Monika says back, “Kara and I ate it all.”
Matt lets out a quick “damn” before continuing to look. Monika finally finds the show, as Matt continues to squirm through Monika’s pantry to find something. Monika goes to episode 4. It doesn’t have a title, but the description states that someone has found the main character’s dinosaur island and has to dispose of them. Sounds strangely violent, especially compared to the other 3 episodes of the show, but whatever.
Over the course of the night, we watch this episode, which isn’t as dark as the episode’s description makes it sound, besides the part where the guy who witnessed the island is killed by a Dilophosaurus, which I enjoyed because that guy was a dick. Seriously, he would kick some of the smaller dinosaurs and flip off so many of them. I understand they probably don’t know that sort of aggression, but I digress. Matt continues typing, during every quiet part, you can hear him furiously typing away at something, I see that while he wants us to keep the volume down, he seems to be able to think clearly with some background noise. I know that can help a lot of people.
“So, how long have you guys been together,” I ask Monika and Yuri, Yuri blushes and buries her face in her hands, while Monika just shakes her head and laughs.
“3 years,” Monika says still having that tiny bit of laugh in her voice, “we’re pretty proud of it.”
“Three years,” I am completely surprised. I knew there relationship didn’t start yesterday, but I didn’t know it had been going on for that long, “Honestly, like seriously, that’s a very long time, I’m surprised one of you hasn’t proposed to the other yet.” Yuri still has her face in her hands, what little of it showing, still bright red, but she still laughs anyway.
“I mean, if anybody would be proposing her, it’s be Monika,” Yuri says, taking her face out of her hands, “I’m not brave enough to do anything like that.” We all laugh, I even hear Matt snicker in the background, honestly I kind of forgot about him.
“Hey Matt,” Monika suddenly yells out, “You don’t typin’ off over there.”
“Nah,” Matt yells back, with that slight iffiness about his voice, that you can tell he just got done laughing, “how bout you, you finished watching your next episode.”
“Nah, just wondering, you’re typing is just really loud during the quiet parts,” Monika yells back.
“That’s because background noise becomes louder during the quiet parts,” Matt says as he snickers again. I’m honestly enjoying this time with my sister and her friends, and I know it will only get better. Well, unless a group of serial rapists attempt to break into our house. But that is pretty damn unlikely, at least I hope it is.
“We should do this, everyday,” I suggest to Monika.
“Yes,” Monika replies, “Yes we should.”
“We already do this everyday,” Matt says, and everyone laughs.

It was the next day at school, where the school was holding meeting, and they were going to talk about things during the school year, so we just kind of went to the auditorium. It was very huge, with the schools colors draped almost everywhere, and the places it wasn’t, it was a teal wall. We had all sat down in the bright orange chairs, that made everything seem a lot brighter than it actually was. After the 15 minutes of basically every student chatting, with me overhearing such amazing things like, “HAHAHAHA,” In the most boring monotone voice, and one so inappropriate, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to finish talking about this place. Anyway, it was a while before our principle took the microphone. He was pretty normal looking, had blonde-ish hair, was wearing a suit, it was a bright sky blue, and he was wearing jeans, does every male in this town wear jeans, I haven’t seen one that doesn’t wear jeans. He doesn’t have any facial wrinkles, and has hazel eyes, that’s all I can really say.
“Alright, my name is Mr. Shepard,” Our principal, who is apparently named Mr. Shepard said, “I know, classy name. But I’d like to take the time today to talk about this school year, and the things you can look forward to this year.”
Groan, I mean, seriously, who wants to listen to this, not even sure if you want to listen to this, do you? Well, I’m just gonna assume that you don’t want to listen to his entire 2 hour speech, yeah it was 2 hours, so I’ll just give you some of the cool things that were said, just to make the speech be a little more bearable.
“Let’s talk about clubs,” Richardson says, “Some examples include, the Literature Club, the Tech Ed. Club, the Art Club, and the Math Club.” A few people boo at the mention of math.
“Oh come on, it’s not that bad,” Richardson says, he sighs before continuing. “But, of course we have the return of the most popular club,” he groans, “the Anime Club.”
Matthew stands up real quickly, raising his arms, as if calling for a cheer. And he gets his wish, as a burst of claps and shouts appear, apparently the Anime Club is pretty popular among students. But anyway, skipping ahead a bit. Richardson says something that crossed my mind at the time, but it is kind of weird know that I think about it.
“We also encourage Students to not investigate the building near the edge of town, we don’t know what’s there, but we don’t want anybody getting hurt.” I don’t even know why he said that, that’s basically saying, hey you should go here because it’s spoopy. Great job there Mr. Principle. I hear a few snickers after he says that, and some whispers, probably people planning to head straight there after school. Idiots.
“Why, does he even tell us this stuff, like, honestly, our math teacher had a better teacher than this, and he probably didn’t have too much time to work on it,” Matt whispers to us.
“I’m assuming that he was kind of on the spot anyway,” Monika whispers back. I mean, now that I think about it, they are right, this was probably a speech that was worked on for hours, if only it was a good speech. The whole room was just filled with whispering kids who weren’t paying attention, kids who have fallen asleep, and of course, our math teacher, who looks like he was about to grab the microphone out of the principles hand and yell out something vulgar, or maybe not, maybe he was just angry because the principle stole his prized stuffed bear. Yeah, he has that.
Finally, after like, 25 more minutes of speeching and preaching, and some person yelling, “Bleaching,” ok fine, that was a joke, but the speech was very boring, I just wanted to make it more fun for you guys, or girls. Or if for some reason, an attack helicopter, reading this. Gotta account for everyone you know. Anyway, after a long time, Shepard man finally finishes his speech.
“And now, I would like to hand the microphone over to our new math teacher, Mr. Richardson.” Nobody applauds, except for us of course, because we actually know him, unlike the rest of our class.
“Alright, so first of all,” Mr. Richardson begins, “I’d just like to say, how boring of a speech our principle gave. Sorry, Shepard, but I almost fell asleep with that one, just going on and on and on with all this classic, “get ready to learn,” and “exciting new year” shtick.” Already, I can already tell people are liking this teacher, I hear people mutter out some ooh’s and aah’s. And some people even letting out a short little sound of laughter.
“So, uh, I’d just like to say, welcome to the school, and you can do some cool things with math, blah blah blah,” Mr. Richardson says quickly, “Now, I know that sounds super boring if I go on for 15 minutes about what “fun” math is, but to be honest, only about 10% will probably continue on with your math career. Sure, you will still probably work hard for that A+ grade so you can actually have a successful career, but after that, you probably won’t pursue math much further.” A few people make noises of agreement, and I see a few people in front of me bob their heads in agreement.
“So, to put it bluntly, just try and do some math, and if you are really interested, go ahead and join math club, and if that still doesn’t convince you,” Mr. Richardson says, building up to some kind of, “dramatic reveal.” we also have cupcakes,”
“Hey,” Matt suddenly yells out, “That was out idea.” He yells it in a sort of joke-like way, I can tell he’s not actually made, but how he said it.
“Yeah and it worked for you,” Mr. Richardson says, “so why shouldn’t it work for the math club.”
“Alright, fair enough,” Matt sits back down. I can see Mr. Shepard looks very disappointed, with his hand covering his face, I can tell this is not how he wanted it to go.
“Alright, then, I guess I’ll be passing this on to our next teacher,” Mr. Richardson begins “whom I don’t know the name of.” Ok, I’ll admit, that got a good laugh out of me. A young woman raises her hand after Mr. Richardson’s comment, I can hear Richardson say, “ah” before handing the microphone to the woman, who is our Science teacher.
But after that, arousing speech by Mr. Richardson, nothing really special happens after that, it’s just boring classes talking about their boring clubs. Not exactly the show of a lifetime. After that assembly, which took way too long. Matt stretches before saying.
“Welp, this is gonna be a good school year.” Monika turns to him and says, “Is it ever not?”

Chapter 9 is done

I'm hoping for chapter 10 to be out by the end of this week

It’s been 2 weeks, 2 entire weeks at this school, and so far, it’s been going very well. The teachers, despite their boring speeches, are actually pretty cool, and have very unique classes, it isn’t just notes after notes after notes. Mrs. Carrin, our science teacher, has already had us do 5 experiments, which is crazy, and all of them were really neat, we made slime, we created makeshift rockets, we’ve even made weird fluffy stuff out of liquid. It was neat, to say the least. In Social Studies, we’ve been looking at history, in a unique way, you see, despite the fact that the school is something you would think is just, chalkboards and notebooks, they have a lot of weird stuff you wouldn’t expect, in fact, the school was able to afford some VR headsets, of course, it was a pack of 6, but it was still cool to look at history through a pair of, technology goggles.
There was also ELA, where everyone was already excited, because our teacher announced that our main project that we would be doing throughout the course of the entire year would be to make our own, novel of sorts, and it had to have a minimum of around 25 chapters, and 240 pages. So that’s very neat, I’m planning to write mine based off of a slightly depressing story, it’s based off of the USS Indianapolis, you know, the ship that carried the original atomic bomb to Hiroshima, the one that was sunken, yeah that one. I plan it to switch between two sections, one section is going to be about one of the sailors on the Indianapolis, trying to survive the sinking, while the other section will be about the sailor in his later life, trying to deal with his PTSD as well as the death of one of his children who was killed in a car accident. I know, that sounds depressing, but I’ve always found the depressing stories to be the most relatable, for some reason.
But math is something else, sure it is just kind of math, but Mr. Richardson cleary had comedian as his other job idea, as he combines the learning with comedy, it’s not inappropriate, it’s just that childlike humor, that’s not that mature, but it’s still funny. Sure, he’s not the funniest person in the world, but it’s nice to have him there as our math teacher. Sure, we have a ton of homework to carry around, which can prevent us from hanging out after school that much, but it’s fine because we get to hang out in school anyway.
However despite this, these two weeks haven’t exactly been sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows everywhere. It doesn’t help that the day after our principle gave that “arousing” speech about the spooky abandoned building near the edge of town, some kid went missing. His name was Albert Banerthy, according to his friends he had lost a bet to see who would go in first, and went in the next day after school, he didn’t show up at all. Only 2 days after that, his girlfriend and another friend of his went missing, presumably searching for him. And one girl, Sarah is her name, has been searching for her lost dog. It’s quite depressing, watching her run around day and night, asking, crying, yelling, wondering where her dog could possibly be. I didn’t know she had a dog until she started doing this. However, this did inspire Matt’s story, we honestly tried to get him to write something about the real world for once instead of his fantasy anime lands. I mean, he doesn’t watch it all the time, but he does get hooked onto a lot of series. So when we basically forced him to write it about something a little more, realistic, let’s say, he took that as an opportunity. To write what he calls, “his most depressing story yet.” Which, makes me think he lives in rainbow land everyday of his life, because a missing dog, isn’t always the biggest deal in the world.
I’ve never really thought I’ve enjoyed school, but I think that I can safely say, that I am enjoying school. Even if a couple idiots go missing, is that really my problem, really, I don’t think so. Well, maybe it is my problem, but we’ll see, we’ll see.
It was a saturday, and we were all just laying around outside, the school board decided the school should have a sort of outdoor picnic so students could get to know each other more, as apparently, I wasn’t the only one moving here from somewhere else. Monika, Yuri, Matt, and I had all just sat around, We hadn’t really come here for the food, but we just wanted to have a small, out-of-school chat.
“So, how’s everything going with the club,” I ask Matt.
Matt looks up at me, “Oh, well things are going all right, I’ll be honest with you, when I first opened the club, I didn’t think anybody was gonna join,” Matt replies, “even the principle didn’t think it was gonna go anywhere, but surprisingly, a lot, and I mean a lot of kids joined.”
“Is that how you met Monika and Yuri,” I ask him.
“Nope, we’ve been friends for a while now,” Matt says, “around three years if I’m correct.” That’s around the same time Monika and Yuri said they started dating, that’s a teeny bit weird, but I wouldn’t question it.
“Although, he did meet a lot of new friends,” Monika bumps in with, I guess she just wanted to have a part in the conversation too.
“Yeah, a lot,” Matt says, “Like Natsuki, Eric, Fisher, and, ooh Griffin, I think you’ll like Griffin.” Matt says that last part to me, I feel slightly taken aback by that.
“Uh, what do you mean by that,” I reply.
“I don’t know,” Matt says, Monika and Yuri giggle at that, “he just seems you’re style.” I just roll my eyes.
Suddenly a scream runs through the fields, we all turn, it’s Sarah, she’s screaming at the top of her lungs, most likely. We get up from our comfortable little area and rush over to where she is. She yelling a mixture of terror and crying. Yuri is quick to help her out.
“Are you okay,” Yuri asks her, “what happened.”
“Uhh, guys,” Matt says, “maybe this is what happened.” We go over to where Matt is, Sarah is still bawling in the background. I look down.
Lying there, with and open back, and blood all over, is a dog.
Sarah’s dog.

Chapter 10 I forgot to finish yesterday, but it's done
Hoping to get Chapter 11 done by Saturday.

10
Just to let you know, out school’s backyard was in a square-like area. With the back of the school being the bottom of the square. All the other sides are a forest, with trees covering almost everywhere, but surprisingly, there are no plants in these forests. Only the squirrels could be seen, hopping from tree to tree, occasionally glancing down at us, before dashing off. We were in the trees a bit, if I turned around, I could still see the school.
There were a lot of people around, almost 40, some people were asking what was happening, others were yelling at others to calm down, and some were yelling at students to get away. We were standing there and just kind of staring. I’m in absolute awe and confusion, but also in fear, of what I’m seeing. The dog was a pug, with it’s smushed, adorable face, not making a single movement, it lay there, belly-first, not even making a twitch of movement or pain. It’s back was wide open, creating a world of red, but the strange thing was, there were no organs, there was no spine, and there wasn’t really anything keeping it up. Except for a human arm.
It was just kind of shoved in there, a severed human arm, covered in dots of blood as if they were pimples, holding the poor puppy, so it doesn’t become a rotting flesh sack. Speaking of rotting, the whole place smelled worse than vomit, it was like a person with a cargo truck of dead fish, and was just letting everybody smell them. I was surprised we didn’t smell it earlier, although, maybe it’s not as strong out in the open, I don’t know.
Suddenly there was a tap at my shoulder, I whisk around, it’s Mr. Shepard. He doesn’t look that happy, he has a slight mix between anger, and worry.
“What, are you doing up here, get back to the field.” Mr. Shepard yells.
“Okay,” Matt says suddenly, I kind of forgot he was there for a second, then again, I’m pretty sure anyone would forget most things if they were looking at a dead dog with and arm shoved in it’s back, replacing it’s spine. As I’m walking back, I begin questioning myself, “where did the dog go,” “who killed the dog,” “why’d they kill it,” “why’d they bring it out here,” “where’d they get the arm from.”
That was the question that was on my mind, and probably the biggest question in general. You can’t just accumulate human body parts out of thin air, unless there is some human generator I don’t know about. My guess, is that it has something to do with those missing kids, the ones who went out to that weird building and went missing, did that dog wander out too far?
No, impossible, that building is too far away for that dog to just casually stroll to. Someone must have taken him there. But why, why take a dog to an abandoned building, kill it, and shove body parts down wherever you feel like it. I would say Psychological, but I don’t think there’s a mental illness for stuffing human body parts inside dead things, or maybe there is, I don’t know, google it.
I’m walking back, with these questions in my mind, thinking of new ideas, then throwing them away for others, and others, and others. I notice my friends just kind of walking back, Matt takes a few looks behind him, before turning back around, Monika has her hand covering up her mouth, an action that suggests surprise. And I don’t see Yuri at all, probably still helping Sarah get over her dead dog with a human arm stuck in it. That arm, that one part I can’t get out of my head, it’s important somehow, but I don’t know how, that’s the problem. The smell of the putrid flesh, is growing, strangely weaker. Although I guess that’s what happens when you walk away from a rotting corpse.
I get back, and I see all the students conversing, some confused as to what’s going on, some saying exactly what happened. And some saying it’s a bear attack. Are there even bears here? I don’t know, didn’t have time to check. It’s about a couple minutes before Mr. Shepard comes back, along with a few of the teachers present. Yuri comes out, dragging a tear streaked Sarah behind her, still crying. The teachers split up and begin to start shushing up some of the groups, with some dismissing anything some of the kids are saying. Well I know what I saw, and what I saw, was a dead do-, you know what, you already know what I’m gonna say.I wander over to my friends, who are all bustling with discussion.
“Okay, so, dead dog, arm, missing kids, there is no way they aren’t connected,” Matt says.
“I mean, it is likely, but it’s possible they stashed it away,” Monika suggests.
“St-Stashed it away,” Matt yells out, “Who in their right mind it stashing body parts in their freakin wardrobes.”
“I don’t know,” Monika replies, “Maybe they murdered someone a long time ago, and cut off their limbs and hid them for later usage.”
“What would they use them for,” Matt says, “Shoving them up their-,”
“Okay, that’s enough Matt,” Yuri says literally out of nowhere, she was usually the quiet one out of out of all of us, so this was slightly surprising, “I mean, it is most likely that the two incidents are connected, but it’s not the only possibility, hell, we don’t know if he got that arm from himself.” Matt slaps his face before turning around. Suddenly Mr. Shepard walks over to us.
“Now listen, I don’t know if you’ve heard any of the rumors,” he says to us in a serious voice, “But what happened was a bear attack, there is nothing to worry about, we just ne-”
He didn’t even get to finish his sentence, Matt suddenly turns around.
“Rumors, bear attack,” Matt interrupts, “I’m sorry, but what I saw is not a bear attack, hell, we don’t even have any freakin bears in this town, or within a few miles of this town. And even if we did, I don’t think they’d have the knowledge to take an arm they accumulate out of a freakin trash bag, that doesn’t exists, and shove it into a dogs spine.” I had never heard Matt this angry, I mean, there are times were he would get frustrated, but his face was literally just pure anger, if this was a cartoon, his pupils would’ve probably turned into fireballs. Mr. Shepard gives him a stern look.
“Listen here young man,” Mr. Shepard says, “I don’t know where you heard those rumors from, but they are fake.”
“Oh, I didn’t just hear them, I saw them, I don’t know if we saw the same thing, but what I saw was-”
“Okay, Matt we get it, we saw a dead dog with an arm shoved in it, I know it’s horrifying and traumatizing, and I might never sleep again, but it’s still something we’ve all been repeating to each other, we don’t need to know it again.” I suddenly say. I mean, I don’t know how it came out, I was just annoyed by all that yelling that was happening, I guess I just snapped, everybody turns to me. I can tell I’m in quite a bit of trouble, just by the look Mr. Shepard is giving me.
“Listen here young lady,” Mr. Shepard says as he approaches me, “If you say one more thing about this incident, you will regret it, so much, and so will your little friends, understand?”
“O-okay,” I mean, I can’t just say no, he looked like he would stab me if I said no. He walks away, I look over at my friends, I can tell that Monika looks a bit pissed, Yuri looks confused, and Matt, let’s just say he didn’t look very pleased.
And now, I had another thought in my head, what if Mr. Shepard was the one who did this to the dog, I mean, it’s normal for people to cover up things that would harm their image, but still, people don’t go that far. Do they?

11

We were sitting on the couches, well, at least 3 of us, Matt was pacing around, like on usually does when thinking really hard about something. To be fair to him, we were all thinking hard about something. Guess what it is, yeah I’m sure you know. I’m sitting on one of the couches alone, while Monika and Yuri are sitting on the other couch. We were all thinking about the things that made sense, and the things that didn’t. Who murdered the dog? Why did they murder the dog? Why did they shove an arm down their back? Where did they get the arm from?
I can theorize a bit, the arm is most likely from one of those missing kids, they killed the kids, then murdered the dog, before gutting it, and shoving the arm as a replacement for their spine. But why, would you go through the trouble of gutting a dog, shoving an arm up their spine, and then placing them near a school. I mean, who would actually go that far, maybe for fun, but who would kill a dog for fun? I can’t really think of anybody off the top of my head who would. This is probably just gonna be a mystery that will never be solved, unless, of course, we take matters into our own hands, but if they were able to take
on two teens, then I am afraid of the fact they might be able to take on four.
“I mean, is there anything we can really do about this,” Monika asks, in a very serious tone, the most serious tone I’ve seen her in.
“Probably not,” Yuri asks, “I mean, unless we had a large group of people of course.”
“The Anime Club,” Matt suddenly exclaims out loud.
“No,” Monika and Yuri both say at the same time.
“What do you mean,” Matt replies, “I mean, it is a large group of people.”
“Yeah, but people aren’t replaceable,” Monika replies.
“So, are you suggesting we build some kind of robot army,” Matt says, “The club is our only real option.”
“But will they actually be up to it,” Yuri asks, “You don’t know that they will be.”
“Do you run the Anime Club,” Matt asks her.
“No,” Yuri replies, “But I know how humans work, and most humans aren’t willing to just, run into places where a killer might be hiding.”
“Fair point,” Matt states, “But, do you know anybody from the Anime Club?”
“No,” Yuri admits, she has this strange, depression in her voice, it’s quite noticeable.
“Well I do, and I know that they are some of the bravest people I know,” Matt says.
“You think watching Anime is brave,” Monika asks, in a sarcastic tone.
“You know we do more than just watch anime, right,” Matt replies. Honestly, at this point, their argument just becomes noise to me. And I begin to think about both arguments equally, Matt is right that we would have more people to get through, and I trust that there are a lot of people in the Anime club, and I trust they are brave, but I also see Yuri and Monika’s point of view, you can’t waste a human life and expect to get it back. However, there are more ups than downs. But still, is a human life really worth wasting to investigate some dead dog. Maybe, maybe not.
“What do you think we should do Kara,” Monika suddenly asks me. I turn, everybody is staring at me, and I feel myself go red for a second, I see what both sides are saying, but I think I’ve taken one side.
“I say,” I begin, “We should do the Anime Club.”
