So... my manager made me clean with bleach around food, a salad bar to be precise.

now for those who dont work in the food industry, you shouldnt clean a salad bar when theres food out. Especially with bleach because theres a chance it might get into the food.

well someone brought in mr clean magic erasers which have bleach in them and my manager made me clean the salad bar when THERE WAS FOOD ON IT !!!

i would protest her, but shes ALWAYS looking for a reason to write people up/fire them.

It's really either employees report her or one of the costumers getting food poisoning and reporting you guys (and potentially suing after contamination comfirmation).

Personally you should've been looking for a new job because that crazy ***** you have to put up will literally break you if you don't break her off. I know it's a big suck, but damn man you'd be losing a job if a health inspector sees all the **** that goes down there.

Easier said than done really.

O_O

omg, this is common sense though. I love cooking, I am a very knowlegeable chef, and a knowledgable cook knows about being sanitary.

you. need. none of this. to know not to have bleach anywhere need food.

Please, report her. Just think about the people, adults, the children that could get sick from this kind of thing. There are people (from personal experience from people that are close to me) that are very, very allergic to bleach. Ingesting it could literally kill someone.

I definitely feel you, you don't want to be fired. But it is better than allowing yourself to be responsible for something like that happening.

Think good thoughts, she'll be fired instead, you'll keep your job, and get a boss that you can get along with.

Sending the positive energy your way.

If you can I'd recommend looking for a new job. If you don't feel safe there already and you'd be reprimanded for calling her out on dangerous **** then it really isn't good for you to remain working there

@C1nder
rumor is that she's on her way out because customers have gone all the way up to corporate about her. i know a few employees that have too. if shes not gone by valentines day i think im gonna go job hunting. i dont like to wish bad things on people, but my god, she needs to go!!

I'm not going to allow myself to be blamed. I wouldn't be surprised if she did though, wouldn't be the first time she threw me underneath the bus.

If you were the one to spray the counters (and thereby the food), even if at her request, in the court of law, you would be held responsible for the food poisoning. She would be too, but you will still get into serious trouble.

Here's to her getting fired, I guess?

To be fair she's right, not to be intentionally rude but this will be blunt, you should have made the choice of possibly getting fired over potentially hurting people or worse. I mean imagine if you found out that someone could have got bleach in your children's food. All you can do is hope nobody got ill and report your manager and never do anything dangerous that she orders you to do again.

She wasn't being condescending; she was being blunt, and had a touch of humor to lighten the scenario. Lots of people do that. You didn't need to take it personally.

Yeah, I understand the stress and pressure regarding that kind of situation; losing a job is terrible, especially if you were fired instead of quitting or getting laid off. I hope your situation will improve quickly.

Whoops again, I am so sorry.

I didn't mean to come off as condescending or anything. I was simply trying to make sure you were aware of the possible trouble ahead. I was actually worried about you, lol.

The wine glasses and "here's to her getting fired" was about your manager. I could be reading this wrong, but did you think I was talking about you?
