I haven't seen this posted yet so...here it is. So, as well as the Legendary movies, Godzilla is getting an anime trilogy in October. This marks the first time Godzilla will have a non-live action movie.

The Godzilla in this movie is the most interesting part, as he has probably the most unique origin to date. This time, he's a tree-based organism as opposed to an actual animal. That's right, he's a plant.

You can see how plant-based he is.

I have mixed feelings on this new Godzilla. He's not my favorite (Shin will always be the best), but he looks pretty good. Not a huge fan of the plant-based part but still excited to see how he works out.

Not that big of a Godzilla fan, but that actually doesn't look half bad

I don't like this too much either honestly, but I'll wait and see.

So, from Dragon/Fire to Dragon/Grass? Cool idea, but I want more canon between the Japan films. I guess Legendary's Godzilla films will be the new main Godzilla canon, while the Japan ones will be solo experimental ones. Thinking about it now, I like it that way. Just give me Angurius in the Monsterverse and I'll be happy.


Also, does it have to be a crappy CG anime? Why can't it be 2D?


Anyway, the design is clearly Legendary Influenced and I like it. You can tell it's tree-ish.


EDIT: Accoriding to the Godzilla wiki, this animated movie is part of a planned Trilogy. Interesting.

Shin is always going to be the best Godzilla. He's like the Alpha Chad of the Godzillas.

Why:
*He basically conquered all of Japan in a few minutes.
*He can evolve to fit any situation.
*He fires ultimate lasers of destruction from anywhere on his body which cut through anything.
*He looks like Satan had a baby with a Xenomorph and then that baby had another baby with Godzilla 1954.
*Even Hell would probably be like a walk in the park for him. He probably destroyed Hell before coming to Japan.
*He is literally indestructible. Sure, he got stopped at the end, but it was only temporary.
*His tail has another head on it.
*He has googly eyes.

Best Godzilla ever.

They wanted to make a sequel to Shin Godzilla but Legendary and Toho have an agreement that after 2016 Toho can't make a live action Godzilla movie until after 2020, which is very unfortunate...

I do remember hearing the director wasn't interested in coming back, or something on those lines.

Also, I gotta get Shin Godzilla, I know it's Western DVD release has an English dub.

Maybe it's better as a standalone. It was so weird and different for Godzilla that I think maybe having it as its own movie would make it more memorable.

But I would love to see more of Shin, especially him maybe fighting another monster.

It's a cool concept, sure, but it's not really Godzilla at that point.

Plus, I feel like the scene is better being a cliffhanger kind of thing just for the sake of being unnerving, freaky, and giving a body-horror kind of vibe.

I thought they said that the freezing was only temporary.

I don't exactly recall, I just remember them saying that it'd die after a few days if it remained frozen. In the event that it managed to thaw out, however, nukes would be used to (Hopefully) kill it for good.

Oh. It's been a while since I've seen it, and the ending always confused me as to whether he was really being held back or not.

I eagerly await any news about a sequel to Shin Godzilla.

I never liked the way Godzilla changed from a monster to a tall scaly human that could breath plasma and rawr.

Interesting idea. Though idk how to entirely feel about the whole plant part.
