Capital Q Intended.

As a foreword, this is probably aimed at the older users of this website, and not those who have been around for just a few months.

How many people here are still fans of Spyro? Quite a bold question to ask on a Spyro game fansite. Let me explain why I'm asking this. (Well, sorta' explain.)

Back in 2012, when my computer stopped working, I borrowed my mum's to browse the internet. That's when I discovered the Pony.MOV series and also decided to look at Harry Potter and MLP Crossover stories on Fanfiction.Net.

When I got my computer back, I investigated the official seasons of the show, sealing my fate to this day. The day I started watching MLP:FiM didn't go unnoticed on the long since late DarkSpyro Skype group.

Needless to say, Spyro simply wasn't an interest to me. I was no longer a Spyro fan.

I still post occasionally on this website, despite the fact that I make no big moving posts, have no friends, or barely stick around for a day before disappearing for another three to seven months. I keep coming back, and I'm not really sure why.

{[]--------------------------------------------------------------------------[]}

Who here is still a Spyro fan?

If not, why stick around a Spyro fansite? Do you still identify this website as a Spyro forum, or do you remain "for the community"?

Thanks!

Still a Spyro fan, though I'm way more critical of the games after finding out the series isn't as special as it seemed when I was younger. Love the a e s t h e t i c, the theme and the game use some really cool themes, but I discovered other games and ideas, and much luckier franchises at that.

I definately stay for the community though. The Spyro fandom elsewhere on the internet disgusts me at points(here too but it's a user or another) so I'd rather have dank memes with fans, non-fans and Skylanders fans alike.

Still a fan and still play the games occasionally even though I've played through all of them a good several times (with the exception of Enter the Dragonfly). I'm not a crazy diehard fan who would defend it from any criticism like I was when I was twelve, but I do still love the series.

I have never played a Spyro game and only got into Skylanders because of Stealth Elf & Chop Chop. I joined this site to know when the **** Ninjini was going to release. A number of games later, I've somewhat lost interest in Skylanders.

However, I stay for the community. I love the drama and bull**** you guys come up with. All of the stupid trends and ****ty, cringey memes.

I've always been a huge fan of Spyro the Dragon. It was the first game where I really appreciated the soundtrack, more open levels, the camera and controls in a video game, and the first time when I knew I wanted to be a video game reviewer (confession: I did and still do talk to myself when playing video games; I didn't realise that people made a profession out of that, even though my dad bought PS1 magazine every month!). I don't play the games all the time, but I find myself playing them more than ever when I come home from work - they're so easy to pick up, beat and replay. The first game is particularly easy to do this with - not much in the way of cutscenes, the boss battles are just big enemies essentially and I know where everything is. That is just perfect to me.

One of my favourite memories is when my computer also stopped working and I had to send it back for repairs. It was almost 30 days of playing and replaying Spyro the Dragon. By the 20th day I was starting to get the slightest bit bored - that was about 6 times I'd played the game to completion. When I got my PC back, I almost didn't want to stop playing Spyro. Key word being 'almost'.

I am and always will be a fan of Spyro. The games are so good I literally want to be buried with them, and if my parents are at all serious about what I want at my funeral they'll have the hockey song of Colossus on the organ, especially that killer chorus.

As for this forum, I'm here for the community and the games in equal parts. Game forums don't hold my attention though it's more the game than the threads and posters that put me off. My interest in Skylanders will die off fairly soon, of that I have no doubts, but the friends I've made and the people I've spoke with here have far more sway over my stay here than toys. And who knows, maybe I'll spin a yarn about the games that brought me here in the first place. smilie

Am I a Spyro fan? Am I here for the community or what? Questions I’ve never answered until now. Or will I? Let’s see.

I guess I am a fan to certain point. I own every Spyro game released on Playstation and Playstaion 2 consoles and play them on annual basis. Of course technically they are not the best games out there, I get that. But it does not bother me since I am not that big of a video game enthusiast/player; I am more of a computer solitaire and mahjong guy. I got introduced to the franchise since the beginning of it and I kind of grew up with them for a short while so they have that nostalgia value for me and they are overall harmless and fun to play. But never have I been such intense fan that I’ve bought side products relating to the franchise, since they have nothing to do with the playing experience therefore they are quite inefficient for my values at hand, or tried to find out backstage trivia about it. So I am just a casual fan who just likes to play the game.

And about this site? I guess it is kind of force of habit. I stay here and check up on things on regular basis, observe and sometimes post something irrelevant so I can get the gems here and there (in it for imaginary and useless money unit, oh yeah). It does nothing bad to me and sometimes it makes good to me so it is kind of harmless factor and getting rid of it would be a move of indifference. And I try to be not harmful to this site too; takes-two-to-tango kind of thing, you know?

I guess that is my answer. Yeah, all the questions are answered and I managed to kill some boring time at the same time. Carry on…

I might give you more opinions... for a small fee of course.

I was into LoS at the time, and I stalked this forum for a while before finally joining. By the time I got here, Legend was losing popularity, and I never cared enough to get into Skylanders (mostly because I didn't want to buy a new console), so really I've only stuck around for the community. Mostly the role playing community.

Since there's nothing really to talk about concerning Spyro I guess I just come here to mess around with the community sometimes.

I'm probably correct in saying that "Community" is the consensus on why older users on this website stick around. Regardless of their opinions of Spyro.

I'm not going to lie, but I expected community to be the most used answer. Because with my (limited) experience with online forums, this one is very active, and contains people will to post absolute nonsense, to those willing to engage in serious discussions on whichever topic appears relevant at that time.

I'm in a state of "Idunno" regarding this forum. I post, I fade away, I post again, and fade away once more. The cycle repeats itself, slowly. No, I'm not putting blame on this forum for not "Ooh! a random old user, give them attention!" because that would be petty. It is simply me just not feeling attached enough to post every month.

I'm not going to pose another question, as the original post has asked for a deep enough question anyway, and I would like thank everyone for taking their time to answer said question, as they have been very informative.

Heh, I remember my early days on this website, typing with poor grammar and caring about how many gems I had. To be fair, I was 13 years old.

Joined (and originally, lurked) for Skylanders, but after Swap Force, my interest quickly went down and I became more focused on other stuff instead.

I still stayed here, however. I didn't like it here much (and still don't), but I still came back when I was bored, which was quite often. I definitely don't come here as much now, but as I said, I still come back occasionally when I'm bored.

However, I did regain interest in Skylanders after Imaginators. If they announce another game, I'll likely become interested Skylanders again.

Skylanders is my thing, my contact with pre-Skylanders Spyro is pretty low (basically two games), so I came here to talk about Skylanders with someone who is not a kid (harder to find than it seems). But now the community is also a reason, mainly because of the drown in Skylanders-related releases.

I'm a huge fan of the first four games, the big three originals in particular, because of the music, atmosphere, artstyle ,characters, the open levels and fun and engaging 3D Platformers. There's just so much charm in the games.
However, I'm also staying here for the community. This is a multipurpose website where we can discuss Spyro in General, video games, and random things in Stuff and Nonsense.
And who knows, maybe after the Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy, and the F4F figures Spyro statue, Spyro may have a future comeback for me to look forward to! If not at least then there will be Spring Savanna and Murda's Mayhem

i'd say i'm still a spyro fan cause i like playing the classics but i did grow up with the TLoS trilogy. i still prefer TLoS just because it's what i knew and so many cringey ocs and storylines came from it and it has a lot of nostalgic value for me. i've been wanting to play some spyro for a while now but i need to get a controller. i don't really stick around this site anymore and definitely not for spyro but i come on here every now and then for the drama and...interesting people.

I still like both Spyro and Skylanders, though they're not really a high priority to me right now. I'm kind of busy with other franchises, though I would have some interest in the possibility of Spyro remakes if they do happen someday.

I will admit I am not a fan of the community right now. There was once a time I accepted dS as a community I could express myself with, but that has completely fallen apart.

But I will say, even though I currently have no trust in this community, it's certainly not the worst out there. There are far, far worse places out there.

Haven't played the old Spyro games. I caught on to the franchise during Giants. I am a fan of Spyro in the sense that I respect him as the original Skylander. The hunt brought me here. I searched online for release dates for the next wave. I keep coming back to the forum because I'm obsessed with Skylanders and I enjoy discussing my obsession with the cool people here.

I first joined this site back before A New Beginning came out. I joined for classic Spyro and stayed for the community, since I have watched this site go from largely classic Spyro fans, to Legend fans, to Skylanders fans. I don't like Legend of Spyro much, and I am not interested in Skylanders. However I still enjoy the classic Spyro games and come back to them sometimes.

I would probably like the original games, if I had the means to play them. Shadow Legacy wasn't too bad, unless you broke a button essential for beating the game like I did. Or get yourself trapped in that one area where you need Mana to get Mana and you also need Mana to leave. I don't know if it's actually impossible to leave but I'm not finding out.

I was curious about the original when I saw a video of it on one of those demo discs, that included a playable sample of Tekken 3, that came with the console.

It wasn't until near Christmas when I saw a short ad for Spyro 3, which got me hyped. Obviously my parents were able to get a pirated copy of the game. I wanted the very first game so I could play them in order but I got Spyro 3 and it was fun... except for the obvious glitches. I played the trilogy in reverse order, so Spyro 2 actually felt more exciting than Spyro 3 and Spyro 1 was a bit weird for me.

The PS2 and GBA installment were obviously not as good to the point, especially when later games got rid of portals and those iconic gem sounds but when I heard the 2006 PS2 Spyro game (Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning) was a reboot, not a prequel, I just gave up on the series for a while though I still played the PS1 fondly.

I think I was still playing the original PS1 discs before Skylanders was announced but when the trilogy finally came to the PlayStation Store in 2012, I was so happy to play them on my PSP and VITA.

To be honest, Spyro 2 and 3 set my standards for platformers and video games with fantasy elements.

I'm pretty sure any place that looks trapped is, unless you just need to grind for a bigger gem wallet. This includes the good old Teleport not being able to reach certain areas and trapping you in Forgotten Worlds if you don't find the perfect spot.
