A somewhat revised version of Fusion, without the need for a complicated fusion list.

STORY

Long ago, the ancients created powerful runes. These ancient runes allowed for a being to gain the powers of the elements. However, a dark force sought out these runes, wanting their power for himself. The ancients used their power to seal this dark force in the Underworld, and hid the runes.

Years later, Kaos has escaped the academy, and begun his new plan to take over skylands. After finding and opening an ancient tomb, he gained a new ally- Malefor, the dragon king of the underworld. Now with Malefor on the rise, Master Eon has gifted you the runes of legend, to power up your own skylanders!


RUNES

The runes are like thick, plastic trading cards. You can insert the runes through the portal, to power up ANY skylander. That's right. ANYONE can use these. They're elementally aligned, but anyone can us them. A fire character can use a water rune, and so on.

Runes are included in the Starter Pack and Adventure Packs, and can be bought in booster packs of 10 for $9.99.

FIGURES

Rune Rangers will also introduce 40 new cores, 16 new reposes, and 10 new lightcores.

STORY MODE

In the story mode, the storytellers from Imaginators will return, joined by some new faces. Wind-Up, Roller Brawl, Cynder, Hex, Snap Shot, Ka-Boom, and Gill Grunt are now also storytellers.

BATTLE MODE

A new battle mode will allow you to face other portal masters around the world. Whether it be 1v1, 2v2, or an 8 player free-for-all, portal masters can now go online to face other players!

101, 10 for each element and a special Kaos rune in the dark starter. They come in two "waves", with wave 1 being released with the game and wave 2 being released the following year

What do the runes actually do? "Power up" is a rather open-ended term, and I'd love to see your ideas. What I'd expect from such cards is to offer buffs such as "every 20 seconds, a blast of air will knock back foes. Empowering an Air Skylander with this card gives them +20 damage to knocked back enemies", etc.

An interesting idea. Not sure how Malefor plays into it, or why he has to be in various ideas, but I can dig it for one game.
