Marvel made a bold claim when it promised to “change the comic book industry” on Friday June 23rd with a major Marvel Legacy announcement. Turned out to be just a series of retro homage covers revealed throughout the day. I’ll leave it to you the readers to decide for yourselves whether that promise to change the comics industry was fulfilled. Needless to say, there is still a bit of confusion as to whether these homage covers are in fact the actual main covers for their respective titles or simply another wave of themed variants that Marvel has done with increased frequency in recent years.
looks like marvel is trying to get dc rebirths success by going all historic with their current books. just too bad that it isnt as exciting as rebirth when it was first announced last year. marvel in this day and age is in this weird stage of being hated by people complaining about "sjw" writers making "sjw" pandering books or politics being added into books rather it fits or not. i dont really want my comics featuring spiderman fighting in a war of racism or iron man's opinions on iraq. i just want stories that are just fun to read. thats why i love books like gwenpool which is made for escaping reality instead of focusing on why the real world sucks. if this event doesnt lead to great stories and loops back to politics in comics than all hope is lost for this company's sales.
