Some of you might remember a topic I made a couple of weeks ago about my dog acting weird. She seemed to be making a recovery the week after that, but after that she started going downhill again. She spent all day laying in one spot, she wouldn't eat, and she was breathing really hard. If she did get up, she'd walk about five feet then lay down again. My mom and I took her to the vet today, had some x-rays taken. My dog had lung cancer. The vet said that there may have been a tumor in her brain (which might've caused the previous symptoms) that might've metastasized in the lungs. They offered potential treatments, but with my dog in her condition, she probably wouldn't have survived through it. We had her put to sleep.

Oh man, I'm so sorry. Losing pets is always the worst.

So sorry man, know that feeling. My previous cat appeared to recover from lung calcification only for the worse kidney disease to rear its ugly head :c Always keep in mind they for sure enjoyed their lives with you, both doggos and kitties.

As harsh as it may sound, you did what was right for her.

At least you know that she isn't suffering which is the last thing you'd want.

I lost my doggie friend in a similar situation two years ago. :c It's going to be hard, as any loss is. The most important thing is remembering the good times you had with her — rather than her last day. All of it will still make you sad now, but over time the happy memories might make you feel better.

I'm so sorry for your loss! There is no mending the hole that is the loss of a pet, and only with time will things get easier. But you provided her with the very best possible life she could've had, and that is worth everything. You gave her a wonderful and loving life to enjoy, and I'm sure she was a very happy doggo to have spent it with you.

I'm so sorry for you loss, at least she's in a better place now.

Thanks for all your kind words everyone. We buried her under a tree in my backyard. She had a great life, and I'm glad we ended it when we did so she wouldn't suffer longer than she had to.

At least the new dog we got the other day will help me through it (us getting her had nothing to do with Bailey). Incidentally, she's an Aussie Shepherd, the same breed as Bailey!

Sorry for that, like I would say the love one will always be in the memory of one, it might be painful, but there´s always a happy time.

Losing a dog is beyond painful and even if you expect it coming like I did, you can never be fully prepared for the emotional punch from it.

This Saturday will be a year since we had to put my dog down. Can't believe it's been a year already and I'll never forget him.
