*Sigh* Last Staturday on the 11th I decided to buy Swap Force for my XBox 360 at a pawn store, and decided to buy two Swap Force figures to go with it: Wash Buckler and Blast Zone (the two really common ones, but that was all they had). Assuming the game would work with the Giants portal I already had I did not think to buy a Swap Force portal.

...But when I got home to play the game, it told me I needed a different portal.

...Okay, no biggie. Fast forward to yesterday I went BACK to the Pawn Store and got myself a Swap Force portal. I also got one of the expansions at the same Pawn Store and they gave me a Grim Creeper's legs for free. I also stopped at Toys R Us to see if they had any, swearing to myself that if they had Trap Shadow, which was the one I wanted the most, I would buy it no questions asked and, what do you know, they had Trap Shadow! In addition, there was a 3 for 1 deal, so I also got Freeze Blade, Riptide, Scorp, a Lightcore Countdown, and since those were the only Swap Force characters they had and I had everyone from Spyro's Adventure and Giants, a Lightcore Drobot. Everything was fun, I was smiling, and then I got home... and the portal didn't work.

...

BOLOGNA, FUDGE AND MUSTARD!!! I looked EVERYWHERE online for a way to fix the portal and found NOTHING. A lot of the people who even mentioned broken portals had portals that still lit up, but my portal does not. In addition there's no screws to loosen either, which means it's basically screwed, and I have to buy a new one! I have two options: wait till next Saturday and buy ANOTHER portal from the Pawn Store, or order one online, either way I won't get one fast enough. I wanted to play this game LAST week, and now I have to wait another week to play it.

Wait, just Grim Creeper legs? He's not a swapper, soooo...

Yeah, a broken, almost completely missing Grim Creeper with no head, arms, weapon, or body. ...Just his legs, base and a broken stump where the rest used to be.

2spooky5me. At least he (hopefully) still works in the game, which means you can even build him back up if you're into figure customization. He's transluscent so even hot glue is a nice start.

Remember you can use Portals from other games that came after Swap Force, if that helps.

Also, poor Grim Creeper. A kid confused him with a Swapper.

Exactly, try with Trap Team and/or SuperChargers portals, they work with every game if I remember well.

Also, if you're buying a used portal, I think it has to say Xbox 360 on the bottom. If it doesn't say that, just assume it won't work. Xbox One will not work.

Portal compatibility:

X360 works only on X360
X1 works only on X1
PS3/PS4/Wii/WiiU works on PS3/PS4/Wii/WiiU

I looked on the bottom and nowhere does it say XBox 360.

Well, as you can see, that's not true. Probably you have bought a portal for a different console and that's why it doesn't work. You need a XBox 360 portal from any game but SA and Giants, basically.

Something else to remember, a portal without it's dongle is worthless other than for a paperweight.

I was wondering, couldn't you get new starter sets of those for under $10? They were blowing them out not that long ago for around that price. Currently http://www.toysrus.com/product...rentPage=family $15 at TRU. I assume they were selling these things for a dollar or so which is why you got them used?

I'd send you one of my spares if it didn't care more to ship it than it would be for you to buy one. Either way, having two dead portals is suspicious. I'm hoping it's not your console. At least with a new starter set you'd know as the chances of that being DOA are very slim.

No, the first portal works, just not with Swap Force. Apparently, the Swap Force portal isn't an XBox 360 portal. They have loads of portals at the Pawn Store, and next time I might just buy multiple to make SURE I get one that works.

We're telling you, SA and Giants portal don't support later games.

Did you try at GAME? They usually send second-hand portals at low prices, and the store staff will tell you from which console the portal is (they have to know what are they selling).

Yeah, sorry. In Europe it's called "Game" only.

There are both GameStop stores and GAME stores throughout Europe. Some countries only have one of them, some countries have both.

But both belong to the same company/group as far as I know, and in some countries are even the same, that's why I said that, basically.

Yeah, I was going to say go to Gamestop, too if you need to buy another portal.

I just checked all my Xbox 360 portals (Spyro's Adventure, Giants, Swap Force, Trap Team, SuperChargers) and they all say Xbox 360 on the bottom. I don't have Imaginators for 360, but I would bet that it says it too. As long as it says Xbox 360, it's supposed to work.

Why would it? Did you read the OP?

As others have said, if you have an Xbox 360, you need to make sure the portal says it on the bottom. Microsoft wants proprietary hardware for its systems (not even compatible between 360 and XB1), and that includes Skylanders portals. They made sure to put on the bottom of the portal whether or not it is an Xbox 360 portal, so it's easy to determine if it will be compatible. Does the pawn shop allow you to return or exchange? Maybe if they're the same price you can take it in and explain that you got the wrong one and see if you could exchange it for the right one (assuming that they have it). If not, hopefully it didn't cost you too much.

take it back to that pawn shop and say you want to exchange it to the correct one for your xb360 version. before someone else pick up that xb360 portal that dont work on their ps3/ps4/wii/wiiu...

If the don't have a 360 portal at your pawn store, you could always buy a portal online.

I went back and bought a new one. This one works, but I still won't be able to play it till tomorrow since my parents get the TV all day when they're home.
