time for another "probably would be a good tv show if i had drawing skills" post

Pyren lived an average life- average school, average home, average day. But one day, he woke up in a world different than anything he’d ever known. They called it the “Odd Realm”- a place where creatures of all kinds live. With no way back home, Pyren decided to do something out of the ordinary- stay in the Odd Realm, in Oddtown. Pyren has met quite a few quirky friends- a talking snake, a dragon girl, a fawn, a flightless dragon, a nice tree grandpa, and many more.

Oddtown is an urban city slice of life with a twist- everything from the town to the characters are zany and weird. No one character is like the other. Pyren’s adjustment to Oddtown is aided by his new friends. Everything in Oddtown is beautiful in it’s own way- it’s anything but.

Main cast-

Pyren Spitzon- The first human to ever come into the Odd Realm. He fell from the sky one day, and was allowed to stay. Pyren has a cool, laid back personality. He often takes notes in his journal.

Tiffany Boanna- Tiffany is a talking, 9 foot long snake with twin-tail hair. She was the first to find Pyren, and allows him to stay with her family. She’s quite quirky and energetic, always having a new idea or adventure planned out. Her friends matter a lot to her.

Skylar Cloudale- Skylar is a white, humanoid dragon. She does a lot of athletic events- but her main focus is the school football team. She’s not one to be pushed around, but has a soft spot for the friends she’s made.

Ramanda McGoats- Ramanda is a fawn, with light grey fur and two large spiral horns. She often hosts whatever sleepovers and parties the group has, and is the only one with a paying job. She’s a kind person, but will get defensive if somebody is mean to her best friend, Skylar.

Andy Packson- Andy is a short, chubby dragon with no wings. He’s the youngest member of the group, and often does things to impress them. He’s developed a working Jet-Pack, allowing him to fly in appropriate weather. He has a major crush on Skylar, and wants to be the best possible person for her.

Han Klaymor- Han is a humanoid shaped being, made of putty. He has no distinct face, but can see/touch/speak/taste. He is referred to as “the cool kid” of the group- his flexibility and open schedule make for fun adventures. He has very limited limb morph skills- he is only ever able to make a small cup or his house keys. Han constantly tries to “fill the mold of life” as he puts it.

I mean, you don't need to be good at drawing to make CGI animation. As long as you know how to make it...

Look, dude. There's plenty, and I mean, PLENTY of good animations out there that don't rely on CGI or even good drawing skills to make good shows. I mean, South Park was originally made with nothing but dialogued slideshows of cut-out construction paper scenes, and to this day, you can still see evidence of this from the first several episodes of the show.

There's also been a YouTube channel that's been advertised to me recently called "Stikbot Central," which is a community oriented stop motion channel that centers around these little robot thingamajiggers with suction cups for hands and feet, doing whatever the hell the community comes up with for jokes, mini series, whatever. The majority of their videos are actually better than what you'd expect from a community oriented channel.

Here's the first video I saw after the ad:

I'm still waiting for part 2 of this "Levels" mini series, but considering the production quality behind that mini-series, it's likely the creator of this mini series is a bit of a perfectionist, and rightfully so. I hope that I'll get to see part 2 one day, but there's Stikbot Central's other series to keep me occupied in the meantime, such as "What the Bot?"

And there's those other random quips I mentioned, but they're part of an untitled series.

You can even get a few Stikbots yourself for this, if you want to.

They have a cute URL for this website, too. Check out stikbot.toys sometime, if you're interested in this. I think I sure would be.

CGI is good, but softwares are very expensive. I use Poser for animation.
