This might be a dumb question, but if I miss a grand prix, does that mean I miss out on unlocking the racers from that challenge? I missed out on the Back N. Time grand prix as I haven't played the game in a while, so does that mean I won't be able to unlock Baby T?

You can fill the GP bar with Wumpa Coins after the end of a Grand Prix (they give you 3-4 days of rotations in the shop aaaaand to fill the bar to the gold tier)
Get the bar items before they goes out

Post all about it when it comes out! To refresh myself on the first Spyro (besides 100%ing it 3 times), I recently started replaying it, I'm up to Gnasty's World now! While I'm dissapointed about Ripto and The Sorceress being left out, Gnasty is way better of a villian than I remember. I love his voice! He looks to be a speed character so I'll play as him loads. Can't wait.

This got merged with this topic, it was a Spyro GP topic before lmao

Not really sure if this is the right topic, but here are my thoughts on the Spyro Grand Prix so far:

Happy Thoughts!

- I like the music from the Spyro track! I think it's repurposed from some unused music in Spyro 3. You can find it if you hack the game and freeze the title screen.

- The fur they added to Hunter's model looks nice!

- I like how they changed the normal CTR title screen to a purple one with Spyro designs.

- The Sparx power up music is cool! It makes me think of the GBA games.

Complaining Thoughts!

- I don't like Spyro and Hunter's voice lines. They're kind of long and awkward in comparison to the other characters in the game. Plus they sort of feel like they're missing a certain bite to them, which makes the characters seem sort of incomplete to me. (This is a general problem I have with Reignited) Haven't played Gnasty, so I don't have anything to say on him yet.

I found this GP a bit disappointing so far to be honest.

Pros
-The characters we got are cool.
-Spyro Circuit is pretty and I like the music. I also like how they made crates and Wumpa Fruit into chests and Gems.
-The kart designs are cool.
-I like the Elemental Wheels and Gem paint jobs.
-The new title screen was a nice surprise and I hope they give us the option to keep it after the GP ends.

Cons
-Layout wise, Spyro Circuit is just not great, easily the worst of the GP tracks so far. The only (intentional) shortcut in the track can only be consistently made on demand by Speed characters. The track is oddly linear despite open-ended exploration being a core theme of Spyro (so I was expecting something more like Yoshi Valley from Mario Kart 64, where there are a variety of routes to play around with). A lot of the turns are just awkward to make especially if you want to be a Speed character. And for some reason there is no offroad sections at all, instead, the grassy area you would think is offroad is considered out of bounds. Even the top of the walls surrounding it is, meaning you can be respawned by Sparx for just grazing the tip of the wall. Also it's disappointing that they used two Artisans levels and two Magic Crafters levels, they should have thrown in a Tree Tops section and maybe something from Dream Weavers too. Also I don't know what the deal is with random fireworks chests sitting in the middle of certain roads. Like they're not even intelligently placed or anything, their placement feels very random.

-No legendary skin for Spyro at the top of the Gold Tier of the Nitro Bar, instead it's Evil Crunch. In general, a lot of the skins just aren't really Spyro related. I was expecting stuff like a Spyro hoodie for Crash, an Elora skin for Coco, Sgt. Penta, etc. But other than the Devli Dog Zam and Gnorc skins for the Norms, none of the skins are actually Spyro themed, either just generic fantasy themed stuff or something completely unrelated.

-Accel mains got screwed since Coco is the only bonus character in Accel and none of the new characters are Accel. I generally feel the stats for the Spyro characters are all over the place. IMO Spyro should have been Accel, Hunter should have been Speed, and Gnasty could be Balanced or another Speed. If they were going to make Spyro Speed, then they should have at least made Hunter Accel, but he's stuck in Balanced instead for some bizarre reason, even though Balanced is actually quite slow.

I'm hoping they will at least sprinkle some Legendary skins for the Spyro characters throughout other GPs since they were willing to break themeing for this one.

I'm rather unfamiliar with the whole PlayStation online thing, since I haven't had my PS4 for too long and I haven't really done anything online. So I've got a few questions to ask.

To access the pit stop and grand prix, do I just have to be logged into my PlayStation network account, or do I need to buy PlayStation Plus? And how exactly do you unlock the new characters (Spyro, etc), and do you need PS Plus for it? All I got from videos was 'play a lot of races'. And are the grand prix just versus online players, or can it be versus CPU, and will I need PS Plus for that too?

All you need for the pit stop and grand prix is to be connected to the internet and have your game be up to date.
To unlock Spyro, you just have to keep doing races to fill up a nitro gauge. You don't even have to do multiplayer, just any race at all. If you go on Grand Prix on the main menu, you can find lists of objectives you can complete to fill the nitro gauge more quickly.
Other characters are unlocked either from Adventure mode or buying them from the pit stop with wumpa coins that you obtain from every race.
You only need PS Plus if you want to do online multiplayer.
Hope that helps. smilie

Worth noting that online races give you more Coins and Nitro, but they can still be collected racing offline, as long as you keep your internet connection while playing.

You have to build Nitro to unlock Spyro. To do that, go to the Grand Prix mode in the main menu and check the available missions. Complete them in all other modes to fill your Nitro Gauge. You'll unlock various prizes, including Spyro.

Gnasty and Hunter must be bought in the Pit Stop using Wumpa Coins. The Pit Stop changes its available items everyday, so it's up to luck on whether or not those two will be available. Gnasty is available in a bundle with two skins for Small Norm and Big Norm today, at least for me. Dunno if the Pit Stop is the same for everybody.

As for characters from past Grand Prix events, Activision said those characters will be available again in a later date. We don't know when and how, but I assume by the time all Grand Prix events are over. We hope they keep their promise.

I'm already loving this Grand Prix, and it hasn't even officially started yet. lol

Honestly, while I still enjoyed the Spyro & Friends Grand Prix quite a bit, it felt like a step down from the Back in Time one.
Which is weird to me because I wasn't really expecting much from the latter at all, but it ended up blowing my expectations way out of the water.
Conversely, the Spyro & Friends Grand Prix - while still good - felt a bit disappointing by comparison, and admittedly a little rushed. ;;

This Grand Prix already feels like an improvement over the previous one, and is honestly shaping up to be my favorite of the Grand Prix events so far. <3

Nah, not him.

The Lab Assistant was found in the most recent datamine, alongside Baby Cortex and Baby N. Tropy.
(The latter two were both in previous datamines for the longest time alongside Ripto, The Sorceress, Emperor Velo (Who we now have, obviously), and Willie Wumpa Cheeks)

That said, the last couple of datamines have had a character whose name keeps changing, and seems to speak in riddles much like Willie himself would often do.

Masterlist of new content: (Going to be doing this from now one because I have nothing better to do lmao)

- Three new characters including the Lab Assistant enemy, Baby Cortex, and Baby N. Tropy, with there skins being the following:
  • Hacker, Nice, and Traveler skins for the Lab Assistant for winning one, ten, and 25 races respectfully. Three Legendary skins as well, those being Knight, Lumberjack, and Prince respectfully.
  • (The Lumberjack skin is from the bee levels in Cortex Strikes Back, whereas the other two are from the medieval levels in Warped; the Prince specifically being the result of when frogs from said levels kiss, and therefore kill you)
  • Purple, Blue, and Red skins for Baby Cortex for winning one, ten, and 25 races respectfully.
  • Yellow, Purple, and Red skins for Baby N. Tropy by winning one, ten, and 25 races respectfully

- An additional character in the form of a "fixed" Rilla Roo that is more accurately based off of his original appearance in Crash Bash.
(The original Rilla Roo added back during the Winter Festival Grand Prix is still in the game, and both have different skins; Fixed Rilla Roo's skins being Green, Pink, and Blue for winning one, ten, and 25 races respectfully

- Four entirely new Legendary skins for Coco, Geary (Finally), Penta, and Ripper Roo respectfully.
  • Coco's Alice skin is based off of the titular character from Disney's 1951 animated film Alice in Wonderland
  • Geary's Beenox Robot skin is based off of their old mascot (This skin is given to you for free by simply updating the game)
  • Penta's Gentleman skin might based, albeit loosely, off of the villain The Penguin from the Batman comics
  • Ripper Roo's Bedtime skin adorns him with pajamas

- Dozens of recolors of existing Legendary skins including:
  • Beenox, Space, and Arcade recolors of Crash's Aviator skin (The Beenox one is unlocked for free by updating the game)
  • Beenox, Anime, and Rusted recolors of Cortex's Robo skin (The Beenox one is unlocked for free by updating the game)
  • Black, White, and Red recolors of Tiny's General skin
  • Biohazard, Space, and Bughunt recolors of Dingodile's Hazmat skin
  • Hunter, Marmalade, and Caring recolors of Polar's Fisherman skin (The Caring one is likely based off of Care Bears)
  • Red Warbler, Lovebird, and Sandpiper recolors of Penta's Ninja skin
  • Shamrock, Outback, and Negative recolors of Pinstripe's Gangster skin (The Shamrock skin might be based off of Riddler from the Batman comics, whereas the Negative skin could be based off of Mr. Negative from the 2018 Spider-Man game for PS4)
  • Oil, Juiced, and Lava recolors of Fake Crash's Monster skin (The Juiced one is clearly made of Wumpa juice smilie)
  • Beenox, 24H, and Racer Le recolors of Crunch's Racer skin (Beenox skin is unlocked for free by updating the game)
  • Chocolate recolor of N. Trance's Humpty skin (a.k.a A chocolate Easter egg) and a Beenox recolor of Megamix's Rustland skin (Which, unlock the other Beenox skins, is not unlocked by updating the game)
  • Black Velvet, Pastel, and Green recolors of Tawna's Witch skin
  • Pink, Blue, and Purple recolors of Nina's Ragdoll skin
  • Space Marine, Beenox, and Love recolors of Koala Kong's Astronaut skin (The Beenox skin, much like Megamix's, is not unlocked by updating the game like the other Beenox-themed skins are)

- Three new karts including The Cog, Neon Hawk, and Nitro GT.
(The Cog is unlocked for free by updating the game and is a hovercraft based off of Beenox's gear/cog logo, whereas the Neon Hawk is a customizable version of the Firehawk Special Kart lacking it's signature paintjob and decals but being the same otherwise)

- The decals for the three new karts are as follows: (In order of Basic to Legendary)
  • Space Tube, Straight Line, Optimal Primer, Sound Waves, and Flying Donut for The Cog
  • Air Style, Two Tones, Flying Stars, Moving Target, and Cloud Burst for the Neon Hawk
  • Formula N., Nitro Edge, Nitro Burst, Nitro Speed, and Sticker Blast for the Nitro GT

- New wheels including Beenox as well as the ones for the Nitro GT (The Beenox wheels are unlocked for free by updating the game, whereas the ones for the Nitro GT are unlocked with the kart in it's respective bundle in the Pit Stop)

- Six new paint jobs including The Cog Blue, Neon Hawk Pastel, and Nitro GT Grey in addition to Trophy Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
(The former three are unlocked with their respective karts, whereas the latter three are unlocked by beating all of the Cups on Easy, Medium/Normal, and Hard respectfully; Beating the harder difficulties unlocks the lower tier's rewards as well)

- Oddly only one new sticker was added, that being the Beenox one. (Which is their logo, obviously smilie) No portrait stickers for the new characters or anything else, really.

- In the place of Nitro Challenges since Gasmoxia was the last Grand Prix, we now have Wumpa Challenges that reward Wumpa Coins instead that are broken into daily, weekly, and Pro/Monthly respectfully
(Daily challenges reward 25, Weekly reward 75, and Pro/Monthly reward 200 Wumpa Coins for each challenge completed)

- Finishing a race now totals together the normal payout for completely the race in addition to whether you have collecting a Golden Wumpa and/or completed any Wumpa Challenges or not into a grand total, rather than just the base payout
(Thus making it easier to know how much you got at the end of the race if you did do more than just complete it)

- Ghosts have been added back, but only to Nina's Nightmare. They function the same, however, and can count towards specific Wumpa Challenges related to catching them.
(Similarly, Golden Wumpas are here to stay and still reward 200 Wumpa Coins each, in addition to counting towards Wumpa Challenges that pertain to them)

- The Champion Kart and its respective wheels and paint jobs can still be unlocked by beating all of Oxide's times in Time Trial Mode for all of the tracks (Barring Retro Stadium) alongside his decal for said kart.
(Emperor Velo XXVII's decal for the kart also remains for those who beat all of his times in aforementioned mode, though all previous Grand Prix decals remain locked saved for those who have already unlocked them)

- Finally, there is an additional set of wheels that I forgot to mention that are unlocked by beating the Developer Times in Time Trial Mode, which have been added to the game as of today and are even harder than beating Emperor Velo XXVII's times

I'll fix this up a bit later, I'm tired. lol
