In the city of Redwater, people are not always what they seem. There are many citizens who secretly have great skills, unique weaponry, and stunning intellect. In Redwater, the city supports itself, a fact which is commonly known among the people. The problem? Nobody knows who is the hero, who is the villain, and who is simply a citizen trying to live their every day life, and there are plenty of the last. Anyone can be a hero, and as such, anyone can be a villain. For the citizens of this bustling settlement, it's a matter of personal choice, and if you have the intellect and abilities to back it up. When you walk past a stranger on the street, they could very well be a villain plotting the downfall of the city, your best friend could be your enemy. That life is secret, though. No one ever knows. Villains and heroes befriend each other in their normal lives, waiting for a job to open up, waiting for a chance to save - or ruin - the day. From petty crimes to large scale villainy, there is darkness on the streets of Redwater and there is darkness within our daily lives. It is up to the heroes to root out this evil. The greatest terror for a hero or villain in this city is not failing their plans, be them good or evil, but being unmasked, being discovered. Outside of the crimes, the heroics, and the rivalries, these people have second lives, friends and families, and the greatest fear would be losing that forever, simply because now people know exactly who and what you are. Life would never be the same. The only rule in Redwater? Don't get unmasked.
Note: Superpowers are not inherent in the common person, and the citizens of Redwater are no different. Babies are not commonly born with the ability to fly or super strength. However, one man can be born quicker than another, one can be stronger. A man might be more clever, or understand technology others find mysterious. Humans do not need superpowers. With science and a creative mind, we can make our own powers.
Summary
You live in a city where superheroes and super-villains are a common presence. However, these heroes and villains also have regular lives, jobs and friends and families all which hold no relation to their heroic or villainous actions. You can play as a superhero defending the city from villainy, a villain hoping to achieve nefarious goals, or an every day citizen just trying to live in this chaos. Whatever your role, you should enjoy life, make friends, and always be aware of the city's secrets.
Rules:
- Please follow standard forum rules. Please do not use obsessive or overly obscene language or divulge into too mature of territory. Remember, the community can be both adults and teens.
- No godmodding, metagaming, OP characters, or anything of the like. We don't want a character to severely outclass everyone else.
- Don't be immature. Your character might act like that, but doesn't mean you have to.
- As secret identities are an important role in this RP and keeping that secret is equally as important, characters secret identities - if they have one - cannot be revealed without being discussed with the characters owners. Unmasking happens, but it shouldn't undermine someone's character unless they want it to happen.
- Not everyone is a superhero or super-villain. There would be little reason to have heroes and villains if everyone was one. As such, please don't give every single character powers. Make some normal people, every day citizens.
- Heroes and villains don't necessarily act as civilians as they do when masked. If a villain committed crimes during his daily life, he would hardly have one. You can be whatever you want outside the mask, long as you aren't completely contradicting yourself without reason.
- Don't force someone to be your friend or enemy. You can approach them nicely or cruelly, but they are not obligated to act similarly back.
- Try not to destroy the entire city. I know some of you are villains, but where will you live if literally everything is gone?
- While there's no real character limit, I ask you not to make more characters than you can handle. I don't want boring characters because you have too many. Only go with what you can maintain.
In Addition:
- This RP is meant to be heavily driven by character relations, both as heroes VS villains and every day civilians. Don't leave people out. I encourage you to frequently get to know people. Hang out, have fun. Just because your hero is the mortal enemy of someone's villain, doesn't mean they have to hate each other during the day. Remember, they don't act like heroes and villains during daily activities, don't know secret identities. I encourage the super characters to befriend the non-super ones and heroes to at least try hanging out with the villains - when not on the job, of course.
- If you have any questions about the town of Redwater, lore and history, or just the RP in general, please ask. This is heavily improvised, so I might not have considered what you were wondering, or just never mentioned it.
