Woot a fanfiction. Just like almost all the fanfictions on here they are about my OC dragon Illumina, Or Lumi as she goes by in this story. This is a prolouge of sorts to my Spyro fancomic Brilliance, telling the story of how Illumina came to become the light dragon elder she is today, Hope you enjoy it!

First part, and it's pretty long, i didn't know where to leave it off so I just kind of kept going lol.

The chatter of hatchlings was overwhelming. The tiny dragons sat, huddled in groups on the paved stone floor of the temples central chamber. The elders had tasked a few of the older, adolescent dragons with the task of babysitting so to speak, to keep the young ones safe and entertained. Lumi sighed heavily, her blue eyes watching two of the hatchlings tumble over her front paws and another three climbing up to perch haphazardly on her back, another one batting her long tail playfully.

She watched fondly, she was good with children, unlike poor Reno, who she looked over to. The red dragon was desperately chasing after one of his assigned group who had made a daring escape, leaving his other hatchlings to do as they pleased. She shifted slowly, allowing the young ones riding her back enough time to slide off onto the floor before she stood up.

She was a strange dragon, light grey blue in colour that would give anyone the impression that she were off the ice element, this was not the case. Other oddities were that she had a mane of sorts; long bangs of silvery blue hair reaching not quite half way down her neck and a messy fringe almost covering her eyes. Her tail also had the same hair, instead of the usual fin that most dragons possessed. Her horns were dark grey, long and straight above ears, yes she had ears, long, point ears. And her strange traits didn’t stop there, her wings, they resembled birds wings, but instead of being made of flimsy feathers they were made with tiny, white scales so they couldn’t be affected by water.

The surprise that the elders had when she first emerged from her unsuspecting blue egg, there had been no record of a dragon baring resemblance to her for over three thousand years, however that dragon had disappeared. Nothing was known about her ancestor.

She turned as she heard the round stone doors opening. A large yellow dragon stepped into the chamber, Elec, once of the dragon elders and the guardian of electricity here to announce that it was time for the next group of younger dragons to replace Lumi, Reno and the others. Lumi, being closest to the door made her way out first, waiting at the entrance for Reno who was more than happy the off duty. They walked with the rest of the group, standing at the back whilst they conversed. Lumi smiled as she heard Reno sigh. “Your glad it’s over” It was more of a statement than a question. Reno turned an orange eye to her.
“Is it that obvious?” He asked.
“You were running around like a loon back there, do you really find it that difficult to keep hatchlings under control”

Reno snorted and turned to glare at the floor. “They like you, so it’s easy for you Lumi” She shook her head in response.

“It would be easier if you weren’t so anxious, they can sense your nervousness” Lumi explained. Reno didn’t reply, finding the conversation now bordering on pointless.

“Illumina” Lumi turned at the sound of her name, coming face to face with the guardian leader, Blaze. She stopped following the rest of the teen dragons and approached the elder.

“Is there something wrong sir?” She asked. Blaze shook his head. “I just want a word, meat me in the library later; there is something I need to speak with you about”. With the message delivered he made his way back down the hatchling chamber. Lumi watched him go before hurrying to catch up with the others.

After training was finished Lumi made her way too the library as instructed. The round doors slide open as she approached them and she padded slowly into the library. There were shelves upon shelves of dusty scrolls, scriptures and books. The musty smell of old paper filled the air as she made her way through the aisles of shelves until the found the elder. He lay down, a large scroll rolled out in front of him. He raised his head as she came towards him, a small smile on his face in contrast to the worry in his eyes.

“Illumina” He began moving a claw back and forth in a motion to beckon her forward. “What do you know about yourself?” The question seemed straight forward but Lumi found herself at a loss. “I know that I’m… Different” She replied finally. “I know that there hasn’t been one like me for thousands of years” She added. Blaze turned back to the scroll, it was dusted, it’s paper yellowed and torn in places, it must be very old.

“It is true that you’re different” He said, not looking up from the old writing. “You can’t breathe an element”. Lumi looked down at the floor, ashamed about this. She had never been able to breathe an elemental breath, this had made her a laughing stock of the rest of the dragon’s her age, not really all though, two others had never laughed at her, Reno being one and the earth dragon Freya.

“I try to make up for it” Lumi retorted defensively, but bit her tongue when she realized she had come across rude. Blaze looked up at her. “Yes, you’ve instead devoted your time to training in Dragon-kata to make up for it, your fighting skills are most impressive”. He smiled as Lumi quickly thanked him for the compliment.

“Illumina, you should take a look at this” Blaze lowered his head again as Lumi walked over to him, standing next to him and looking over his shoulder at the ancient scroll. Her eyes widened as she gasped. The dragon in the center of the scroll bared an uncanny resemblance to herself. The same fine traits, ears, wings, down to the pigment of the scales. Only this dragon was male.

“What is this?” Illumina whispered, never taking her eyes off the image. Blaze sighed turning his head a bit towards her.

“A long time ago a terrible evil spread across our world. It was darkness, like shadow fire. An evil shadow dragon known as Phantom controlled it, wishing to consume everything to rule over the lands that had shunned him because of his thirst and hunger for power”.

Lumi frowned, “What has that got to do with this?” she nodded to the picture “Or me?” Blaze waved a paw. “I’m getting there” He cried sternly. “You see before the darkness began spreading, this mysterious dragon was born” He pressed a claw to the picture. “According to the records he was known as Shine, he possessed the rare and forgotten light element” He turned to Lumi, eyes serious. “You bare a striking resemblance to the legendary Shine; I believe that you are a light dragon”. Lumi stared in stunned silence.

“So, you believe that I possess the same powers that he does?” She asked and gulped when Blaze nodded. “Your birth predicts the coming of another great evil, the rise of another darkness”.

“But I can’t even breathe an element why do you think it’s me?” She cried helplessly, slowly taking nervous steps away from the elder, shaking in disbelieve. Blaze’s eyes softened, the young dragoness was in such a state. He stood up slowly. “Illumina, even Shine was unable to breath an element, when the time comes your power will awaken. Now go, get some sleep, we will talk more in the morning”.

Illumina nodded, letting out a shaking breathe before bowing her head in respect and exiting the library.

Lumi swung the small pack over her back, the thick strap wrapped snugly round her middle. It carried a few supplies as well as the scroll Blaze had shown her the night before. She raised her head, it was dawn and the sky was becoming a brilliant red and gold as the sun rose slowly from the horizon.

She thought back to what she had been told moments before. Her existence meant that there was a terrible evil approaching; she needed to follow in her ancestor’s footsteps and fight against it. Her eyes narrowed and she turned in the direction of the Northern Mountains rising up in the distance. She spread her wings and took off, gliding quickly through the air to her first destination.

I double posted... Oh well. Next parts up.

It was midday when Illumina arrived. The rabbit village was bustling already and she received a warm welcome from those she first encountered when she landed. She had been told to stop here to rest before continuing. After collecting some more food for the journey she found herself wandering slowly through the village. She turned round the corner of one of the huts only to suddenly be knocked to the ground.

“Hey sorry”

Lumi looked up at the familiar voice. “Reno?” She gasped in surprise as the fire dragon grinned sheepishly, “Sorry didn’t mean to walk into you” He apologized as He helped Lumi stand up again.

“What are you doing here?” She asked, how did they get here before she did, she had flown at full speed to get here.

“Simple” Said another voice from behind them. A dark green earth dragoness stepped out from behind the building. “We took another route, through the mountains” The earth dragon explained as she approached the two. “You’d be surprised how quick you can get through when you know the right way”.

“Freya, you’re here too?” Lumi blinked, reeling back a bit in surprise. Frey grinned in response. “Of course” She replied.

“We heard that you had left this morning from Blaze, we thought it would have been lonely for you to leave on your own, So we followed you, heading in the direction one of the other dragons saw you leave in” Blaze explained before Freya added:

“Yeah, we figured you would stop here, it’s the only settlement for miles, we thought we’d surprise you” She laughed. Lumi merely smiled and thanked the two for their concern. She doubted they knew about why she had left but she would explain that to them later, it was only fair they heard the truth.

“It would be good to rest here” Lumi blinked as she snapped out of her thoughts and looked up at Freya who was heading towards an inn near the middle of the village. “Who knows where Lumi’s gonna end up taking us” Frey looked back over her wing and grinned teasingly. Lumi huffed and glared back but followed after her, Reno bringing up the rear.

Wow! Wish I could create great stories like these

The three set out bright and early, beginning to trek across the mountain range. The wind was far too violent to fly. Reno groaned as they walked, finding himself lagging considerably behind the two females. “What up!” He called out, panting a bit as he stepped up to the two dragonesses, Illumina waiting patiently, Freya tapping her paw quickly on the ground. “C’mon slowpoke” Freya moved behind Reno and gave him a shove with her front paw. Lumi moved to his side to nudge him encouragingly.

“It’s not far now” She confirmed with a smile. Reno let out a sigh of relief. Frey looked up, her curious gaze trained on Lumi, “’It’ being where?” She asked and Lumi looked over her wing. “You’ll see” She replied, smiling as they reached the peak of the hill.

All gasped, Lumi had not been expecting anything like this. Before them was what seemed to be a temple, like the one they too were hatched in. But this one was on a much bigger scale, through some clever stone work; the temple was in set into the sides of the multiple mountains surrounding it on all sides. The walls were a white, built from brilliant marble that seemed to glow. It looked untouched.

“This is it” Lumi breathed. The only way in was too fly down into the large over grown garden they could see built into the balcony of the architecture. The three descended down. Lumi turned to the other two dragons; Freya’s eyes were narrowed whilst Reno was absentmindedly gazing round. “You have some explaining to do” Frey exclaimed, Lumi gulped and nodded, it was time they knew the truth.

Awsome. I love it. Nice fan-character! I also like reading brilliance and I can't wait for the next part of both the fanfic and the comic! Also, one question, is Illumina blind in this fan-fic?

Lumi explained to them what she had been told by the elder Blaze, about what her birth foretold, about what her future was and about what she knew of the last Light dragon; Shine. She told Freya and Reno without restraint, showing them the scroll as proof.

Lumi took a deep breath, closing her eyes as she waited for her friends to speak. They remained in that awkward silence for a long time. Freya finally spoke, much to Lumi’s relief. “I can’t really believe it” She murmured and Lumi looked at her nervously. Reno too shook her head. “To think your some powerful dragon, I would love to rub it in those smug faces of the others” Lumi smiled at Freya’s remark. The others had considered her strange, a freak so to speak, her odd appearance and her inability to breathe an element.

Reno spoke up, “We’re with you Lumi, no mater what you are and what you go through. We’re here for you” Lumi smiled warmly and Freya nodded in agreement.

“Yeah, anyone tries hurting you I’ll SMASH ‘em!” She exclaimed, the club on her tail swinging dangerously behind her to emphasize the point.

That said, and Lumi reassured that she was not alone in this, they ventured on inside the abandoned temple. “What are we doing here anyway?” Reno asked as he looked round nervously. Freya grinned and nudged him with her wing in a playful manner. “Aww, what’s the matter? Scared?” She laughed and Reno huffed angrily, bright orange sparks flying from his snout. “No!” He said quickly with a growl. Lumi looked over her wing at the two and giggled quietly, turning back to face the front as they approached a large stone door.

As Lumi stepped up to the door a dim white glow enveloped the dragon carvings engraved in the stone, banishing the darkness inside the great hallway they were inside. The floor rumbled and shook as the door slowly began to slide open. Lumi turned to her friends. “Wait out here, no matter what happens just stay here” She spoke and turned to walk into the blinding white light that was now leaking through the gap between the doors before either Reno or Freya could speak.

Freya paced impatiently in front of the large stone doors. She occasionally looked up impatiently, frowning slightly before pacing back and forth again. Reno watched her, he was lying on the shiny marble floor after getting tired from standing whilst waiting. He frowned too, Lumi had been in there a while.

“What’s going on in there?” Freya cried angrily and whacked the stone door with the tail club. Reno winced and tried to calm her. “She’ll be out soon Freya, please just settle down”. Freya turned to him with a glare before turning it to the doors. She sighed and opted to lie next to him, staring helplessly up at the intricately carved doors. “She’s okay right?” Freya’s voice shook slightly, in need of reassurance. Reno smiled and nudged her comfortingly with his head, “Sure she will” He replied.

It wasn’t long after that, that the doors started to grind open again, the light spilling through and blinding the too. Through all this, singing could be heard. The voice was familiar but it sounded different some how. Illumina stepped out, eyes closed and a sweet song coming from her throat. It told of the ancestors, of ancient heroic dragons and of hope, lifting Reno and Freya’s spirits when the heard it.

Illumina was different after entering that light, it was painfully obvious. Her body had a glow to it that kept the dim hall way lit well after the doors had closed. Freya was the first to speak after Lumi’s song had ended, though the last words echoed round the great halls. “What happened to you?” She asked, unable to word her question any other way.

Lumi smiled softly, opening her eyes which held more wisdom than they had before. “My power has awakened” She replied, “I can combat the darkness with this” She explained, approaching the two calmly. Reno nodded, lost for words. “So where to now?” He asked and Lumi shook her head.

“No where yet, we’ll rest here for the night” Freya nodded, that was a wise idea. The group walked back outside, resting on the soft grass and curling up next to each other and falling into a deep sleep.

The smoke like substance leaked through the sides of the circular seal in the middle of the cave, it rose and floated up into the sky through the large hole in the caverns roof. The black dragon smirked. Everything was according to plan and the light dragoness had no idea how to use her powers yet. The ancient darkness would be released before she could do anything.

Phantom’s red eyes glinted in the dark, watching lazily as the darkness rose up from the weakened seal those foolish ancestors had placed over it thousands of years ago. He stretched out his large wings, the dark purple membrane straining as he did so. He tapped his claws against the stone of the platform his was resting on and growled slightly.

He would not be stopped again; no light dragon would stand in his way this time. He would take this ‘Illumina’ out whilst her powers were not at full capacity.

Three black figures appeared in front of him, floating above the cracked ground. Phantom gestured with his paw and the three creatures took off into the darkness

The three young dragons slept soundly, huddled close together to guard against the cold wind. It was early and the sun hadn’t risen yet. Freya shifted in her sleep, a little restless, her brown eyes opened slightly and she sat up. She had trouble sleeping now and then so it was nothing new to her.

She yawned and blinked the sleep away from her eyes when she heard a strange whisper. She shivered at the unearthly sound; it was a sound that no living creature could make. She slowly scanned the area nervously and contemplated waking the other two up.

She felt a chill down her spine, the whispering louder and right behind her. She turned her head, eyes wide with fear. The dark creature hovered over her, it had no eyes but she could feel its stare boring into her. She screamed when it was joined by two more, waking Lumi and Reno up with a start.

The three scrambled to their feet and backed away to get some desperately needed distance between them and the shadow like creatures. They watched, wide eyed as the substance which the beings were made out of began to twist and change in a grotesque fashion. Lumi gasped. The shadows had become copies of them.

Their features where the same, except the colours were black with purple for the lighter shades on their bodies, their eyes where completely bright, hot white and tendrils of dark smoke rose from their forms.

The dark dragon copies advanced on the originals.

Driven by fear, the three sprang into action. Lumi jumped to the left, Reno, the right and Freya, backwards. Freya smacked at her shadow with her front paws, knocking it down before brining her tail club down onto it. The shadow rolled out the way, the club smashing the floor where it had been and lashed out at Freya with its claw.

Reno jumped into the air, spinning and slapped his copy with his tail before swinging round and kicking it with his hind legs. Shadow Reno ducked and charged forward, driving into Reno’s chest and sent him sprawling along the ground before jumping up into the air and pinning the fire dragon down before he had chance to recover.

Illumina dodged out of the way from her shadows tail strike. She brought one wing up to defend herself when she was too slow. She jumped, flipping forward and striking her shadow on its head with her thin tail. It snarled in response, grabbing her tail and swinging her towards a wall with a strength that the original did not possess. Lumi braced herself, using the momentum as she hit the wall to jump of it again and charge at the shadow with her horns, ignoring the pain in all her legs that she obtained from hitting the wall and knocked the shadow too the ground.

“We can’t fight them!” Freya yelled hopelessly after the shadow recovered quickly after being struck by her earth flail attack and knocked her too the ground with a dark version of her own technique. Reno struggled to get his replica off him and cried out in pain as its sharp claws sunk into his shoulder. Lumi dodged out of the way of her fake’s attacks once more. Nothing was working.

She felt hopeless, thinking it was all over. It was then she heard a voice, not like the whispering of the shadows but warm, comforting. Illumina knew what had to be done. She breathed inwards, feeling strength and warmth rise in her. She opened her mouth, moving her neck forward. A blast of light came forth, knocking her duplicate of its feet. It writhed for a moment on the ground before dissipating with a haunting moan.

Illumina gasped, she was now able to breathe an element! She smiled, turning to the other shadows that leapt off their originals and dashed towards her. Her eyes narrowed as the two split into four. “Oh that’s fair” She muttered sarcastically as she heard Freya call out to her in concern, Reno lying unresponsive on the ground some way away.

Illumina felt power run through her, she was surprised, but it felt natural. Her form glowed as the shadows jumped at her, it felt as if time had slowed as she crouched down, eyes closed a circle appeared round her, an intricate design filling it. Her eyes opened suddenly and she reared up, eyes pure white as light blasted from her body in a wave of white. The shadows were disintegrated the same haunting sounds coming from them as the first before they disappeared forever. The light faded, so did the magic circle. Illumina took a deep breath, exhausted. Freya was at Reno’s side almost in tears but amazed by what she had seen.

Lumi rested beside her, “He needs healing” Freya whispered, her voice breaking a little. Lumi nodded, “Let’s get him inside” She suggested and the two dragonesses picked the fire dragon up, balancing him on their backs before carrying him inside the temple.

Freya gently rubbed a sweet smelling balm into Reno’s wounds; Lumi busied herself with tending to Freya’s own scratches. Lumi felt it was the least she could do since she had gotten them into this mess in the first place. Lumi noticed Freya’s concern and spoke soothingly “He’ll be fine” She sat beside her, rubbing the same balm into a nasty scratch on Freya’s shoulder, “You’ll see” She finished.

Freya swallowed hard, watching Reno’s still form, “Yeah” She replied plainly as she lowered her head. Lumi put one wing round her friend’s shoulder to comfort her. “He just needs some rest, if I knew how to control my new powers I might be able to heal him, but…” She trailed off, looking to the side nervously. The scroll she had with her said that light dragons could heal minor wounds and speed up the healing process of larger injuries. It didn’t help her with how to do so though.

Freya turned to her, “There must be a way” She said thoughtfully. “Wait, this is the light temple isn’t it?’ She said rhetorically, “So there must be something here that can help you!” She exclaimed. Lumi gasped “Like a library or something, like at our temple”. Lumi stood, “Freya that’s a great idea” She replied happily, “You stay with Reno; I’ll be back as quick as I can”. With that, Lumi hurried off down the corridor leading deeper into the temple.

Lumi huffed silently. This place was huge! She turned to the right, looking at the inscriptions on the wall to hopefully give her a hint as to where she was. It was no use; the writing was in an ancient tongue that she didn’t understand. She growled in frustration and headed on. This continued for some time before she came upon a large stone arch way. Behind it she could see shelves and shelves of books and scrolls. Her face lit up with a grin and she dashed inside. “I’ve found it!” She yelled as she trotted between the aisles, now she just had to find the right book or scroll. She faltered. There were hundreds in here. She groaned in frustration and began looking; she couldn’t even understand the language of some of the books since they were so old.

She was about to give up before conveniently finding the opposite end of the long room. A large book sat on a stone pedestal inside a stone circle. Curious, Lumi walked up to it, standing on her hind legs as she leant against the top of the book stand. She opened the pages. She coughed as dust flew into her face and she blinked several times to see clearly. When it had finally cleared she was crestfallen to see that the book was also written in the old dialect. She sighed but flicked through it anyway. She stopped when she came across a page with a picture much like the one on her scroll.

“Shine...” She whispered, thinking off how her ancestor coped with this destiny. She closed her eyes at the thought. ‘Tak, tak, tak’, she lifted her head, hearing the sound of footsteps on stone. They stopped when they sounded like they were behind her. She turned slowly.

“So, finally arrived have you?”

Lumi’s mouth fell open. “Shine?!” She gasped.

CLIFFHANGER!!

MAN! I DONT LIKE CLIFFHANGERS! Especially in stories as good as this. I can wait for the next bit BTW I liked Illumina so much I made a fan-char of her!

Shine smiled. Lumi was still in a state of shock, “How are you here?” She asked, scanning the other light dragon. She noted his body was slightly transparent, so that was it he was a spirit. Shine sighed, “It is fairly obvious” He replied as he stepped closer, slowly walking around her. “You look a lot like me, I guess that’s because you’re my descendent” he murmured, almost thinking out loud.

Lumi nodded, unsure of what to say in her ancestor’s presence. Shine stopped, standing in front of her. “So your powers have awakened it’s a pity you had to wait so long but they can only be woken here with the power of the temple” He explained. Lumi spoke up, her voice shaking nervously. “My friend is hurt” She stated, Shine cut across her, “I know” He replied firmly “I will have to teach you a bit more about your powers, you already have the basics down so that’s good” He grinned at her. Lumi nodded, smiling weakly in return.

So he began explaining how to further her abilities. The focus was a clear mind and to keep all negative emotions in check, calmness for her power was what was needed the most.

“It is true that anger and rage can empower you at a certain time” Shine explained afterwards. “However you need to be careful if you enter a rage induced state”. Lumi nodded, it sounded fair. “Shine; do you know where I go from here?” She asked, the scroll had told her where the temple was but not off her final destination.

Shine looked up at the ceiling in thought. “Continue heading north” He explained, “Your light powers will sense out your exact destination for you” He turned, beginning to walk away from her. “Illumina” She raised her head, he had stopped a few meters ahead of her. “I was severely injured whilst trying to complete my task, as you know I managed to finish my quest but I died shortly afterwards” He turned his head back to look over his wing at her. “You will be expected to take up the position of a dragon elder, where you will watch over an assigned land. You powers will grow incredibly strong” he explained.

“But… What you will loose to gain such power will be great” He turned away from her and began walking again. “Are you willing to make such a sacrifice?” He asked before fading away.

Illumina stood frozen to the spot, thinking over his words. What would she give up? Would she be willing too? She groaned, this was far too much. She took a deep breath and began walking out of the library and back to where Freya and Reno where waiting.

“Your back” Freya smiled as she saw her friend approach them “You took your time” She said sternly. Lumi didn’t reply and sat opposite Freya at Reno’s side. “Are you okay?” Freya asked, narrowing her eyes a bit and peering at Lumi in concern, as if trying to see what the problem was.

Lumi offered a weak, fake smile in return, “I’m fine” She replied, “Let’s just get Reno healed then”. She placed on paw over the worst of the gashes in his shoulder, a white glow surrounded it and after a few moments Lumi removed her paw. The scratch had healed up nicely, but wasn’t completely healed over. Lumi began on the rest of the smaller scratches. Freya watched in amazement.

Reno groaned and began to shift, his orange eyes opening. “What happened?” He asked, raising his head a bit. Freya gently pushed him back down, “You shouldn’t move, you’re still healing” She explained. Reno nodded, obediently staying on the floor. “Thank you, both of you” He whispered. Freya laughed,

“Lumi did most of the work” She explained but Lumi shook her head.

“It was your idea for me to go and find that library” She insisted.

“You both helped me” Reno said sternly and the two didn’t argue anymore.

“Right, will get moving tomorrow since we all need our rest” Freya said before yawning. The others nodded, curling up on the floor and falling asleep.

Awsome, I love it! YAY! I am no going to check the comics, to see if there's any new ones since I last looked.

The next part... I'm almost done!

They left early in the morning, still drowsy from not having a good night sleep. Lumi led them through the sky, over the northern mountains until they found themselves over the ocean. Lumi’s senses were alive with her newly awakened powers, all of them drawing her to her final destination.

“Are we there yet!?”

“Reno shut up!”

“Aw…”

Reno pouted and stared up at Illumina who was flying in front but slightly over him. He gave a quick glance to Freya who looked just as unsure as he did. He felt uneasy, the further they travelled they travelled the more his anxiousness set in.

“There” he heard Lumi announce and he looked towards him eyes wide as he saw black clouds alight with thunder storms ahead of them. The clouds had gathered around the top of a black mountain that dominated the small island it stood on. He gulped.

They descended, landing on the cracked, grey and lifeless earth around the mountain. Lumi looked up and knew that this was it. “From here on out I’m on my own” She stated, loud enough for the two to hear over the sound of thunder coming from somewhere above their heads.

“What?” Freya hissed as her eyes narrowed. Reno nodded.

“We can’t leave you” He declared firmly, “We’re with you”

Lumi turned her head to look over her wing at them with a small, sad smile. “Thank you, but I don’t want you involved. It is… Far too dangerous” She replied before walking away. Freya snarled and charged round in front of her.

“We’re not leaving you!” She insisted. Lumi sighed heavily.

“I’m sorry but I can’t let you share whatever dark fate that is waiting for me”

“You’re a light dragon, the dark can’t scare you!” Freya cried.

All three’s heads snapped up as they heard rumbling from the mountain above them. Lumi gasped, “It’s time, I have to go, now!” She gritted her teeth and pushed herself up off the ground and flew up into the air.

Freya and Reno gave chase, desperately trying to keep up.

“LOOK OUT!” Rocks fell from the upper peak, large boulders falling in front of the earth and fire dragons who thought they were dead for sure. They fell, falling from a great height.

“We’re… Alive” Reno murmured as he began to get his bearings back. The two were lying on the ground inside a perfect circle that was clear of any of the fallen rocks debris.

“Reno, look” Freya was looking up, Reno did too. ‘What is that?” She asked. There was a shield over them; it resembled the pattern of light shining through water. “Illumina… She used her power to save us” Freya whispered as she lowered her head slowly to face Reno who simply nodded. “She was right, it really is dangerous here” He replied.

“Yeah” Was Freya’s only response as she looked down to the floor. Reno smiled sadly and got up to sit next her, putting one wing round her for comfort.

“It’s so dark” Lumi whispered as she slowly descended down through the large cavern leading through the middle of the mountain, it was the only way to get through without being noticed. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness, now she was able to see where the way out was. She landed, thinking it was safer to go ahead on foot and began trudging towards the opening at the other end.

“This is it” She looked down, seeing the now loose seal break even more and watched as the darkness spiraled up to the dim sky above. She gasped as the cave shook, rocks dislodged above her and she was knocked violently from the hole she was watching from and landed on the hard ground below with a loud thud.

The shaking stopped and Lumi looked up, seeing a shadow loom over her. “So you’ve finally arrived” The figure began to walk round her slowly. “You’re here like your ancestor before you, but you won’t stop me” It stopped walking, standing in front of her as it leaned in, “Not like he did” The dark dragon Phantom hissed dangerously. Lumi’s eyes widened. She scrambled to her feet and jumped back, crouching low as her eyes narrowed. “I’ll fulfill my destiny, you won’t win” She declared, holding her head high.

Phantom chuckled. “We’ll see” He whispered before suddenly launching himself at her. Lumi, too stunned to dodge was knocked clear of her feet and into the wall behind. She cried out and kicked out at him, managing to get him off her long enough to keep her distance. She growled as he dashed towards her and rolled out the way as he tail came crashing down to the floor. She spun, hitting him with her own tail and lashed out with her claws before she was pushed away.

He reared up, a blast of black and purple energy was fired at her. Lumi narrowed her eyes using her own Light breath against it. The two beams met, pushing forcefully against each other before Lumi’s Light breath finally pushed through, knocking Phantom off his feet. He lay on the ground out cold.

The ground shook again and the seal slipped further. Lumi gasped and quickly rushed over, standing in the middle. She knew what she had to do. She rose up, Light dancing round her in a circle of magic and power, the darkness blown away and the world around her went white.
