SETTING
Hudson City, New Jersey 1986:
No other city in America has a higher crime rate than the infamous Hudson City. Corruption has overtaken the streets after Mayor Ryan Mayfield had been elected to "better the town" many called their home. Gang violence was rampant, organized crime had taken a severe hold, and the police (the ones who were still good) could barely do enough work each night to lessen the problem.
Someone had to take a stand. Someone had to protect the livelihood of innocent people and restore the city to its former grace. No more bloodshed, no more children afraid to go to school, no more mob bosses getting to walk free while cops turn the other cheek.
It was time for heroes to rise. However they could not be like the decorated war vets that came home from Vietnam, or the public defenders who operated during the day; they needed to don masks to conceal their identities, bullet proof vests to protect themselves, and thick gloves so punching thugs did not keep them from working the next morning. 1986 would become the year of the Vigilante.
But how far would they go to do what they thought was right?

RULES AND GUIDELINES
-This RP is rated M 17+; lots of blood, gore, swearing etc. (But keep mushy stuff in the PG-13 range because I don't want this thread to get CLOSED)
-Obviously no godmodding please
-This is a world based in REALITY, i.e. there are no superhumans (think Watchmen) and people with "powers" have very, very, very, VERY minor abilities (PM me if you want to do something like this first)
-All characters are mortal, and death is a real threat.
-You may have multiple characters, just have some way to seperate who's doing what at what time and where.
-If you have cool ideas for characters (NPCs, Villains, etc.) PM me first please
-Historical references always make for a better story so feel free to do some research
-Write substantially but not minimally. Basically don't write a wall (Unless you have something interesting to write about), and don't write a sentence. Always include what your character is doing whether it be sitting, standing, whatever. *
-Really just stick to the guidelines, I'm a pretty chill GM so we'll figure it out as we go along
*Think of this as a comic book and visualize your character as much as you can

Bio:
Raised in Hudson City, New Jersey, Chuck Tillman grew up in a safer than usual neighborhood due to his father being the police commissioner. Every night he would see his father come home more tired than the last, and he could see it wearing down on his mother. When he was ten, his mother divorced his father out of fear and sickness from constant stress, leaving them in a broken home. For the next eight years Chuck's father pushed him to the limit to get better grades in school, and even sent him to a boy's boxing camp in Philadelphia each summer.
It wasn't long until young Chuck was the star-child his father wanted him to be, and as soon as he got to high school he was running track and field. Chuck also began to notice how much worse Hudson city had become over the years. People were scared to walk the streets alone at night, crime reports were back to back on local TV, and his high school had become a recruitment area for gangs to get fresh blood for their causes. His little sister, Rebecca, was often harassed and feared going to school.
Rebecca and Chuck were cornered one day by gang members on their way home from school. In order to protect her, Chuck stood his ground and put out more blows than he was taking, however the odds were against him. When all hope seemed lost as he lay bleeding on the street; his sister at the whim of her captors, a black man in a military coat approached, asking the gang members "politely" to stand down while also revealing he was packing heat. The assailants retreated and the man helped Chuck and his sister home. When Chuck and the man were alone, the man, Mr. Davis, explained his history having fought in Vietnam, and that Chuck's heroism and determination stood out to him.
He took the young boy under his wing and trained him to fight in close quarters and to further amplify his boxing skill and strength. Chuck then took it upon himself to help clean up the streets like his father, but to keep his family safe, no one could know. It had to be a secret. "There's still some good left in this city, and I know you can find it..." Chuck remembers every night as he dons his helmet and jacket before climbing out his bedroom window. "...Even if you have to beat the bad out of it first."
