It appears September 30th 2016 is the last date you will be able to download and upload any community content. They've pretty much have stripped the ability for any of the games to work except for the console content.

the ios, android, pc, and apple tv versions will be completely dropped (as in not playable period) in the september 30th to march 3rd timeframe
all console versions will work fine in their offline modes (toy box, playsets, ect) but online sharing/multiplayer will be done in march on console
figures requiring a software update (battlegrounds guys, baloo, alice figures, finding dory stuff) will still work as those updates are stored in the 1st party servers, so you'll still be able to use those.
i'd say now is a good time to pick up a console version, some figures/playsets you want, and have some fun for cheap.
