Two Months Later
Blaze sat in his cave next to his daughter, staring blankly at the now extinct volcano that had once been the birthplace of the Destroyer. He thought of how his father had lived in Malefor's time. And he thought of the Floating Islands, and of who lived there now. A huge dragon, dark as night.
Suddenly he felt tired. Limping, he made his way over to the bed of straw and curled up in it. He fell asleep promptly, his daughter Syrenr sitting next to him.
Then came the nightmare.
A black creature approached him. It spoke in a voice like thunder.
"Ah, Blaze, you cower in your cave, unknowing of what you have caused! Well, I will tell you now, so that you may wallow in mud for shame of what you have brought upon this world!"
"What?" Blaze asked drowsily.
"Hahahahahhahahha! Do you not remember? Then I will tell you!"
And then it told Blaze something that shook all of his bones and made his legs shake underneath him and finally buckle, making him fall to the ground.
He woke up suddenly and raked his claws down his head, the skin on his face stretching downward. "No..."
For a new era of darkness had begun. And the Shadowkeeper was entirely in control of this world. The Keeper did not seek to ruin the whole world, but did anyway, just to make one dragon pay for what he had done. And that dragon's name was Spyro.
Now a middle-aged dragon, Spyro was a bit weaker then what he used to be, but still a good fighter. Cynder was the same.
One night Cynder was looking at the stars when a dark shape came hurtling down out of the sky. It was the Shadowkeeper!
"Don't you dare try to kill me," she snarled, "If only you knew who I am!"
The dragon spoke calmly. "I know who you are. You are Cynder, the has-been Terror of the Skies. You saved the world years ago. Your son was exiled."
"And you know this how, you scum?" Cynder growled.
"Because I am your son. I am Blackout."
Complete silence.
He continued: "I punish Spyro for his rash actions. I did wrong, but deserved not exile. And I also punish Blaze. So this entire age of shadow is, essentially, Blaze's fault."
Cynder stared in disbelief. "Well then. I am a bit ashamed, but I agree that what Spyro did was a bit too rash. But please, Blackout, end this horrible time."
A single tear shone in the Shadowkeeper's eye. "I will try."
Then he flew away without a word.
And Blaze sorrowed in his cave, for Blackout had told him in the dream who he was and why the darkness was his fault. He wallowed in shame and guilt.
Blackout resolved to end the war. Soon. Tomorrow. Next week.
Someday.
And there you go. That's the end. Short but enjoyable(I hope).
