I kind of find the PM system abit.... dull. I can post hyperlinks, but not images and stuffs, which is kinda sucky. So how about the PMs look like a normal post on the forum?

Images were disabled when our resident hacker PM'd someone a picture tha'd get their IP adress.

I was tracking a Youtube spammer down, and I suspected it was some of the people here. It's called "investigating."

As far as I remember, there are only 3 instances I used that PHP script.

1. Someone asked for it. (With the recipient's consent.)
2. Someone again asked for it. (Again, with the recipient's consent.)
3. In investigating a Youtube spam attack against me and Ayumi. (In good intention.)

I'll underline the "good intention" part. I'm just using that to reveal a spammer, not to track down people in real life or do anything bad..

If the spammer has a dynamic IP (changes every time), a tracer may help.

Remember it's not accurate, quite a hit and miss. At the very most it will tell what city you are in, but not so close that you start to worry.

(I traced myself and it's off. The city and region is correct though.)

Kind of. It attempts to wring a longitude and latitude out of the IP address and plots it on Google Maps. IT'S NOT 100% ACCURATE. It's a hit and miss scenario. I traced myself and it's off by 20+ kilometers.

Proxy Servers.

Well, i call it Ultrasurf, an anonymous surfer. It hides your IP and port i think.

You can defeat proxy servers and get real IPs with an embedded flash/java, but I am still studying it.

Ahh, but can it get past Proxy bypassers? This would give you the wrong IP address!

So images used to be allowed in PMs before this happened? Couldn't they have just been disabled for the one person who did it? That seems a little unfair to everyone else who uses them properly....

I caught it though, and my intentions were good!

So you collected the IPs of people on darkSpyro to find who was spamming you on Youtube? Makes no sense. I think I know who it was who was spamming you, and I don't think he/she has an account on darkSpyro.

Either way, whatever the intentions were, it's not very fair to restrict everyone because of the actions of one person. That was my point.

No, he did it to track a spammer on his Youtube profile, apparently.

But my original point still stands. Doppel remains the only person to have used the images in PMs in that way, so the rest of us shouldn't have restrictions because of something he did.

well i doo see what you mean caz by this we all have to sufer raly it works both ways some will say well done theres no hacker/spammer but others will say NOW I CANT SEND PICKS IN PMS
