Someone is spreading misinformation that Spyro wasn't in the series during development, and that he replaced Fire Dragon halfway through. Of course, that "justifies" the hate, because he obviously was an afterthought.
Except that's a bunch of bull****.
Here is the article in question that proves it. Anyone with any desire to read properly would notice the clear fact that TFB was developing a Spyro game from day 1, but because it's the only remaining report of an Activision Blog article long deleted, someone changing words to fit their agenda easily got to spread on twitter that Spyro was tacked on at the last minute, because Fire Dragon looks like him.
This is the quote, where in the same paragraph, they say loud and clear that Spyro was always there.
Quote:
We also had Fire Dragon, who later became Spyro.” While His Purple Majesty was originally going to be a benevolent and regal NPC, “it was felt that we couldn’t have a game called Spyro’s Kingdom without Spyro as a playable character, so Fire Dragon became Spyro.”
That is not true, and please, if anyone starts parroting that, use the article. Spyro went to playable from NPC but was always around, he only took that dragon's spot as playable.
It's sad how easy it is to tarnish the game's reputation even further because everyone hates it, but only one way to fix it before it's once again another "fact" in everyone's minds is to correct whenever possible.
Oh yeah, and if that wasn't enough, TFB is mentioned on the article, not VV. Everyone also thinks there's a single developer team because of the newer Activision Blog post and obviously they're half-assing the Crash remasters, when there are three including Beenox.
(i also want to ask nicely for someome to archive this on Archive.is before it gets lost to time too, it's not working very well on my phone e_e)
