Stickers with Stats + In Game stats screen

So I was wondering exactly what the stats are for with the Skylanders. I have a reasonable idea what speed, etc mean. However the stickers themselves and the in game stats seem wildly different. Do the stats on the stickers actually apply at all in game or is it just to approximate how fast, strong, etc?

Is there somewhere I can read more about how stats work for the Skylanders?

That's a recurring issue in the series, the card stats never reflect real ones.
