Post about your favorite underrated characters here and why you like them. The main reason Oswald resonates so well with me is because he has an incredibly well written character arc. In his cartoons, Oswald was very much like the early Mickey: Mischievous, fun-loving, and caring for others, albeit very cocky. Granted, he always was faster to anger. However, in the Epic Mickey canon, Oswald was replaced by Mickey. He becomes resentful and shuts other people out. Being the king of the Wasteland made him very powerful and selfish. He was a decent ruler for a while, but he fell into depression after *SPOILERS FOR EPIC MICKEY* the Thinner Disaster. Oswald was fighting his depression already, but seeing his land get destroyed took a tole on the rabbit. However, Oswald continued to fight the blot. On one faithful day on Mickeyjunk Mountain, Oswald and his wife Ortensia were engaged in combat with the monster. Oswald was tired and almost dead, but he kept on pushing. However, the Blot caught him off guard and took a fatal swing at Oswald. Ortensia, fearing the worst, took the attack, knocking her back. This gave Oswald a chance to seal the monster away in a giant jug. However, one dripping fell out. Ortensia had been turned into a statue. Oswald fell over his wife and started sobbing, having lost his will to live. Oswald then sealed himself away on top of Mickeyjunk, staring at his brother's merchandise and abandoning his duty as father and king. Over time, Oswald's hate built and built until he had enough. Having been back stabbed by the Mad Doctor, Oswald shut himself out. The Wasteland fell into disrepair. Our story takes us to the start of Epic Mickey. When Mickey arrives in the Wasteland via accident, Oswald takes his chance. He tries to murder the mouse by trapping him into the many broken attractions. However, at this point the player can see that Oswald is scared of Mickey because he has the Brush, a weapon that could kill Oswald if given the chance. The game does a great job of showing how selfish Oswald is. He puts his face on everything, from a Walt and Oswald statue to rides to everything in between. When Mickey eventually reaches Oswald atop Mickeyjunk, you see that the character is sad and lonely. He is planning on taking Mickey's heart and escaping the Wasteland. However, he sees Mickey doing the right thing. This changes him. Over time, Oswald comes to care about the mouse as a brother. However, after Mickey defeats the Shadow Blot he reveals that that he was the cause of the Thinner Disaster, meaning he was responsible for ruining Oswald's life.
To be continued

Another excuse to talk about Misha Miramond from Transformers: Energon.

[User Posted Image]

Energon is **** for all the obvious reasons but one minor character sticks out to me because of my personal preference. The colours used complement her with brown hair, blue eyes, cream skin, yellow outfit, orange (spandex) and pink (casual). Something about her design grabbed my attention as an artist. Another reason she stuck out was how she was suppose to have no personality or any reason to be there in the first place other than eye-candy yet she did killed one Decepticon using the ship she was in (one more than Kicker has ever done I think), was braver, probably had a more tragic background and made one of the bad guys see the error of his ways in contrast to the amount of time and attention for that whining screaming abomination of a human being named after his violent kneejerks, symbolising just how bad the writing really is.

Misha needs to be in the new Transformers cartoon but all ties from Energon cut.

I don't know who I can talk about. Maybe the guy in my avatar? I always tough that he doesn't get much attention by people as the other emotions in Inside Out, and his more slapstick-style humor is very well-made.

I've never watched Transformers, but Misha sounds really cool. And she looks awesome too. >.<

Yeah, Crash10, Fear is probably my favourite emotion because I just love his humour?? X'D I don't get how people don't like him as much as the others (but man, I can't stand Joy..). And he probably has the most unique design out of all five, which I absolutely love.

BUT I think that Terra from Teen Titans is definitely underrated. Really, she has such an amazing story in that show where she has to battle thoughts about whether to betray her friends or not. And she basically turned against them in the first place because Beast Boy blamed her for getting manipulated by Slade. Seriously? I mean, Slade was able to manipulate Robin as well and no one held it against him as much as they do towards Terra. Clearly she's never had any true friendship and has the possibility of suffering from mental illnesses. What makes it worse though is that most of the fandom hates her??? What??
I could go on longer, but I'd rather not. X'D

I really like all of the five emotions. All of them have a different type of joke and style and all of them are well made. And this includes Joy. I understand that some people don't like her because she sometimes act like a "jerk" (pretty much like Woody in Toy Story), but she's as good as the others, at least for me.

The fandom hates Terra because of the comics mostly from my understanding. In the Teen Titans show, she was made out to be more a tragic character who wanted to be accepted and just ended up on the wrong side after feeling hurt by the Titans as she made Beast Boy promise to not tell that she couldn't control her powers but Robin figured it out and she thought Beast Boy betrayed her trust and told them. Then later yes because Beast Boy got mad at her for working with Slade. She even sacrificed herself to save them in the end and is one of few death scenes where I cried. She is my favorite character in the show.

However, in the comics, Terra is more evil. She joins the Titans while already working for Slade and intends to take them down from the beginning because she is a villain. She hangs out with the Titans, fakes being a friend, then at the end of the day goes home to Slade, tells all of their secrets to him, and literally gets in bed with him. If you've seen the 2-3 episodes of Teen Titans Go with Terra, those are a bit more accurate to the comics with her portrayal in that from the moment they meet her, she is already a ***** plotting against them. The comics just make it more subtle than in TTG where she fakes being their friend and does get Beast Boy to fall in love with her. In the comics, unlike in the original show, Starfire always hated Terra with a passion much like how Raven does in the show.

As for the point about Robin; they didn't blame Robin as he was basically blackmailed into doing it, Terra chose Slade.

I know this he's a Futurama character so he can't be as underrated as some others here, but honestly I just love this guy to death. Maybe there is a fandom for him out there that I never noticed, maybe nostalgia boosts my opinion of him, but he's my favorite devil character and one of my favorite villains ever. The Robot Devil is a deliciously charismatic, devious, hilariously over-the-top trickster.

I know this art is horribly janky, but I'm too lazy to look for anything else. smilie

He's awesome, especially Dan Castellaneta's performance being so deliciously camp.

Diamond Tiara has a small fandom, but she's probably the most hated character in all of MLP. Back in the days when my afternoons were spent scouring dArt for pics of Tiara, half of it was torture porn (Not THAT kind of porn) or this "Which characters do you hate the most" meme.

The reason I like her so much is that she's perhaps one of the most fleshed out "bully" characters out there (The only other that I can think of is maybe Nelson from the Simpsons, and only because they've had decades to establish their backstory and nuances), and certainly the most fleshed out female bully character.

While she at first seems to just be another generic "spoiled brat", she seems to be a bit more than that. She only got three major appearances by the time I stopped watching the show, but in them there was quite a lot of room for development.

The third episode in particular, ("Family Appreciation Day" which was otherwise kind of a mediocre episode) had an interesting scene between Tiara talking to a Bunny Cosplaying Applebloom (I'm gonna leave that out of context). In this episode there is a sort of reciprocated friendship between the two. Applebloom's driving motivation seems to be Tiara's appreciation, and she hates that Tiara doesn't like her.

While I don't know where this ended up going canonically, it was the springboard for a series of RPs I did a long time ago w/ a brony who was an Applebloom fan, that set my love for the character in stone. I'll spare you the nitty gritty details but we decided to end the RP on a high note, with AB and Tiara becoming sisters.

While a big part of me liking Tiara is about the going off the beaten "Canon" path, I still believe that's as valid as any reason to like a character. (Especially if me tearing up a little after mentioning the RP was proof of anything)

You know another one? Tiana's friend from Princess and The Frog, Charolette. She shows that not all rich people end up being pompous, she does seem to be a good friend to Tiana and just has a fun personality in general.

(Disclaimer: it's been a while since I actually watched this movie, so maybe I'm misremembering her, but I do remember she was pretty fun.)

Lottie was one of the funniest characters in the movie, she's definitely spoiled, but she has a really good heart.

(Disclaimer: Princess and the Frog is one of my favorite Disney Movies, along with Hunchback of Notre Dame)

Now that you said about The Princess and the Frog, I think that people don't really remember of Dr. Facilier, when I find him personally a very good villain. His style and personality is interesting, his mysterious tone (he gives most of his job to the shadows) combines with his voodoo thematic, and his theme song is just great.

Spoilers from the movie:
Also his dead scene is really funny.
