In other words, casual sex with (theoretically) no feelings involved. What's your opinion on them?

For me personally, it's really internally destructive because I lack control over my emotions. But different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Managed it with a friend, would do again, but obviously it depends on the people involved. You have to be just as careful about it as you do with any type of relationship. Just keep things as open and honest as possible and if there's mutual desire for something like that, it can work.

I think it only works well if you're able to do sex in a fast-paced, detached sort of way. It's real easy for strong emotional attachments to form if you do sex all slow and sweet and intimate like.

If you're an adult (Stressing adult here very much) you are free to sleep with whoever you want, and in certain situations for certain people it can work out.
If you go into it with the realization that there aren't going to be any mutual feelings between the two of you, and that it will never progress to a romantic relationship, a "No strings attached" situation can work out. Do they always? No. But they can, and there's nothing wrong with that.
The concept of virginity is a social construct and it has no effect on your character. If you choose to wait for "the one", that's fine. If you don't, you're not a bad person.

There is both male and female birth control, and when put together it's a 99.999% prevention.
Also being in a romantic relationship doesn't mean anything. No amount of love can make someone prepared for a tiny human being if they aren't ready.
Look at Lunarz, do you think he's capable of raising a child? He would feed it pizza and try to play videogames with it.
But seriously, the baby issue really is irrelevant in all of this.

Eh, it's fun sometimes. I haven't done anything like that in a while myself, but it's a good way to relieve stress since it's basically just sex without a larger commitment. You can have fun, be open and honest about it, and then go your separate ways. It doesn't feel wrong at all if you're both on the same page, and that's how it should be.

Having drunken one-night stands isn't the same thing though, and I would never recommend doing anything like that. That's when you don't take everything into consideration, and as a result might end up doing something very irresponsible. These kinda things should always be approached with a clear head, for your own sake as well as for the sake of your partner.

I would also say that in many ways it's preferable to starting a "real" relationship. Lots of people aim for one when they really only want intimacy, and then they end up getting overwhelmed by the level of commitment that an actual relationship requires.

Edit: I should still mention the simple fact that sex without romance doesn't equal sex without emotion.
