is he a good boss? does he put up a good fight? NO!! HE IS THE EASIEST BOSS INTHE HISTORY OF GAMING! In a way, he is like Moneybags, cuz all he really cares about are the gems locked up in Gnasty's Loot!

I think he's a brilliant boss! smilie It's only easy because this game was made ages ago. Back then this would be cutting edge stuff.

I do not have Spyro 1 (yet, I'm thinking of getting it some time) but in A Hero's Tail he is a good villain, silly but cool.

I've always found him to be a fun and creative boss. I've never seen any other boss who really lives up to his cowardly reputation like that, and I always did like the "chase things" parts of the old Spyro games. His design was fun, too, and the implication that he, like all of his minions, is just a pile of gems was something I always found neat.

He's totally a woman in AHT. Just look at those boobs. o.O It frightens me. D:

I like him as a character, how he is in this game, but I think the boss fight could have had a little more interaction.
The AHT version is... just not right.

I liked Gnasty in the first game. He may have been scared to fight Spyro head on, which anyone who's not fireproof has a right to be, but he was fun to chase. He set up quite a few tricks to keep Spyro at bay and he's really fast, especially for such a big felllow.

I didn't like him much in AHT though. Whiny and easy to beat. He didn't even show half the intelligence that it was implied that he had in the first game.

Why would he have even put up with Red, anyway? He got angry at the dragons for insulting him in the first game. That's why he trapped them in stone. Even when Spyro corners him in the end, he doesn't surrender to the little dragon. Suddenly, some old exile (who obviously expresses his low opinions about Gnasty and his gnorcs) shows up and he turns submissive coward.

Honestly, if they had stuck with his original personality, I think Red would have had to get rid of him, probably by killing him, to get controll of his minions.

It's like they totally threw out his old personality and inserted this newer one. It totally ticks me off to see the change.

And...another bump.

Ironically Gnasty was the LAST classic boss I was introduced to; I started with the franchise from GtG in 1999, and didn't pick the original up until after AHT, in 2007 (I was stuck in the Dragon Kingdom for three years due to not realising that you just stood on the platform for Crocovile Swamp as opposed to doing a tricky glide, so all I 'knew' him by was as a nameless guy who happened to be with Red).

That said, I've ended up liking him the most because he's the most comedic of the villains, even in his first appearance. I do prefer his AHT design and mannerisms, but I can't imagine the AHT form being as funny without the knowledge of the original. Besides, AHT Gnasty resembles the proper original Gnasty more than the original Gnasty...as contradictory as it sounds, but the original Gnasty didn't wear bright gold armour on the box or in his portrait.

Gnasty teaming up with Red can be explained by him looking at the broader horizons; Red was a dragon, but he wanted to eliminate the rest of the dragons with the Dark Gems. I think Gnasty would prefer working with one dragon to get back at the rest who wronged him and then perhaps trying to kill that one when his defenses were down, than getting rid of one random (to him) dragon and having to put up with the rest. Of course, he was also a bit aloof, so maybe he just didn't give a toss if his tool to attack the dragons was a dragon himself. At least he was tougher to beat in AHT than the original.

And then there's the fact that he's basically been a stepping stone in the Mario world. The diagram's right there for those that need clarification.

I never thought of Gnasty teaming up with Red in that perspective. It would make sense for him to do that too. He could have planned to help Red eliminate the other dragons and then try turning him to stone afterwards.

He is a cool boss in STD but he is very easy.

AHT version is weird but a little tougher to beat.

Personally, I found that, although STD Gnast took less hits than the AHT version, it was harder to chase him down in the first game than it was to flame him in the later one. In AHT, I defeated Gnasty on my first try. In STD, I had to try more times than I care to count before I finally defeated him.

I really liked Gnasty in STD, he had that sorta gruff, hardy classic villainesque attitude but he was way too easy to beat in the fight. I mean only two hits and that was it, even a sheep on stilts lasted longer lol smilie!

In AHT however was a more respectable fight but they like literally cut Gnasty's IQ in half and the whining and tantrums were a bit annoying to say the least...

In AHT he looks like gnorc female, with this two-segmented breastplate... At first I thought that it is Gnasty's wife or something smilie And NOTHING in AHT is better than in old, good, original Spyro.

Gnasty Gnorc didn't really play a big part in STD really, you only saw him in one cutscene and that was right at the beginning of the game, and he only says a few words, and the boss level was kind of disapointing really. I liked how he came back in AHT, but he still didn't play that much of a big part, at least he said a little more than last time, and the battle was more interesting than the original. The original was more like an oridnary level.

I thought he was pretty great. Not very deep as a character, but nobody really expected that sort of thing back then. I found his fight to be very unique and fun (how many other bosses own up to their cowardice and run away? and how often do you get to chase them down?).
