Can a 2ds run newer 3ds games or is it just the new 3ds?

It runs DS games and regular 3DS games, it's essentially a regular 3DS but with no 3D function

The 2DS, while it can run DS games just fine and has no 3D function, there's no way to protect the screen. Which kinda irritates me, because it means the screen can be easily damaged. My youngest sister has one. Probably just a personal taste though.

Whats the point of a 2DS? Can't you just not use the 3d function?

It costs less but at the cost of no 3D function (but most people dont use the 3D function anyways)
